I was very surprised, that the Japanese car package is now available for purchase on the playstation store (€ 4.99)

I bought it immediately! (I have the standard version not preordered)

now I can finally drive the Civic Euro R with the steering wheel on the left!
 
It's a bit of a crappy move by the publisher to sell the DLC for less than it cost those of us who paid for it up front in the limited edition bundle.
 
If you can still find the Day One edition to PCARS2, the Japanese cars pack code is included. I was surprised to see the Japanese cars pack paper with the code to be included in the Day One edition when i purchased it on November 24th during pre black friday sales at gamestop.

It was free, so unless they are paying people to download it, it’s not cheaper.

Nope, it was a pre-order bonus.

Limited Edition was more expensive than standard so it did not feel free to me.

The Japanese pack came with both standard and limited editions so long as you pre-ordered. If you weren't aware of what was included in each that is on you, not the publisher as they were very clear prior to release.

I didn't pre-order. The Limited Edition comes with a code in the box to activate the Japanese Car Pack. I bought the Limited Edition because of the included code. If I had known it would be available via the store later for less money I would not have bothered paying extra for the Limited Edition.

It's quite common that pre-order bonuses become available at a later date. Sometimes even for free. And the LE also included steelbook and sticker sheet if I recall correctly.
 
My copy is used (35€) one month after the day 1
+5€ japanese dlc
It's a reasonable price
I'm waiting a season pass discount in the store now.... patience
