Nice Jav! Its looking good. I didn't see it in one of your posts but what wheel will you be putting in the cockpit?

I'm guessing it's finished..?
Pics!!

It is finished, I just got my replacement wheel 5 minutes ago so Imight find the motivation to move it and take those pics for you guys!

I'd also like to see what you use to beat me once a week every Friday 8:30-10:30 PM EST. :)

needs final pics, id like to see how you mounted the wheel and pedals. Looks like a good DIY design

I've been following this thread since I joined Jan 3rd. I'm still waiting to see your Final Build!

Maybe he's embarrassed cause it turned out something like this:

I don't know about you guys/gals, but my next cockpit will look something like like this:

It just needs a laptop tray on the right side above the shifter and to the right of the beer...

I gather this was inspired from what you saw of Elderchop's setup? :)

For me, I'm thinking of making a PVC and MDF seat base for a car seat that I'll probably get from one of the nearby auto salvage yards. I already have a DFP on a RennSport Wheel stand and I thought sitting lower to the floor would be a good idea after experiencing discomfort from doing my racing while sitting on a chair that I bring out from the kitchen table. I have my PS3 connected to a TV in the dining room and space is somewhat of a premium where it is given you have to go by there to get to the staircase leading up to the bedrooms. The last few nights, I've brought one of the chairs in from the living room to sit in thinking it would be of a help. Even though it did, it could make getting by where I am to go upstairs a bit of a problem, hence my reason for the possible project.

Why would he be embarrassed by a work in progress?

I finished it by painting it black a long while back and added cupholders (with beer), too. I was thinking about carpeting it. But even if it did look like that still, it wouldn't be anything to be ashamed of. It cost nothing but about 90 minutes of work (already had the lumber and the seats).

What do you have now?

I didn't mean anyone should be embarrassed by that wooden cockpit. Heck I had one until just recently that looked pretty similar (with a laptop tray and a beer holder), but it was taking up space and I'm in the middle of remodeling my basement, so I dismantled it. What I meant was that since he started with a fully metal frame which looked pretty cool, turning out as a 90 min wooden project would have been embarrassing.

Don't get me wrong, I think your wooden cockpit is pretty fine considering it was a 90 minute project and looks pretty functional. It beats what I have now as a temporary setup:

You like my pedal stand? My wife doesn't...

Great cockpit Jav, looking forward to seeing the the final build. It reminds me of the Visionracer cockpit.

Maybe his wing wasn't properly supported and fell forward, slicing his head in two. It could happen.

For full effect, I suggest getting just a trunk lid and bolting the wing to that. It would be more authentic, but make sure you use mis-matched bolts and that it's not perfectly aligned.

Lol!! I promise I'llget some decnt pictures this weekend guys, it is fully completed and I just use it so much I haven't moved it to take the pictures.

Ok guys it's been a long time and I'm sorry to have kept you waiting, so here's the pics of how this thing looks as of today:

That's all for now! Sorry for the crappy pictures! So far I'm pretty happy with it, it has been pretty sturdy and tons of fun!
As every project it will evolve and will never be 100% completed. Looking into getting me a budget friendly shaker/buttkicker, a budget PC dedicated for sim racing games(iRacing) and will be ordering a set of Club Sport Pedals in the coming weeks, so please if you got any suggestions on this items I'd like to read you!
Thank's for looking guys! Hope you like it, I am loving it every day!

That is pretty damn nice! Wish I had the space to build one in my study. It's the only place in my house that my other half would allow. She is in charge of he rest so I only have my small den.
