It's a good job real car sprayers aren't like GT5's spray shop!

I finaly managed to do a trade for 2 matte dark green paint chips earlier so along with my matte dark red which looks more like brown i decided to do a military themed spray job. I purchased a brand new Camaro SS '10 in metallic blue without any stripes. Bought new wheels, sprayed them, sprayed the car and . . . it came out with white stripes down the middle! Gutted. So i questioned myself, did i accidently buy the one with stripes? Took the gamble and bought another one, it deafinatly didn't have stripes ! Repeated the process and the damn thing did it again, came out with gloss white stripes! 4 matte paint chips wasted and 2 cars ruined. Tried respraying them and it still has the stripes. If my local sprayer did that when i had my car done i think he would have required surgery to remove his spray gun from where the sun doesn't shine. 👎
 
If you tried that are your local sprayer, I daresay you could tell him you didn't want stripes. Or you did want stripes. He might even have photo editing software that lets you see what the car will look like before you spray it....

Anyway, if that happens again, quit the game right after the car's been sprayed. The game wont have saved, and you still have the car in the original colour and you still have your paint chip.
 
Yeah, i can't believe i didn't even think of saving - was just p!55ed off with it happening and totaly forgot to save! Does seem to be a bad 'glitch' if you can't spray the car the way you want!

What? Their is no question. But there's also no section saying 'faulty spray shop' so it seemed best to put it here rather than the marketplace or B-spec. But thanks for your useful contribution ! :dopey:

no, thank you for yours, since we have a general section this can be posted in. This certainly doesn't belong in Q&A since you yourself admitted this is neither or.

Click on the 'Gran Turismo 5' up top, and from there, scroll down and POOF!!! A general section for useless stuff related to GT5.
 
Well i havn't seen a general section, if i did then i would have put it in there so that i didn't get people with nothing better to do than complain that a friggin thread is in the wrong section !! People like you do my head in, it's a damn forum, not a matter of life or death so was it really worth wasting both our time for such a pointless complaint?
If any moderators see this, then please move it to a different section just so that Junior here doesn't get upset at threads not being where he wants them.

It has nothing to do where I want them, it has to do with this being an informational forum so people have someplace to look for answers or ask questions.
This crap just spams the sub forum and helps absolutely no one, good job.

Hint: read the sticky's in any forum you join/peruse, they're there for a reason.

The Camaro SS 10 does that.
I don't know why but when you paint it, it comes out with stripes with most/any colors.
I painted mine reflex purple and it happens . Sorry, but I think you'll have to try a different car.

Well in the nicest possible way i'm glad to hear some one else has witnessed this because i thought i was going nuts! Seems a real shame doesn't it as i think the Camaro SS '10 has some great lines on it that suits mattes and flips. I'm wondering about using a Mustang but i think that's tempting fate again what with them having stripes, haha! Maybe the Trans-Cammer tuned car ?

Right, i don't know how many times i'm going to have to say this - what i've copied and pasted is what i see on my screen - there are no options for general forums, no threads below it, that's where my page ends. Like i said, if i had that option don't you think i would have used it ? If it helps you, i'll edit my thread title so it asks if it's happened to anyone else !
 
Okay, let me be the one to clear this up. There is no "general" sub-forum, just all the threads below that which aren't in a sub-forum form the general sub-forum. It's not labeled, it's just all the threads you see after you click "gt5"

I wish i could see some threads below those options, but i have nothing below them - where those options ends is where my page ends. The only threads i can view are under the new posts banner and i can only ever view 4 pages.

No stripes, though the front fenders have a 'fast and the furious' style decal running down them.
 
Seriously, another of the tiny little huge flaws in GT5. How hard can it be to do a simple "Preview" option? Just render the car as it would look like after the paint but don't save the paint status until the "Ok" button is pressed. Too hard?
 
Yeah, that would be a great option to have - never mind though, just hope that having this thread may help if anyone else was going to do a paint job on an SS'10 and ends up with unwanted stripes! Hopefuly getting some more matte dark greens soon so i will remember to save my game before spraying. Still not decided on a new car yet though.
 
I painted an Audi R8 white,(it was blue all round) and afterwards the intake thing was black,we are in the same boat.

There seems to be some confusion about when posts are helpful and informative. I would say let the forum decide.

I also agree that a paint preview would be helpful, or maybe an undo button.

It's because THEY spray the car the way They want it, you only provide the color chip and funds. You gotta admit, they are fast though! I wish I could toss a coat of paint on my cars that quick. I'd have a different colored car every day of the week. lol
 
This also happens with interior colours which change when you paint the car in those cases where a car is available with several interior colour options, it always changes to a "neutral" colour like a black or grey one also available in the selection.
My guess is that PD uses one default setting for each car when you paint them, probably for the sake of convenience or because of technical issues (to not overcomplicate things) or whatever reason.
They, I think, basically programmed each car to receive either a certain interior colour only, stripes only, specific details like that R8 intake in one colour only, etc.
Strangely enough some "byproducts" aren't available unless you use the paintshop, for example when you paint the Scuderia its stripes turn white (white stripes aren't available in the dealership, only dark greyish).
Would be nice to be told this though before ruining many cars, and I do wish you could paint the Samba bus and keep the two-tone theme (only paint the lower half). :)
 
Ya I wish so bad they showed what the actual car looked like in the paint colour before u decide to waste the chip. I hate seeing the mini car thing look good and painting the whole car and having it suck after.

Not worried chief, was just annoyed that my posts weren't being read correctly about what options were available to me. I'm sure they were available to him, but what i copied and pasted was exactly what i saw on my screen.

However, since then i've changed my browser and now i have the threads below the options. Browser issue, not a user issue!!
 
Try painting a car with the ZO6 Corvette's "Le Mans Blue with Red and Silver Striping" chip. In PD land, stripes get painted on first.
