It's Nitrous. Nitrous Oxide to be exact.

N20, Nitrous, Nitrous Oxide. Call it what you want..but PLEASE quit saying "NOS". "NOS" is a popular brand of nitrous made by Holley. "NOS"s name stands for "Nitrous Oxide Systems". The "NOS" logo is usually followed by a very small "Holley" logo. Hence making the name "Holley Nitrous Oxide Systems". I know, the "cool" people say NOS,and so do the ricers in The Fast And The Furious. I just get sick of people calling Nitrous Oxide "NOS". It makes me immediately think of some ricer saying "My NAWwWWZZZZ Is So Tight Yo".

Please people, help humanity and say Nitrous,N20,Nitrous Oxide,Boost Juice, whatever.Just quit saying NOS for gods sake!

Okay, but only if you'll cross your heart and promise to always hit the "Space" bar every time after you insert a comma or period, and always capitalize the word "God".

You gotta meet us halfway here...

NOS is an acronym for Nitrous Oxide System. The way people use it is to describe the setup. There's nothing wrong with using the word NOS to describe, guess what, a nitrous oxide system.

You're fighting the wrong battle unless you're attacking people for calling the actual substance NOS. That, in turn, would be incorrect.

I don't see the big deal. you can have a NOS by Nos by Holley, a NOS by NX, a NOS by Venom. It doesn't matter, as long as we know what you're refering to.

Was this really worth making a topic over? No one here acts like that and everyone knows what the hell you mean whether you say Nitrous, NOS, or n20. Give it a rest.

i totally ****ing agree machone. its not right but everyone is content with being dumb. just look at the response this thread got..
and in my experience on this forum, you know a lot about driving and give good information to people who wont listen.

Am I content with being dumb?

By the way, Physics, it's N2O, not N20. THERE'S something to fuss about.

@ MachOne, you've just disappointed me. I expected better of you.

1. A thread on the same subject started only 2 days ago https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=68609 post #8.
On this one you're Don Quichotte fighting windmills, a battle you'll lose.

2. You've offended the rules, no name calling, sir!.

No go wash your mouth and promise never to do that again. :)

In older builds of gt4, it said NOS but for some reason they dont have that NOS license in the full version. WHo cares if someone says nos or nitrous. Wawawah, sound ricey? who cares. just another thing to complain about.

I see ur point machone although i may be one of those odd ones who actually say nitrous, u cant really expect the people in gtplanet to stop saying wat they are used to saying. u get my drift??

I totally agree, machone. I can't stand it, and no, NOS does NOT stand for "Nitrous Oxide System", it stands for "Nitrous Oxide Systems" which is a brand name. If someone who worked for Zex, Nitrous Express, etc heard you refer to their system as "NOS" they'd slap you sideways! It's "nitrous" if you want to abbreviate it. If you want to type it in as few letters as possible because you're lazy, it's N2O. If you want to refer to a specific brand because that's what you have on your car, or it's better or worse than another brand, then you can say "NOS". You don't hear people saying "yeah, I put a new Yokohama on my car" when it's a Michelin just because a lot of drifters use Yokohamas, so why do it with NOS? Laziness? I don't blame machone for trying to educate people who might not know better that it's not actually NOS. Now if you do actually know that it's not NOS and you choose to call it that anyway, then that's your problem, but don't be surprised when people get annoyed and label you as ignorant.

Slip a friendly neighbourhood admin some money and I'm sure he'll put NOS in the swear filter for you.....

Dam, beat me to that metaphor, was just going to use that, Yokohamas. 👍 👍 I hate it when ppl say NOS this NOS that, dammit, it's just a brand name.

I hate it when people say NOS, it does bug me. But you can't change people. Also techincally shouldn't it be ON2? Since in chemistry the the non-subscripted number should be first if I'm not mistaken.

I just call it Nitrous, or Nitro (I know thats not correct).

Who really gives a damn? This is about the most stupid thing to complain about, nonetheless make a thread about it. People who pick things apart are far more annoying than anyone who would say 'Nos' casually. This thread is no better than 'Poll: What is the best car?' or 'My friend said if you buy all the black cars you get the Ice Cream truck.'

It's like little school children arguing about how 'Stop calling your binder a Trapper Keeper, that's just a brand name!...' Give me a break...

"Put a 70-shot of nitrous oxide system into the engine". Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. And how can you say "who cares" when obviously more than a few people do. NOS is a slang term that people use to describe their "sick wicked slammed civic yo! I gots me like uh 200 shot of naws on in my 1.8, so I'm making like....350 horsepower, yo dawg! Don't be all up in my grill or I'll spray my naws all over yo shizzle, dizzle!" Why encourage the spread of improper language use and miseducation? And if you use it, don't try to justify it. Just say "I'm going to say it because I want to. I know it's not actually NOS, but I'm too lazy to type "nitrous" and I want to sound cool like all my cool friends who say NOS and have fart cans on their cars". I'd actually respect you more for that than for trying to defend it. And my version of GT4 doesn't say "NOS" anywhere in it, I'm sure they removed it because one of NOS' competitors complained, or they realized how stupid it was.

"NOS"

I believe that'll be you pwned then? :)

Eh... Mine says a "Equipped", not NOS on the screen for me. But I'm not saying NOS is wrong to say. Just mine doesn't say that. Maybe it differs from the PAL version and NTSC.

i also hate it when people type pwned... thats one of the most retarded things on the internet.

OK - I agree with MachOne on this one. NOS is the brand name, Nitrous Oxide is the product.

Don't call it NOS if it's not a NOS system, and don't use NOS to refer to Nitrous Oxide.

As for:
ammp88
In that picture is it has

Supercharger: Apply

so IMO that picture has no credibility and owns nothing!

@ JTSnooks - You just got my signature... :)

...and saying strangers are retarded for what they type...? That's clever, is it?

This worthless crap isn't locked yet? Come on now...at least non-searched posts usually relate to GT4...

In GT4 it's called NOS, presumably because they licensed the brand, so using the term NOS in refference to the N2O in GT4 is infact correct terminology.

If it's so worthless why do you keep returning? Let the moderators do their job their own way.
