Isn't PD more silent than usual?

This is nothing more than PD's standard operating procedure. I mean no disrespect to anyone who actually enjoys the VGTs, but I just don't care about them. They seem like such a complete waste - of time, resources, focus. I want the "shortly after release" features we are still waiting for. That, and an AI/offline update is sorely needed (though not in the least expected).

I hope PD learned how crazy the GT HypeTrain can be and wised up to "communicating" anything at all, and what good that does. If they say anything people get pissed if its not followed by a step by step, play by play until arrival or PDHateTrain collides with the GTHypeTrain. Saying Nothing, then WOWing us with unexpected updates full of unexpected content is really the best way to go.

IMHO The VGT Program is Brilliant... Truly innovating for a video game.

I was wondering, is it just me or lately PD is more silent and "working in the darkness" than usual? Also we do not get any kind of "news" or "insider" informations and @Jordan and @amar212 haven't shared anything new.

Something big is boiling, or maybe it's PD shifting attention to next generation? Or maybe it's all as usual and it's just me? :D

You must be fairly new to the series if you think a period of silence from PD is unusual! :p ;)

Ironic how all the talk is of VGT's. Seems like people are so used to them now they don't even expect any real cars anymore. Kind of sad really.

I think that's a tad unfair - people refer to VGT first because it is an announced project that is ongoing, and probably also because it has stretched out longer than people expected. Even though real cars have been added to GT6 it's difficult to talk about or even expect them because PD often doesn't announce what to expect in terms of real cars. Unless you assume the default position of "new Nissan GTR to be added next month"! :p

Well, they haven't posted on PitStop for more than a month, which is a longer than usual gap...
I'm going to let my wishful thinking assume that they are hard at work modelling the Bertone VGT, updating Trial Mountain for GT7 with dynamic lighting and weather, new trees etc. and making some final adjustments for a GT6 update with Seattle in it. :D

Realistically though, there's ~100 people sitting at desks in Japan, typing and drawing on graphics tablets working on GT6 and 7; mainly 7 by this point. We don't know what they're doing, but they're doing something productive.

Just remember that PD don't have to release an update every month (or 30 days) just like that. As we know that GT7 is undergoing devolpment right now, they'll take some time off GT6 and focus on the early stages of 7.
Let's not get too hyped, the hype train is out of order at the moment.
Yep. I'm not expecting anything big until Christmas (or Hanukkah) for GT6. Or news of GT7, that won't be for a long while as GT6 was only been released for 10 months.

They kind of do. They've got a lot of stuff that they still need to get into GT6 to not be seen as totally taking advantage of their customers.

Anything less than once a month isn't really going to get it done. They still have the course creator, B Spec, community/clubs, mobile devices, and a big list of VGTs to push out.

Over 20 of the world leading companies in the automotive industry have designed special cars for Gran Turismo, celebrating its 15th anniversary. Over the course of approximately 1 year, cars from each company will be provided one by one in the game.

Last I checked they were up to 7 VGTs. There are 28 on the list, but even to get to fifteen they'll have to release more in the next two months than in the ten months previous. They need a VGT every week, at least.

I'm just speculating, but there's every chance that PD see VGT as an ongoing and continuous project, and so they'll have no problem carrying it over in whatever state to GT7. Even if the don't they'll probably have to, given something is causing the process to go pretty slowly (whether that be the manufacturers designing their cars, or PD modelling them, or both).

Or perhaps more likely, PD knew from the start how drawn out this process would be, but as usual they forgot to communicate that bit to us :p

I would say that they've got their hands full. Not only fine tuning DLC for GT6 like the track maker and it's app for smartphones, but also doing technical tests with GT on the PS4 hardware to see how far they can take it.

@ Ameer67.

What a coincidence, im just watching this endurance race on motors tv, dont know if its live or not.

Also this race is on quick match atm, I wonder if endurance races are in the pipeline or this is just a Japanese special.

Possibly, although as seen by the quote in my previous post from the official gran-turismo.com website, that would then fall somewhere between willful misdirection and outright lies.

They need to at least be in the general vicinity of 20 VGTs after a year. 15 would probably be close enough given their past accuracy with predictions.

PD Are probably worried about Project Cars.

I wonder if they even see it as a competitor. In many ways it isn't (although in many ways it very much is as well).

I am sure that they are looking very closely. I will certainly be getting PC in November. I promised myself I would only buy a PS4 when GT7 ships but this has now changed with PC on the horizon. I will always play GT but not exclusively.

The community I race with are considering running PC events alongside the GT6 ones already, never has this ever been suggested among the GT die-hards I race with.

Considering that they mentioned during GT5 development that they don't really take much notice of other racing games (and there's evidence to back that up in some of their design choices) I wouldn't take it as a given. Especially given that one of the defining features of GT in recent years has been it's enormous car selection, I could see how they might think otherwise.

They'd be wrong, of course. GT3 sold perfectly well with a similarly limited car selection, and was released at roughly the same time into a consoles life cycle. pCARS is an almost perfect competitor in that it's what GT could have evolved into had the focus stayed on only releasing content of the highest quality.

I would not read too much in the "We do not take notice of other games" I am sure they look, although their game does not reflect this like you say. PD are on a train to no where, they have to be careful. Sure the casual gamers will always buy GT, though evidently less so for GT6 versus previous versions, and the hard core racer is looking for other hits. I hope GT7 will put the franchise back on track but I do not have any faith.

Maybe PD's recent silence is a little reflection time for them I hope.

So two days before this post, Jordan hinted at a FFB update which happened the following day and there was also a new Pit Stop blog on same day as your post.

That to me is quite vocal than usual.
