Isn't it time for Nordschleife time trial?

The game has been out for about seven months (Seasonal Events for six months) and we have had a fair share of time trial events during this period. I'm just amazed that we still haven't had a single time trial event on one of the most popular tracks, the Nordschleife. Even before I got the game I couldn't wait to compete on a leaderboard for this track. Initially I expected the game to have a leaderboard system like the GT5 demo had but I'm starting to realize it probably never will be included in the full game.

Some other tracks have had at least two time trial events during the same period, Tsukuba to mention one. Is Polyphony holding back interesting content in order to keep us interested in the long run? I doubt I'm the only one who would like a time trial on the Nordschleife and I'm sure it will come at some point. I just find it weird that we haven't had one yet. Most of the people who bougth the game back in 2010 have probably moved on to other games or things since then.

Maybe 500 odds different cars.
Easy PP range of +150 on top of base PP.

Should be easy to pump out events like there is no tomorrow.

I’m just a regular GT5’er and not particularly skilled so often through bad driving end up off the track with my lap ending up disqualified, image that happen on the last corner of a lap there. Also I get quicker by doing lap after lap and on most of the circuits that I have been used I could do three or four laps for everyone around Nordschleife.

Simply put, it wouldn’t be fun.

But, having a separate TT leader board for all tracks as well as the seasonal TT's for those who want it not a bad idea.

Why don't you see how you compare? Note that rules are a little stricter than normal TT.

If you made a timetrial consisting of 5 consecutive perfect laps around Nurburgring, people would still do it. Sure it's hardcore, but that's what this game's about for many. How else can you explain the massive amounts of money people spend on peripherals (wheels, seats etc)? The thing about time trials and other seasonals is that you don't have to do them. In fact, you don't have to do any of the events if you don't want. Whether or not something appears impractical to a self confessed 'not particularly skilled' player shouldn't (and most likely wouldn't) come into it.
 
I would put a lot of effort into a Nordschleife time trial since it's my favorite track. So far the only time trials I've bothered with are the most recent, and even then that was only to beat the gold times for the payout ... was not too motivated to improve my times after that.
 
I like to consider myself quite a good driver, and having gone around the ring on GT4 over a 1000 laps easy, and god knows how many times on GT5.
I have met quite a few good drivers on GT5 which we have regular and quite impressive races on the Ring, (we dont race any other track) again i like to consider myself a good driver but i simply can not drive (handle) anything fast i.e the Minolta's and the like, but i have seen some people put in very impressive times in Minolta's and similar LeMans cars, so i think a Time trial seasonal event at the 'Ring would be quite popular amongst the more Hardcore, regular GT5 users,

p.s i think the event should be Road cars only racing and RACING SOFT TYRES ;)

oh and seeing as they have made the latest seasonal event quite challenging, surely they can up the pace of the normal race events. i.e make them faster, so i can actually RACE them and not jut breeze through it!
 
I've been dreaming of the day that they add a ring seasonal. I envision four or five races with different car classes for each. All the way up to a lmp/ group c race. If I could compete in a race like that for good payouts I would be thrilled.

I like the idea of that - more fun than 5 tracks, 1 car,
 
You can race the ring against the lmp/group c cars in the gran turismo allstars but it only pays 38k.
 
I just don't want a Nür Seasonal that involves chasing for 1st place , 4 hundredths of a second prior the finish line. I want us to all start at the same stopped starting line, with really Aggro AI. A Race to the finish. Together. Also, when we tune our cars, allow the AI to increase their PP as well.
 
We had a Le Mans time trial just before the 24 Hours there, so hopefully we'll have one before the Nurburgring 24 Hours...
 
The problem I see is that this would be too great an idea, as weird as that may sound.

A 'Ring time trial would be a sort of crowning event for GT5, since its version of the track is by far the most accurate of all, and the series has been acclaimed even more since they included it in GT4. But that would also mean that PD would have to be extremely careful regarding what car to use, which tyres etc. Because if they ruin it by having us go 'round it in yet aother skyline or MX-5, everybody would be disappointed. And having us use LMP/Group C would not be very realistic, since they don't run there (anymore) IRL.

I remember the last licence in GT4, where you ran an old 190 E Touring car, that was quite fun. My personal favourite would be the current M3 on sport softs though.

Yes, we finally got it but in the 24 hour layout. Too bad that they didn't restrict it to road cars because everyone seems to compete in LMP cars downtuned to 394 BHP. :yuck:

It would be nice if these time trials gave players less freedom from time to time but it will probably come at some point.
 
Just saw that people are using highly down tuned cars. I tried to do it properly in my NSX RM(394bhp@1085KG) and got 9:11 on my first attempt, including a few spins. My face when I saw someone got a 7:48:grumpy:
 
I thought when I noticed it was a lap of the 24hr 'ring, "should make a good challenge for the leaderboards". I then take a look at them, and what a suprise, a mountain of detuned LMPs.

It's a joke... makes a mockery of the whole thing.

Yeh they should fix the power limiter so you cant reduce the horse power of a car beyond stock level.
 
I'd like they allow just stock cars (except suspension, aerodynamics adjustments...). On the other hand now I have an excuse to use my R10 Stealth.
 
Has anyone beaten it? I don't want to do it with a LM car to be honest, those top guys also have wheels.

Amuse S2000 GT1 will do it for sure! Only did one lap yesterday and with some bad spins I'm 11 seconds off gold time... There are so many car that will be fast enough and aren't LM cars!
 
I used a RE Amemiya AsparaDrink RX7 with stage 3 engine tune-up, stock turbo, 1,100kg。

I need to apply 1% engine delimiter to meet the requiements.

my best lap is 8:39.4

Hopefully, PD will disable engine delimiter and weight balast for Expert Challenge and Time Trial. Using high % of engine delimiter just like cheating ~

I will select another car tonight without using engine delimiter and weight balast for nur 24h TT .

10% down of original power would be enough, same for weight. This LMP fiesta everywhere is just plain stupid.

Great lap. I tuned up my Wedsport Lexus for this event too. I only ran one recon lap so far and didn't post a time. Good to know that this car class is working for some of you.

Like you guys, I'm not fond of this whole downtuning a car to meet the specs. I took the Wedsport because of it's great handling and I knew I could add some turbos to boost that HP. I think I'll need a final gear adjustment to gain some more speed on the long straights but it felt pretty good and was a lot of fun on that one lap.
 
I was happy with my 8:40 lap using a slightly down-tuned Audi-TT Red-Bull DTM.
