JGTC S1 Round 3 Qualif + Results

Oh and btw people don't believe me when I say all could end, I'm just putting some little threats to wake some people up. :D The series won't end (read never!), but your so called granted spot in here could at some time slip away from you. :)

If you grant points for late submissions, It doesn't seem fair to me.
It's not fair with people that submitted in time IMHO

My mate have disappeared :(

Congrats to all the points-scorers and to my teammate for 2nd place  Thanks to viper for being understanding of RL situations, and for extending the deadline this week.

Looking forward to the race 👍

Seriously, he creamed me like I was just a rookie wannabe driver. :guilty: Congrats Rob, you had your time of glory and it's over real soon. :p

Thanks!....but I cant see you in my mirror?:sly:
All I can say is...I learned how to use all of the track on this one...theres a reason why the track is so wide in parts...use all of it! thats all im saying......lol

Good luck to everyone on the race....I will hopefully be able to back up this Qual run for the race, but I will be doing the "Gentlemens agreement" thing,as I am moving this weekend, and can only give it one shot.

@eatsviper4lunch: Ill be sending you my PM later today or this evening.

Yeah, I'd concur for the most part, though there are a couple of places where using all of the track will actually be slower (I'll let you figure out which ones). Just thought I'd throw that in there to confuse the issue :sly: ...though nobody ever listens to the guy who came in second

Wait, you guys are using those run off sections littered all around the track? Seriously? I can defintively see how using these after a couple of key corners could easily make me faster, but I was following the ususal OLR rules.

No,not the run-offs...just a couple of the turns are REALLY wide, and if you take them wider,it doesnt slow you down as much....especially the last turn before the straight.....when I took that one really wide,I was able to gain more momentum down the straight, and not scrub off as much speed trhough the turn. At least for me it worked.

I didnt use any of the runoffs however,...

I know what you mean,my friend...👍 :sly:

:dunce: The parking lot part of the track (runoffs) are not part of the "Racing surface" though using all of the racing area can make you faster in certain area's.

Ran my first attempt last night, tire testing and such, arg, man this is a tough track for racing, found out just how red your tires can get before the car starts to slide around so much that you have to putt around to get back to the pits :yuck: 2+ min. lap :yuck:

I've found with my car that just running the tires to orange can cause huge problems ... no way in hell I could run them to red.

@Rob thanks for the explanation ... you guys had me worried for a moment! :p

I know exactly what you mean,I have the same car,and it gets tough towards the latter part of the track especially on worn tires.

I have to submit my time now,I wont have access to my PS2 till after the deadline probably.I didnt have time to do any tire testing, so that COMPLETELY caught me off guard...the tire wear on this track. It threw my whole strategy out the window, and it screwed my race up.:ouch:

And also, did anyone else notice that it seemed like the AI was easier to pass earlier than before? It seemed like it didnt take as long to pass them all now, than it did when we had it set on difficulty of 8? After I pitted though, I had a harder time catching them again.

Anyways.....good luck to everybody ,Ill catch back up to you all when I can. 👍 (after I limp back to change my tires;) )

Rob, you're exactly right. I just had a GREAT race against the AI, and yet I passed them all on the first lap. Thing was, the Mugen could keep pace with me (ish) and was breathing down my neck all the way. The pitting strategy was key here, without a doubt, and yes I noticed that the AI drove better and faster after my first stop ... my times were consistent, but he put up a much harder struggle for more laps, despite being weak in the beginning.

I've noticed on several occasions that the AI drive some tracks much faster than others. Motegi is one of their better tracks, which would explain AI performance in round 1 compared to recently.

@Koly: I didn't mean the runoffs either, I was referring to the wide parts of the track as Rob23 said. Actually there are many different lines through some areas, particularly the slow final sector, so much room for experimentation and personal style here 👍

Zeratul, I couldn't agree more and - to be honest - I'd love to see some replays from you faster guys simply to give me a broader range of understanding in these areas (esp. the last few corners). Being so far behind Rob, I'm clearly taking a couple of corners completely wrong.

As for Motegi ... I think the +8 skill level there gave the AI different cars and, to an extent, they accelerated much faster and it gave them an advantage on several parts of the track. Here, despite the AI being +10, I'm overtaking one or two of them right from the get go ... they don't have that acceleration advantage ... so aside from the track, I think simply upping their skill level isn't the answer to everything, but the cars they drive at that level.

I'd love to see some of the round 1 AI cars on THIS track; I can't help but feel that their acceleration would make them tough opposition indeed.
