Hey guys. Well i was trying to check fuses in my brother's girlfriend's 1996 Jeep Cherokee. Anyway i took one out and when i put it back i think i misplaced it. The fuse controled the dash lights. The car doesnt have a manual, so i dont know which place to put the fuse. Anyway, i looked at the placement of fuses and it doesnt seem liek there is a place to put a fuse, the box is wierd looking so hopefully i can show you pictures later. Anyway she said her dad looked at ti and replaced some fuses and now i dont know what to do. Now it is all on me. Besides maybe some help from you guys i think i have to take it to a jeep specialist which could cost money.

I once did the same mistake in my car, and I just resorted to buying higher voltage fuses and putting them all in, replacing lower voltage ones...

I think Cherokees have two fuse boxes, one is under the hood and the other one I assume is under the dash

My suggestion would be to either buy or drop by your local bookstore/library and have a look at Chilton's Auto Repair Manual, or something like that, of the Jeep Cherokee. You will find the diagram there.

Also, I found this page, where you can ask for the 2000 Jeep Cherokee Service Manual by email. I'm not sure if there's much variation between that one and the '96 model, though.

Also, I heard autozone.com has diagrams you can print out for fuse boxes.

This is a diagram circa 1989; a '96 should be the same:

It needs a 5 ampère fuse in the slot marked 9 on this diagram.
