Also in GT3 I'm pretty sure the NTSC-J version had considerably higher prices for all the cars, parts etc. therefore representing the Yen currency kind of.

The credits in Chinese GT4 is a 1/100 of the Japanese version, clearly representing the American currency. This happens to be the international currency outside Japan as well. (As of today, 1 US Dollar = 102.690 Japanese Yen. This rate is VERY low, as years before we get around 120 yen)

I think what he's saying is this:

Pay the fee to get onto the track with whatever car you want to test with...
Then, as you test your car, you also fine tune the settings...
Then, once you've found what you want, exit the game but don't save...thereby when the game is loaded again, you'll have the same amount of credits...but you'll also now know what to set a specific car to in regards to settings...the only thing one would have to do in this situation though is to probably write down what each setting is, so when the game is loaded the 2nd time around, you'll be able to remember exactly what each setting is!

Logical idea to do something like this, but I think after awhile, it would become quite tiresome?

Or, have I missed the whole idea in reality(?)

Question: Is all that effort really worth it over 100 cr.?

In GT4 in GT mode there is a Free Run option that you can go on any course you've unlocked with any car from your garage that you own. There is an option to 'Test Drive' the car around the track for a small sum of credits so that you can fine tune your settings to make your car go that few seconds quicker. This mode is used instead of the GT3 option where you could go into 'Free Run' in Arcade mode and fine tune the settings there...that's all.

Also in GT3 I'm pretty sure the NTSC-J version had considerably higher prices for all the cars, parts etc. therefore representing the Yen currency kind of.
Thanks 👍

I don't see spending money to fine tune your car a big deal. You make your money back when racing and even if you finished in 6th place in the beginner's races it would probally cover the cost of your track day.

The only time i can see this becoming a problem is at the start when you're doing endless sunday cup races to buy parts for your car to make it competitive in higher leagues like clubman cup, as money always was hard to come by at the start. Although since even all bronze medals on licences can earn you cars i guess there will be less repeating of races for money.

It won't be a problem.
You see...you don't have to get all gold in license test to recive(?) a car ;)
Am I wrong?

Yep, makes sense . They should make it that like once you have completed 100 percent of GT4, THEN u can use your garage cars in Arcade mode.

I'd rather save, test the car, then reset the game and continue, having tested the car yet spent $0.00 credits. :sly:

that's such a waste of time. The cost is so small. In the NA version it will be roughly 50-100cr...so I don't see what the big deal is, lol. Once you pay you can tune/race as much as you want until you FULLY exit the course. You can exit the race, tune, race, exit race, tune, race...but once you completely exit and go back to course selection, you have to pay again...resetting is...well...waste of time, lol.

Maybe he's referring to the bug in GT2 where if you set too many quarter-mile times, the garage clears. As far as I know, no one has encountered any kind of similar bug in GT4.
thanks.
I never did it in GT3 after what happened in GT2. I guess I'll force myself to accept the bug is long gone.

Actually, this idea does not seem logical at all. Why? Because is basically cost nothing at all to test you car (free run) in gt mode. If you work it out, 1,000,000 cr in the Japanese ntsc version is equal to 10,000 cr in the chinese version and the chinese version's credits system is roughly equivilent to north american credits/currency. So in the Japanese version, it only cost a mere 500 cr to run your car in free mode. That 500cr would be equivilent to like 5 credits/dollars only. Beleive me in the japanese version, 500cr is like nothing, and having to pay a small amount to run your car in free run is just a simple gimmack to make it more realistic to an extent. Sorry if i sound mean, but having to reset your console to restart the game just so you can save yourself 500cr (equal to 5cr for chinese/north american credit system) is a joke i think. So in conclusion, this does not explain why you cannot use you own cars in arcade mode. So i totally disagree with your theory. I wished i knew what PD's reason was for not including it.

One question...

If buying winning cars in GT mode unlocks cars in Arcade mode... do they have to stay in your garage or does the game remember which ones you've unlocked and keep them available in Arcade mode forever?!

C.

There are some cars in Arcade mode that I haven't won yet so there is a selection available initially, including some "claissics". I saw the '48 Beetle and the 300 SL Gullwing.

I still have some tracks to unlock for Arcade and Test Drive mode.

They didn't include it, because its what we least expected :odd: <insert X files music here>

Sorry but the whole 'its missing since people are too cheap to spend 50(PAL equivalent?) pretend credits in a game to test a car & prefer wasting time cheating when they could be earning 30000 credits in a race' is a load of bull.
