Yesterday for the first time a few friends and I decieded to race the X1 on Daytona Speedway. Everything was fine until we hit 280mph and then it starts to get weird. The other cars were showing jittery on the track and at no time could you tell were the other cars really were in relation to your own.

At one point my brother thought he was 100 yards ahead yet on my screen I was 100 yards ahead and on the third guys screen he was showing as being ahead.

We ran 3 races and on each race had to wait for the race results to see what position we were actuall in. On top of this the other cars showing in a different place than were they really were on the track made for a lot of contact that was pretty much impossible to avoid as I would be beside a car on my screen but on his screen no one is beside him and things such as this.

Disappointing really. We were hoping to get out and have some interesting very high speed races but it seems that anything over 280 with more than one car is a problem.

I'd imagine the X2010 put's a great deal of strain on GT5s ability to keep track of where the car is, at 280mph latency alone is going to do some pretty crazy things. Say you and your friend both have 60ms latency (which is very low) in 60 miliseconds at 450km/h your car is moving 7.5 meters, so in the time it takes the actual data to get from your friends PS3 to the server and then to display it on your screen, the actual location of his car has already changed by 13 meters.

And that's at very low latency.

Something is going on for sure. We have raced the Minoltas on this event without any issues and even the X1s are ok until they hit about 280mph. We ran a few times and the cars were spot on until they hit 280 then you could see them jumping around a bit.

Not that big a deal but would be nice if they can work this out in a future patch.

60ms is low for consoles, for a dedicated pc server that pretty high

You should see what happens when you race a group of DeLorean's together and you hit 80mph. Not good.

Haha I remember once I hit 304 mph with the X1 and the road in front of me wouldn't even load that fast.

But that only happened on one track.
Damn, X1 too fast for the ps3.

Heck the online stuff is buggy in general, was using the gtr on special stage something or other just in free ride, and the whole bridge area and the main turns leading up to and out of that area and few other spots were just gone. Had to stop the car and allow the track to render, else i ran into the inside or outside guardrails trying to guess where the turns were. This was in interior view, but when i switched to exterior to get a view of all the damage to the car blindly taking turns the game drew all but a few incidental spots on the track perfectly well.

Like the game online cannot handle rendering the interior of the car and the track at the same time. Really hope they get these glitches sorted out asap cause it really takes any fun out of just driving in general online, can't imagine trying to actually race if whole sections of the tracks just do not render.
