Yeah, the Professional League shows the races as "Italian Avant Grade", even though the graphic of the race has it spelled correctly (in some freaky font that makes the A look like an R anyway)...
I just did these races last night in the C12S I got from the Pro/NA races. The first (Rome Circuit) was won somewhat easily, as all opponents pitted after their 9th lap. The second, however, was a pain in the ass (Rome Circuit II), as the field DID NOT pit... It took me 3 attempts before I finally won the 2nd race...
I wanted to spend as little as possible upgrading the C12S, so that it would barely win. I did a bit of test driving, and found that all I needed were the NA Tune-up/Stage 1, Transmission/Sports, and Sports Tires. Actually, it seemed that the Sports Tranny was only needed for the 2nd race, as pit strategy accounts mostly for the win of the 1st one...
But this wasn't all I needed. With some "creatively reckless" driving (wall-riding & crash-turning), You can make laps for both tracks around 1.21.XXX (barely good enough for the pole (1 qualifying lap))... in a car that has 48 hp less than the others. This isn't too much of a big deal for the first race, where everyone else pits, but it played a HUGE role for the 2nd (where I felt the need to qualify). My margin of victory for Rome II was around 3 seconds.
Rome II was such a tight race I saved the replay. If anyone wants some info on which turns are better to take "unrealistically", lemme know and I'll make another post. Just keep in mind that some turns are taken better legitimately.
The reasons I used the C12S are that I didn't want to give up a better prize car from the place I would've won the Zonda Race Car (Endurance/Passage to Colosseo), and I was actually looking forward to this match-up. Maybe if they came in different colors and/or numbers, I'd feel different.
So, it's possible to beat the ZRC's with the C12S without being fully modded... Once I freed myself from the "afraid to crash" mindset, the line became clear to me...
Here are the settings for the C12S, and the race results (since the ZRC's are indistinguishable, I don't know if the #2 starter ended 6th or 5th etc., and I haven't watched the replay for Rome II yet)...
Zonda C12S: + NA Tune-up/Stage 1 (-5000); + Transmission/Sports (-5800); + Sports Tires (-6500) = 17300 Cr spent
Settings: Default [Gear Ratios: 1=3.271; 2=2.164; 3=1.564; 4=1.186; 5=0.945; 6=0.790; 7=----; F=3.429 | Downforce: F=0.29; R=0.47 | ASM=10 | TCS=5]
Day 81
Professional/Italian Avant Garde: 10 Laps @ Rome Circuit
[Finishing Position] (Starting Position) Vehicle = Total Race Time [best lap] (qualifying time, if any)
[1] (6) Zonda C12S = 14.04.228 [best lap 1.22.067]
[2] (1) Zonda Race Car = 14.07.481
[3] (2) Zonda Race Car = 14.08.306
[4] (3) Zonda Race Car = 14.09.182
[5] (4) Zonda Race Car = 14.11.449
[6] (5) Zonda Race Car = 14.12.117
I did not pit for this race. The AI pitted after their 9th lap (before they started their 10th). The C12S started with 0.0 mi and 603 hp, and ended with ~25 mi and 603 hp.
Day 82
Professional/Italian Avant Garde: 10 Laps @ Rome Circuit II
[Finishing Position] (Starting Position) Vehicle = Total Race Time [best lap] (qualifying time, if any)
[1] (1) Zonda C12S = 13.53.458 [best lap 1.21.560] (1.21.560)
[2] (2) Zonda Race Car = 13.56.698 (1.21.648)
[3] (3) Zonda Race Car = 13.57.591 (1.21.675)
[4] (4) Zonda Race Car = 14.00.157 (1.21.760)
[5] (5) Zonda Race Car = 14.00.259 (1.22.605)
[6] (6) Zonda Race Car = 14.02.468 (1.22.620)
NOBODY pitted for this race. The C12S started with ~25 mi and 603 hp, and ended with 50.5 mi and 603 hp.
Hope this helps others trying to beat the ZRCs in the "Nice looking hunk o' junk"... the C12S. Have a great drive, everyone!
