hello, i just got this day 5 days ago and i have bought an alfa romeo 147 GTA. the mods that i bought for it was: na tuneup stage 2, full costomize susp.,weight reduc.1, triple plate cultch and racing chip. the tires are sport medium. I took it to an GTA race and i found that the car was understeering horribly. btw my susp. setup is :dunce: (spring rate: f: 7.2, r: 5.6), (ride height: f:100, r:108), (anti-roll bar:f:4, r:6), ASM(over): 3, ASM(under):12, TCS:1.
If anyone can tell me wut have have setup wrong, plz tell me. thx for the help 👍 👍 👍

You have a 300hp+ FF car. THAT'S the cause of your understeer problem.

Turning the ASM off totally would be a good start. Try a rear toe of -2 as well.

Setting camber to 3.5/1.5 would probably help a bit. Possibly keep ride height the same front and rear. Soften the front springs a bit and set stabilisers to 2/4. Might help a bit.

i would stiffen the spring rate, then lower the ride height a bit
and its alright to have the front lower if you want the car to turn in better.
learn how to tune the lsd. lower normally = better turning
and of course no aids 👎 but possibly some TCS set to 1 or 2

I agree .

I would even harden the back springs up a extra 1 kg to induce oversteer.

Default shock settings at 8 should be dropped to 5 or 6 in my opinion.

Do each change one at a time to test effectiveness.
Also try searching in the tune and settings forum as this car may have been covered.

Let me add. Don't be disappointed if you can't tune out the understeer completely. The FF Alfas are some of the worst handlers in the game. A Volvo, Honda, Ford or Mazda FF car usually handles much better.

The set-up tips above will help you reduce the understeer, I can't however agree with Niky that the Alfa's are the worst handling FWD cars in the game, but I guess thats personal.

However, you do not need any of the mods you have fitted to win the GTA races, I had some good races using just a stock Alfa 147 GTA with an oil change.

Brake hard and deep into the corners, smooth around the apex and slowly built the throttle until the front wheels are straight (once they are then bury it) or you will just spin the power away and understeer.

If you can't get rid of the understeer or drive around it you may want to consider fitting a 1-way LSD, this will help with the corner exit understeer.

Funny, I love the 147 GTA. That was the one car I wanted buy. Sure it understeers, but traction is more the issue. I think the real challenge is to be precise in steering so you use all the available road. The LSD makes a difference. I find I can drive the GTA harder sooner than many of the classic RWD cars so beloved of many here. Then again, I do drive a real one every day.

Okay, just went back to drive it.... you guys are right... I bow down. The Alfas don't understeer any worse than most, and are actually pretty nimble for front drivers. The stiff suspension set-up allows a fair bit of passive rear-steer without too much excitement.

I guess the main problem in driving the 3.2 Alfa is the lack of traction. I think the Alfa stock is near the limit of what the chassis can handle. I, too, won the Alfa races with a stock Alfa (3.2 GT), and I guess the choice of courses is what makes it feel like it has tons of understeer (Autumn Ring, anyone?).

But to be fair, my favorite front-driver, the Mazda Prot, feels like a wet dog when you tune it over 220hp.

Use racing tires whenever you can, or at least Soft Sport tires when it's a 3-4 lap race.
