I have cable internet upstairs, I run an older D-Link wireless router for the PS3but when I checked my specs for the internet speeds (online and through my provider) my speeds seem low to me, but I'm not sure.
Upload - 0.26 mbps
Download - 10 mbps
Ping - 16 (whatevers)
I usually don't have an issue playing online as long as the room isn't at max, and I'm not using my Bluetooth headset.
The headset, I'm looking at a wired one with a 20 foot cord (there are extension cords that I've found).
Unfortunatley, no one seems to sell a wired modem. With the speeds that I have, I don't know if there would be any point in investing like $160+ into a Dualband wireless router to 'try' to get a better connection.
What would be a Minimum upload speed for playing online? There's another company that has 1 mbps upload speed... would that make enough of a difference?
Thanks

I think you'll be good. The problems you've had with your microphone, is made by your “slow” upload speed. There's simply to much data for your connection to handle.

I got 125ko/s up and got no problem, I've connected my PS3 with cable as my wifi kinda sucks.
I never use a mic tho.

What do you mean by wired modem? You should be able to wire to your router.

Most wireless routers also have Ethernet connections/ports (Lan ports) on the back of the router so you can wire directly to your PS3, etc.

Mine has one WAN (wide area network) port that I connect my modem into and 4 LAN (local area network) that I plug my computer, PS3 and Vonage device into. Look in the router's specs for the number of ports.
