Is this a good time?

I am entering a GT3 tournament where I can win a free copy of GT4. I have to run Trial Mountain with a bone stock Toyota Supra RZ, and I was wondering if 1:40.412 is a decent time or if I have a lot more work to do.

Thanks for your input.

The record at gt.de for an arcade Supra at TM is 1'34.524

ok, six seconds may sound like alot, but you're on your way.

I'd advise saving multiple replays and comparing them to each other in the replay analyzer. You'll figure out different portions that you can improve on. Yes, it'll take time and practice.

Just curious, where is the tournament?

It's at EB Games in Antioch.

whats the holy hand grenade? the weapon from the game Worms?

as for your time Nismo Skyline, 1:40 is ok you can do alot better (unless you got 1:40 from a standstill on lap 1).

i say this cuz i consider myself a decent racer, and on my first try i got 1:39 something in free run of arcade. i remember when i first raced the trial mountain time trial with the celica and thought i ran it good i had a 1:51. after watching replays (on cd demonstration, and a video on GTP) after some practice i got it down to 1:46.something. given you got 1:40, it means ur a pretty decent driver, with some practice you should be able to cut off 4-5 secs pretty good. i got a question though, do you have to run the lap clean? if you do you should work on the time trial one for some practice to get a feel of the course.

I think he's actually referring to the holy hand grenade from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, which they use to kill the extremely vicious white rabbit!

So this tournament in Antioch? Is that Antioch, CA?

*Edit* Just searched on EB Games website under Antioch. There's 75 locations for Antioch throughout the US!

GT3 tourney???!!!! Oh, I wish there was one by where I live. And you get a free GT4 copy if you're the quickest?  It's hard to find some decent comp here, much less a tournament. Good luck!! :) Win one for the good guys.

1st. Monty Phython, evil white rabbit :nervous: 2nd. It's a Supra RZ 3rd. You should do alot better in a Nismo Skyline

"Nismo Skyline" is the name of the person who started this thread :sly:

My advice: practice standing up with the TV at eye level - that's probably how you'll be racing at the store, and you gotta practice how you play 👍

That's pretty good advice.👍

I'd say if you can run steady low 1"36's you should be able to beat any 'Joe Blow' off the street, and get a free game to boot.:) Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Called the store in Antioch, CA, out of curiousity. It is there!
Sadly I have a tax appointment at noon & we have to go to a going away party for one of my wife's colleagues this afternoon, or I'd have come along for a crack at this, as I'm only 30 miles away.
Just ran 3 clean laps, 1'36.597, 1'36.286 and 1'35.085!
Is it just today that the tournament is happening, or is it both days this weekend?

Update: I am kinda dissapointed with my best time (1:41.632). But I went in at 1:00 and only one other person had competed (the comp lasts until the store closes). But I'm still not quite sure whether I will win or not. Sorry I let you guys down :(

1) Yes, the tourney is in Antioch, CA

2) It is only on Saturday, and as I stated earlier, it lasts till the store closes.

haha you didn't let us down bud. don't feel blue, you never know. outside of the internet world, i dunno anyone in real life that's as good as me. (i don't even think i'm that good, it just that most people just play the game for graphics it seems). good luck and let us know if u did win.

yeah good luck, so far every one ive gone agianst (my friends) i won by like 20seconds on anytrack  anywho good luck with the comp, u better win :nervous: jklol but i hope u do

I don't remember there being an EB in Antioch... How long has it been there? I moved away from there about a year ago, but I lived in Pittsburg for about four or five years. Used to either go to the mall in Concord or the Best Buy over by the theater.

NISMOSkyline, Think you should have a chance with a lap like that. Good luck!

Did they insist on clean laps with no corner cutting, 2 wheels on track at all times etc, etc? That's where most off-the-street folks struggle since they assume its like most of the old arcade games where you never had to use the brakes!

Thankfully the taxman was kind to us this year, and the refund from the "Governator" will pay for my copy of GT4!

Would you or any of the other Bay Area players that have posted here be interested in i-Link sessions for GT3 or GT4 in the future? I have a 6-port hub & cables if anyone is interested.....

My local GameStop is having a tourney that is bracket style for the same prize. Only real thing I'm concerned with is that its 2 player style and I always lose to my friend in 2 player because instead of racing, he just rams me off the track and I lose. If anybody does that during the comp, I'll flip out.

Nismo skyline, is it a sim version of a stock supra, or is it arcade supra?

Id love to have a competition like that, with dudes off the street, I do quite well in wrs so id like to think i can beat people in a 50km radious.

Let's start a fair challenge here then:idea:💡:):D I like challenges:D:D I'll try it in a minute or 2 anyways now, let know if you like the idea, it's only an 💡/idea

Edit: first try: 1.38.184
best try out of 5: 1.36.759

Kind of funny that just (I think) random persons around the world saw this thread and looked, and when comparing times we immediatly had only differneces of about two or three seconds, that seems so little knowing there are over 6 billion people that can visit this thread:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I lost the tournament by one second (1:41 vs 1:40), but at least I didn't embarass myself. :)

Damn, that's too bad. Still, at least it wasn't something terribly frustrating like losing by a couple of hundredths or thousands. That would have really hurt. :ouch:

I tried to post a thread in the main GT4 forum, but I guess it got "moderated"

Anyway, Gamestop by my house was holding a tourney like this one. Best lap on midfield with the Elise 190. The tourney is open until the 24th, with the 2 fastest times going on to compete for a copy of GT4 and a DFP.

Get out to your local Gamestop and see if they have something similar!

Mine is! :sly:

Me and another friend both entered in it to double our chances of a team win.
I don't even care about the free copy of gt4 because I have it reserved at another game store. I just want a chance to school some other blokes.

Me:  Other Blokes: :banghead: :banghead: :boggled:   :dunce:  :indiff: :scared:    :irked: 🤬 :boggled:    :banghead:

Damnit, mine isn't. :(

Where are you spike10h? Close to Minnesota too? Don't say Sir Bradburry's Gentlemen's Club, 'cos I've been and looked for you, and you weren't there! :sly:
