Can't we all get along?

That is what I'm trying from the beginning! Make people understand that pissing is useless, and only frustrates you even more. This thing is cultural as explained in my posts above! Don't bother, you will not understand PD in most cases...

You are pretty stubborn, please only try to think about this as you go to bed tonight...

"The Japanese love work, and effort in everything, even their video games or their idea of fun, that includes GT5, which is made by the Japanese for the Japanese and then for millions around the world. Selling stuff to millions around the world will not make you change your culture..."

Sweet dreams...

Yeah because Sony executives sit in their office thinking well it doesn't matter if this game sells in Europe and America, as long as it sells in Japan we'll be alright. You're pretty stupid for someone who makes such an effort to come across as smart.

sorry but why MUST we agree with the Japanese value? Ever heard of differences in value and philosophy?

You have expressed your opinion so why can't we? I don't know what is ignorant about believing in other ways of doing things.

You are like a evangelical preacher and everyone who disagree must be condemned to hell, and frankly that's more a problem than the dupers and grinders.....at least they don't tell me how I play my game.

I see this thread won't last long.

That is not true! I accept that PD is illogical for westerners (like myself)...

Didn't you know that Japan became an economic power by not giving a crap what consumers outside of Japan want and think about Japanese products?

You are just lost my friend, that would be an American/European company's view, not a Japanese developer's view... But anyway, people can think whatever they want, and piss as much as they want.

I'll keep enjoying the game, you keep dreaming about the Western way of business for Japan, go teach them dude...

Ummm....it's a game? Not real life? If you like it, play it, cool. If you don't then buy American-made games or become a game developer or stop bit ch ing?

Seriously. If we're all GT fans lets just play it the way it is. If not go buy the real car you want and better yet become a real race car driver. Then at least we could all justify to our girlfriends/wives why we bought steering wheels and seats for our made up racing career ;)

I don't think we should take this that seriously, bottom line.

but you are shoving it down our throat and calling people who think otherwise ignorant?

The argument isn't illogical although very simplified and generalized, however you do know understanding does not mean agreeing?

Wow, this is getting a little intense. How about agreeing to disagree? Might that work?
Why does it matter where the game came from, or what country it came from. Or Star Wars that matter. What matters is this: Japanese people have it, making them happy. North Americans have it, making them happy. Europeans have it, making them happy. Australians have it, making them happy. Asians, you guessed it.

Why fight over something so pointless. Can't believe people have to fight over something as simple as opinions for opinions sake.

Didn't you know that Japan became an economic power by not giving a crap what consumers outside of Japan want and think about Japanese products?

Keep waving the flag dude, go hide behind it...

But guess what, you were asinine enough to buy their product, e.g. GT5 and then complain because it does not fit your idea of "fun"... Yet, you bought it, and you are here complaining... You could have read AMERICAN opinions on it, you know?

Wow...

Sony is a Japanese company, you are aware of that aren't you? Sony own Polyphony Digital. Where does the American/European company come into it?

They became an economic power by copying western technology and engineering, than after building their industrial backbone start to think about what is japan design. Japanese design is heavy on their unique philosophy and crazy creativity, however ignorance to the overseas market has nothing to do with it, Muji, Sony, Honda etc never actively diss overseas market to project some sort of Japanese Corporate value.

I cannot agree fully with you. GT5 has a lot of problems, but eliminating the dupe thing is a legit modification, and that was not available in previous games either. You had to earn stuff too, and as far as I remember there were numerous super hard things to get back then too. Yes, GT5 forces you to "grind" more, so to speak, and that sucks, but that is the idea they had. They make the game. Either abide, or don't play. I'm not defending them, I'm trying to make you understand that pissing is useless. I found myself pretty annoyed by repetitive stuff too, but I enjoy the game a LOT overall, and can see that as a minor thing compared to the awesome driving experience GT5 provides.
You missed the point. Your OP was written giving off the implication that GT5 was designed the way that it was because of idiosyncrasies of Japanese culture influencing the game design.
I was merely pointing out that this was not the case, because GT1-GT4 were not designed using the same philosophies as GT5 was, and they were no less Japanese.

Of course not. It would be economic suicide. Japanese companies are very aware of what non-Japanese customers want...thus their success in the global economy.

Exactly, understanding is what will help you overcome the oh so intense frustration that is driving these fan based forums crazy... and then stop playing, and leaving the rest of us clean of these new rubbish complaint.

Well, I confirm my posts, in my opinion, GT is very Japanese, from 1 to 5, just that 5 has some problems that were not before. My original post focused in the latest update, not on all the problems GT5 has.

Why don't you go play the game and let us complain? It's our right. Go mind your own business. No one here is asking or demanding anything of you. Just go.

Please don't... Tell me you didn't write that...

You are in my thread flag waver... Awesome and freaky... :scared:

Then I am sorry, I am still going to complain as long as I have an opinion. Maybe you should understand the value or free expression to overcome the oh so intense frustration of reading opposing opinions online.......

Ask the devs to open a positive threads only forum, that will solve the issue. Or maybe make it an mandatory requirement to have GT tattooed on your face before sign up to ensure fanboyism, that will clear the rubbish ignorant posts from the lazy GT5 buyers who does more trading than racing.......

As "Japanese" as this game is, I set up my hugger orange 69 z28 today, racing modified it and drove it around the track. It did not feel Japanese to me.

And if this game is solely based on Japanese values, why is the game's creator so obsessed with the Ford GT?

Honestly if we're going to have this argument someone is going to have to admit that more than one culture was considered in the development of this game. It isn't Tokyo Drift Rice BUrner 5. It's Gran Turismo 5 and has just as much American culture as it has German as it has British as it has Japanese etc etc.

All you have to do is play the game itself to see that.

And this thread made this far how?

Which ironicly is yet another American's stereotype about Japanese underground racing culture. :D Very reflective of this thread lol.

LOL, people just won't understand, everything is lost... :sly:

Lol good point I PROBABLY shouldn't have gotten involved...but my point is that it isn't a game where all you can buy are Civics and Nissans, even if there are quite a few Nissans...the fact still remains that there are plenty of beautiful premium non-Japanese cars with a lot of care put into them, and MY opinion, as a car enthusiast, is that cars reflect a culture in a given time period. Thus, GT5 reflects many cultures and their history as it relates to the history of automotive racing. (takes breath)

PS I'm not dissing on Japanese racing or culture I'm more mocking the overall stereotypical nature of the thread. Got nothing against anyone, world peace man! :)

Come on, I have criticized the game intensely before... But this new complaint is just cultural, that is all I'm saying, you can agree, digress, or ignore it...

Freedom's arrived dude...

P.S. People in Japan very rarely cheat, including video games, Japanese trust people until foreigners screw everything up, e.g. no gifting now...

superjepoy
With this update PD is telling us to PLAY THE GAME!

I think the reason for this update is because too many people are asking, trading, and duping the RedBull x2010.

So play we shall! Also, doubt it's because of the X2010, which personally I can't stand more reasons than 1. But they set the limit at 1mil, not 19 or 15 or even 5mil. I think it's a well deserved slap in the face to a bunch of whiny babies (see most above posts) and they should turn their passion into something other than hating a beautifully done game.

Excuse me... I was out wading around in the rat droppings and taking measurements for student dorms renovations.

Oh... on topic? Locked.

While I agree: It's PD's game, they can force you to play it their way, there's really no direction that this thread is headed in, and it's a topic that has been discussed before.
