Jann Mardenborough's Twitter challenge

So I was casually browsing last night, and on checking Twitter stumbled upon this:



Keen to test myself against the 2011 European GT Academy champion, I decided to give it a go earlier this afternoon. I gave myself 5 laps to set as quick as lap as I could, and here was the result:

Drat. I was three tenths up on lap 5 when I went too fast through a corner and slammed into the barrier. I don't think I was going to beat Jann's time anyway; at most the lap was looking to be a high 9:11 or low 9:12. Still, I guess I can't be too unhappy about being only two seconds slower, seeing as that's less than two hundredths per corner on this track. (UPDATE: I've since managed a 9:10.406.)

Feel free to post your own times in this thread, or even as a reply to Jann's original tweet. Here are the settings I used:

• Traction control off
• Grip reduction real
• Comfort soft tyres (stock)
• No oil change
• Skid recovery force off

Comfort softs, which are indeed the stock tyre on the Swift.

EDIT: Finally managed a 9:10.406 on lap 7. I was shocked to find so much time in the second half of the lap!

Also, @GTP_Ingram managed a 9:10.874 on his 6th lap. 👍

You are driving without skid recovery force, yes?

Yes, skid recovery force is turned off.

I managed a 9:11.999 on my third lap, with a DS3. I can't find much more than a few tenths I think.

Still, pretty happy with that.

Yeah I was happy enough with that. I wanted to limit myself to the same number of laps as Jann for fairness' sake, but needed one more as I fluffed my fifth!

2nd lap I somehow managed to do an entire lap without any (noticeable) mistakes, I only made a 3/4 on my first run and was 10 seconds slower.

That is not even related to this thread. This is not a glitch or an issue with the game at all.

This is related to GT Academy in which Jordan and other Admins post stories about GTA drivers and such. By the way, I was not suggesting/demanding that it be put on the front page. I was simply showing an opportunity that he might like.

For anyone curious to know why Jann was practising in a Swift Sport around the Nordschleife, here's the answer:



Jann is in the camera car, chasing Wolfgang Reip.

With "Engine tuning Stage 1" you get similar power and torque to the current Swift Sport.
