I have copied a CD using iTunes but I cant skip through the tracks ? It plays the songs in the right order but I cant skip to any of them ?

I got the music data from Win MX so does this mean that a user uploaded it as one single track ?? It will search through individual songs on iTunes.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that it may be possible that iTunes created one large file of the ripped cd instead of creating separate files. I'm not 100% positive though. Check the folder where iTunes ripped the cd to and see if there are separate tracks or one large file.

Honestly, I haven't the slightest idea as to why you can't skip tracks.

umm...does the cd work under a regular cd player or other audio apps? if it does, it's just because iTunes is weird. If it doesn't, then the cd was burnt as one file rather than separate tracks

Isn't Win MX a file sharing program?

I haven't got the foggiest what you're talking about there James. You talk about copying a cd and then problems with downloaded music data.

Sort of need more information.

^-- What he said... ripping from a CD and downloading an audio file are two very different things.

Also, I should note in advance that any discussion of file-sharing (aka stealing) is strictly prohibited here.

Well Ive never though t of WinMX like that although thinking about it now I suppose its plainly obvious that its not the most kosher of things !!

Ive asked things about winMX before and no-one has mentioned anything but rest assured I wont be mentioning it again, due to its non-acceptable discussion here. I wouldnt want to break any rules or pi88 anyone off.

BTW I have only tried the CD in g/f car stereo - I'll try it in another stereo but I think its because of where I d/l it from, I think it came as a complete file - possibly !

Try stopping the current song, then double click on the song you want to skip too.

Yeah - It skips forward by each song on the PC but not in the stereo in the car ??? Its a crappy old one that I am changing soon so that might be the problem ?? Can only wait and see I suppose - thanks though for suggesting ideas

Does filesharing pictures count? If so, uh oh, GTPlanet's in trouble....

Car stereos are renoundly dodgy when it comes to copied cds. You have to buy special head units that play Cd-Rs.
I'm hearing that gold-coloured disks (When you look at the bottom) work fine, where as blue coloured disks are crappy. I have a 93 Dodge Caravan (go ahead and laugh, at least it gets me where I need to get to), and since the CD Player in that thing is from when the car was new (I'm guessing late 1992), it doesn't play burnt cd's too well. Unfortunately, I don't trust it too much, so I don't like to play my original CD's in it, either. I'm too afraid they'll get scratched up if I have them in there too often, or when I leave them in the car during the winter, and the car's parked outside (Keep in mind, I'm in Minnesota here, where summers get to be 105 degrees in the shade in the summer, and -20 degrees in the winter, excluding the windchill) You got to love extrema. Anyway, I'm going to try out those gold-coloured cd's, because I don't want A Rush of BLood to the Head to get ruined.....
