Thanks Giles. I'll look into that stuff you suggested.

I actually saw Scissor Sisters on one of the late-night shows. Their singer was very good, perhaps a little gay, but very good. :) They are definitely different from what I usually listen to but seems like a relief sometimes.

Put it this way: all of the Scissor Sisters members prefer to have sex with men...

A colleague of mine saw them at New Year, and described them as "a gay cabaret act".

Id like to recomment Superjoint ritual, all other bands to me sound the same, im not a big music person but this band is really at the height of talent

Klos, you continue to unearth great music to investigate. Great job.

After Uncle Tupelo broke up in the mid '90s, one of the two main guys went on to form Son Volt, the other went on to form Wilco.

They're not directly related, but if you like Uncle Tupelo, look into these bands:

The Del Fuegos (their first album Longest Day is great, and they're hometown boys for you)
The Long Ryders (Native Sons is the one to look into)

I would suggest old Rock music, spice it up a little with some Metal/Hard Rock once in a while, and drop the Pop culture altogether... too repetitive.
Here are some suggestions:
Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin
Dire Straits
Doors
Metallica

If you have tried with this type of music already, then there is always your last resort... Classical Music  I am glad I am not THAT bored with my personal selection of Rock music, yet, to the point in which I have to resort to Classical Music... Don't get me wrong, there is nothing bad about Classical Music, in fact I like it a lot, but I am just not feeling it right now, I am not "OLD" enough yet for that... lol! :D

EDIT: Oh, and yeah, try some Italian Rock as well, VASCO ROSSI rulez!

The Wizard.

Roger Waters - Radio K.A.O.S.: Again, a little on the depressing side, and ends up a bit mawkish, but the whole album tells quite an interesting story.
Roger Waters is still making music?!

I have his The Pros And Cons of Hitchhiking album and didn't think it was that great...

Radio KAOS is from approximately the same vintage as Hitchhiking. And yeah, I didn't think too much of it either.

That gets old really fast… I'm so sick of Led Zeppelin right now that I refuse to play anything but Immigrant Song, Stairway to Heaven, and Achilles Last Stand. Everything else makes me fall asleep.

Pupik:

I am tired of albums with one good song. I am tired of overly distorted noise. I am tired of trite lyrics. I am looking for something with substance, yet won't depress the heck out of me.
Well, Duke already mentioned 'em, but you sound like the perfect candidate for They Might Be Giants. :D And it's taken me several years, but I finally have all 10 of their albums (yes, 10… they make a lot of music, and 95% of it is good music).

Yeah, you are probably right. But Pink Floyd has an emotional/sentimental value to me :sly: I grew up with Pink Floyd, my dad used to play it everytime we went for a trip somewhere, or at home, and if he didn't, I would ask him to do it. I was obsessed with Pink Floyd and I still am. Sometime I take a break, and alternate to other bands that I like, or listen to something new, but, you can bet, whenever I get tired of that, I always go back to my good ol' trusty Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd will NEVER grow old on me, I have too many memories associated with it 👍

Just sharing my opinions, nothing personal

Dredg - Leitmotif
Dredg - El Cielo
Muse - Origin Of Symmetry
...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead - Worlds Apart
...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead - Source, Tags And Codes

And If you want something really 'different', try
The Blood Brothers - Crimes
The Blood Brothers - Burn, Piano Island, Burn
The Go! Team - Thunder, Lightning, Strike

The Blood Brothers!!

No way dude. That isn't music just noise. I saw them with Against Me, who I also don't like, but had to go because my girlfriend loves them.

The Blood Brothers were so bad I couldn't even watch them. I had to sit down in the corner until they stopped playing.

They may not appeal to you, but they are different. What I really like about them is their "We do EXACTLY what we want to do and don't give a rat's ass about anyone else's opinion" vibe. They intend to please no one but themselves and just use their music as basic means of expression.

In a way it's expressionistic smurf-spazz-punk if you'd really want to apply some kind of label to them. It's not so much the music as the idea and feeling behind it that counts for me when it comes to the Blood Brothers.

And taking this into account is the reason why I put them apart to the end in my posting.

in only 16 and all the music i listen to is early and mid 90's like tupac, oasis, Nervana, smashing pumpkins. the only modern music i listen to is like slipknot and marilyn manson. and 50 cent and g-unit beceause they sound a lot like the gangster rap from the early 90's.

I'm getting exactly what you guys are saying. I haven't found anything in a while thats really captured me. Everything I listen to now just seems to sound ok.
Though recently a scotish band called Biffy Clyro have really stirred me up. Think they're great, I can't put them to anything, they're rock though. Not the most easiest of bands to listen to, but still very good. Giles you heard much by them?
Also are another group called The Music, I quite like.
Ordinary Boys I've just got into as well, I think they're a kinda 80's pop punk, but very easy to listen to and peronsally think they're fresh. Get a song called "over the counter culture."
Also you probably have, but have you heard anything by The Manic Street Preachers?

Since I was about 8yrs old, I have been listening to people like 'The Eagles' and 'Queen', and now I am 15yrs old, and I still listen to it, and I always will until something half decent comes along
