Blind Canadian rock musician Jeff Healey has died in a Toronto hospital aged 41 from a rare form of cancer, his publicist has said.
Healey, famed for playing his electric guitar flat on his lap, died of retinoblastoma which claimed his sight when he was a one-year-old-child.
Very sad to hear this. A fantastic guitarist with a great sound and unique style. His latest album is due out Monday in Canada and later this month in the US and Europe.
A real shame. I know he'd gone quiet on the album front a little with his own club in Canada and learning to play the trumpet! Looks like I'll be listening to his back catalogue tonight.
Gone far too young.

Not only did I see that broadcast when it first aired, I was so impressed with what they had to say about him I recorded it to tape. I still have it.

👍 Who's the band backing him up? I seem to remember them backing SRV. They got the groove!

I was able to see him perform a few years ago at one of the Road Houses he owned in the Toronto area..." Jeff Healey's Road House " he will be missed. Great musician, great spirit.

RIP

I'm sure he's the same guy who was in the Swayze movie Roadhouse also? Not sure though!
Great Talent and way to young to go :(

R.I.P

edit: Just watched the video Pako posted .. playing the guitar like that with blindness! god only knows how he would have played with sight  Awesome raw talent there 👍

Horrible news, another great guitarist taken from us way too early.
RIP Jeff Healey.

A tleast we all know that these two are jamming together right now as we speak!

Not too mention Hendrix is up there Jamming with them too!

That's a clip from a show called Sunday Night. It was a show about music, mostly jazz, hosted by David Sanborn. It went from 1988 to 1990. It then got a name change to Night Music and it was off the air a year later.

Bass Player - Marcus Miller
Drummer - Omar Hakim

Totally missed that show! Marcus Miller? Right on....should have guessed. He did a lot of music with Miles Davis and has done some great solo stuff to. Not to familiar with Omar Hakim, but the two of them sure seem to have the groove!
