It's about time to move...

As some of you know, I've been in the works of moving to London, Kentucky now since February when my step-dad got a job there. Once he was given the offer after a series of interviews, we had two weeks before we had to be living down there. During this period of time, I was fortunate enough to have the option of either living with my grandparents and finishing out the school year, or moving down immediately. I chose to stay with my grandparents and knock out my Freshman year. Now I'm only a week away from making the final move. Needless to say I'm very anxious, and worried about how I'll do.

Let me give you a tiny glimps into my family. About 90% of them are already and have been living in Kentucky. How did we end up in Ohio? My grandparents moved to Ohio from Kentucky when they got married. Although my grandfather had already been living in Ohio since he was 10 (you guessed it, moved from Kentucky). He was in the army, landed in Kentucky to meet his family, and met my grandmother. Well, I love Kentucky to death. I love visiting our family there, and just the life style. During a family reunion back in early September, I looked out to the Appalachian mountains while walking with my cousin to his house. Casually I said "I'd love to live here some day." WHAM! Here I am. I guess God hears us a little more clearly than we think. In fact, I think he takes our dreams and wishes a heck of a lot more seriously than we do.

"What's the problem if you like it down there?" you may ask? PRESSURE. See, my step-dad is well respected in his career field. My parents in general are very well liked. In a sense I feel a bit pressured to do everything perfectly. Of course that is not what my parents are asking of me. They just hope I do well and like it down there. I'm a good kid so it's not stupid mistakes I'm worried about. Maybe I'm scared I won't be liked? I don't know. I've also been doing extremely well in school this year. Lots of terrific things have been happening for me, especially in ROTC. Luckily they have Air Force ROTC down there as well, so I'm very relieved about that. I hope I'll do equally as well down there.

I also don't know that many people. All the people I know work for my dad, which is fine. The guys I work with are real nice and I'll be at the same high school as them, but I probably will never see them there. I realize though that this stuff takes time, so I'm not going to rush it. I'll be visiting there this Wedsenday for specific reasons but also to drop some of my stuff off at the house. Then it's back to Ohio, and then down to Kentucky for good. I will be visiting Ohio once a month though, which is nice.

I'm scared. :nervous: Any advice?

Seems to me you're just nervous. Perfectly natural, but I'd say you have all the right things going for you. Keep your faith in God. You'll do fine! ;)

I think you will do pretty fine, and that you must not feel that pressure. If something is fine with you, if you are doing what you LIKE, you must not feel like that. if you are doing something you MUST do, or something you dont like, then you shouldnt be too hard on yourself. yeah, its fine that you sacrifice yourself and something to be good to other people, but you dont have to be that hard with you. you shouldnt feel pressure. 'sides, I didnt see anything THAT bad in what you are gonna do... so, I guess you should be fine. as Bastid said, it may be just that you're nervous... relax and, enjoy!! even, enjoy that you will miss all of this... that way youll enjoy it more when you come back!!!

Ash, you are my best friend. I know you will fit right in there. You will make friends quickly I'm sure. You're just such a loving, kind, and generous person...I'm going to miss you so much. Eventually, I'll get married and of course you are invited in advance. (*COUGH*Bridesmaid!*COUGH* remember our promise?) And I'll always be here for you, BFF!!!!!:D

Let's be friends, Eric!!!

Moving usually sucks, just try not to feel too pressurized (obviously) and don't worry about not knowing anyone. Friends are easily made. Goodluck.

But will you be my bestest friend in the world? So I can say it in public every day?

Your BFITW? I don't know... that's a big responsibility!

I've never moved in my 16 years. Actually, my family has been in this house since mid 1983. I don't want to move, unless it's somewhere else in STL. Plus with all of the stuff we have here, and our 7 Mazda fleet, moving would be a big problem and expensive.

Ohh, and you girls(TarnishedAngel5 & Blazing20 (and Milefile as well ;) ), you still have the net and the phone don't you? Ohio to Kentucky isn't far at all.

Think of all the birthday presents i will get from my new BFITW's.

11.858 members = 11.858 BFITW's = 11.858 presents.

I really have to start on my wish-list.

The toliet is that way. *Points*

Don't you just love having us girls around to add a woman's touch to this bachelor pad?

Most of you dudes need to scrap the macho stuff,... we all have friends and we all appreciate them. Whether it's thanx for the settings advice or your my BFITW,.... it's recognition to eachother and appreciation for what we do for one and other.

On the other side of the coin,... the only 'woman's touch' that needs adding here is a couple of PB bunnies posted in the corner of every thread :D :p

BTW, good luck blazin,... you'll do fine if your smiling and attemtping to participate in a friendly mannor 👍

I don't mind having girls here, it's the bestest friend in the whole world thing...it makes them sound like 10 year olds or something. No offense if they are though.

No they aren't. In thier profile, Blazin is 16 and Tarnished is 15.

Think before you speak Josh!

Thank you for pointing that out Red Eye Racer! Girls just express their appreciation better than most guys I think.
Thanks for the encouraging words.

:grumpy::grumpy: Listening to you men carry on reminds me of 10 year old school girls arguing over Barbie doll accessories.
