January's Forza 7 Bounty Hunter Target is Turn 10's John Schommer

There's one exception to this: Rewind. If you rewind anywhere in your last sector but are otherwise clean, the next lap won't be dirtied from the get-go.

In a challenge like this, that can be handy. I keep Rewind on in case of any silly AI moves, so if they ruin my first corner, I'll just rewind to behind the start/finish and try again. :D
If you dirty your lap right near the end, even if you only use rewind, it takes more than one rewind to clear the next lap. I rewind at least twice and sometimes as many as six times to make sure the next lap is clean.

The closest comparison would be SRF in Gran Turismo 6, a magic “give me more grip” switch essentially.

So I finally set a clean lap time (turned EVERYTHING off). Do I get the Escort when the Bounty event ends?

Yes sir. I always thought that you just needed to set a lap to get the participation car, but setting a clean lap is probably the best way to ensure you get the car.

I finally have a couple of minutes to dedicate to lowering my time into the 2:24's. Right now I am sitting at a 2:25.449. I am not sure what the time to beat is, but my goal is to get a 2:22. That's going to take a lot, but judging from the sessions I have ran so far, it's completely do-able for me. Time to get to it. 👍

Some Progress. I improved to a 2:24.400. I set this on the 17th lap.

I believe the sweepers are where I am losing a ton of time. Getting a consistent line for them is tricky. For the time being, I haven't worked out a reliable braking reference for them.

I got down to a mid 2:23 and I'm fairly confident I can drop down to at least a 2:22 with a bit more time behind the wheel. Considering how long the gear ratios are on the Fiesta, I'm not sure using the clutch gives a massive time advantage here, I spent 90% of the lap in 3rd gear.

I might keep trying to get a faster lap, just have to remember not to lock the brakes (hard to do on a keyboard :)) I'm only 6-7 seconds off from beating John.

Few minutes ago I lowered my time to 2:23.938, while John improved his time to 2:24.816!

First time I was driving with manual clutch - I have some problems while downshifting, because LB is clutch and LT brake...

In the controller settings, swap your Handbrake and Clutch, so that Clutch is on A. Then you can press Shift+Clutch simultaneously.

This is what the top players have been doing for many years now.

And yet, wheel users who try to do the same will be greeted with the infamous grinding noise. I was able to get away with pressing the clutch pedal just as I was shifting in Forza 3 and 4. I've even bragged about having lightening quick shifts in econoboxes on FM.net, due to the ability to do that. But in FM7, there seems to be a small delay in the clutch pedal responsiveness. It's definitely not 1:1 and if I pull either of the paddles too soon, I end up grinding gears. I have found my self deliberately waiting before engaging the next (or previous) gear when shifting.

I lack the tools to show this problem, but it is definitely an issue I am having.

Went from an invalid 2:31 to a valid 2:27. So close and yet so far. But I'm learning to find the brake points better without the driving line. Just need to try to get more speed in and out, then maybe I can get under a 2:24.

It's funny how I just wanted the Escort, now I want to beat John and get the Civic FE.

Quick tip with clutch in forza, anything less than 100% will result in miss shifts, if your using paddle shifts with clutch then I would suggest making the outside clutch DZ pretty low ad you will get that 100% much faster and avoid miss shifts.

So far I've managed a 2:21.1xx using clutch and h pattern, which has put me top 10 in my region and top 10 on the hardcore board.

@zaxs So you're the one responsible for yesterdays traffic jam. LOL.

Blue, that made a world of difference. From now on, any question I have about Forza, I will ask you first.

I just watched your video on this months Bounty Hunter event. My racing lines aren't too different from yours... I'm just making the mistake of grabbing the 4th gear, when I should ride 3rd out a little more. LOL. I'll make another attempt later today, after work. Thanks.

On Saturday I was going 2:22.700 in 3rd lap of day, yesterday numerous low 2:23 and today again 2:22.800, but I just can't beat my record from Friday.
I think it's mental, I think I can go high 21 - or maybe not.

Since I have only speedometer (no ghost too - my heart just starts to beat too fast when I'm ahead) from HUD, I don't know about invalid times, but I know there were good ones...

And, John lowered to 2:23.826, just when I was playing too this morning.

John posted a 2:23.826. He apparently isn't going to make this easy for me. :( I didn't manage to beat my 2:24.400 yet. I will try later, after the frustration wears off. I know I can do it. Heck, I've posted a 2:24.422... But by the time that happened, I'm on lap 19 or so, and I am dealing with lapped traffic from both directions.

Are we sure Mechberg isn't driving for him? :D I like John and have watched a lot of his Horizon 3 streams but he always came across as a crash-a-lot-and-use-rewind kind of guy. I'm sure he is fast and it's just the difficulties of trying to drive while concentrating on entertaining your crowd at the same time that made him seem like that to me.

Congrats on the great times and progression, I don't think I will be able to beat him!

2:23.826 was John's final time. I managed to get down to a 2:24.221 after a number of laps. I might be able to find the rest tonight.

I'm having an issue with ghosts appearing, I could really use one to chase so I can have an idea of areas I can improve. Someone on the Forza forum recommended loading a rival's replay, backing out of the replay and then choosing them as a rival to get the ghost to work.
