JGTC S2 Round 1 Qualif + Results

ok, houston, we have a problem...

ran my session last night... got a good time, then i asked another driver just to find out that he was 1 second faster than me...

i looked on my replay again, didn´t saw much room for improvment... then i tried his car...

3 laps, and i got a time 0´7 faster than my best in 90 minutes with the skyline....

not funny, shouldn´t the cars be even?

cars in question are:

mazda RX-8 LM
xanavi nismo skyline GT-R

if someone could try, just to see my point, i would be apreciated, but i think something is wrong...

if was just the other driver been faster, that´s ok (btw, he is good) but since i tried both cars, i know something is wrong

:nervous:

yea the RX-8 you can really throw around and it handles like a dream, havn't really tried it against my car but should just to see what is does.

i´ve tried other cars, and...

well, the cars added, are just faster, the other JGTC regulars have their differences, but they can match in some way... but the RX-7, the RX-8 were at least 0´5 second faster than my regular car...

well, no disrespect to the drivers of those cars, casio and VTracing, but i´m not sure if the power figures are gonna stay that way...

just have to wait to see what other drivers think about that...

It's always been like that, round 1 is a general test with the power figures I gave out and round 2 I fix it to the final numbers until the end of the season. Did the same corrections last season with the Motul, Xanavi Nismo, more power to the NSX's etc... lol there's no need to cry about it, if some changes need to take place they will no worries :p

Yeah, the only thing I would add is that tyre wear comes into the equation during the races. I did a 10 lapper last night with my car on hards and was running out of tyres quite quickly.

I would reckon on at least one more pitstop than the regular JGTC field.

The RX-7 and the RX-8 maybe be harder, but they are hard as hell to handle (At least my RX-7 is). So while they might have a faster potential lap time, it is harder to get that time.

From my point of view going past the white lines is ok, going in the yellow lines section is not.

So we can't cross the yellow lines?

Not to start anything, I'm just curious. The AI cars cross them, why can't we?

try my nsx, through the first 3 corners haha, you will fly into the forest =P

no complaints tho, just wish i could raise the ride height up a lil bit

Well I love my Impreza, sticks like glue, my brake pedal is gathering cobwebs :sly:

i'm curious about that one, too. thought all tarmac would be legal...

 youre so right, great car, but u need some balls to take that first shicane full throttle :sly: its like the "au rouge" of trial mountain 👍
the nsx is really an aggresive car, its just real fun. and i like the sound 👍

tarmac is tarmac, painted or not.

if they didn´t wanted to use, they would put a curb and AI would not run into, that´s really crazy, i see the point of OLR, but this is up to the drivers, its not a shortcut, not a curb, just tarmac. the only reason its painted, its because its an lateral extension of the track, therefore its painted... good thing its not banned, because ita really up to the driver...

about the car, good. i didn´t know we could make adjustments, but i´m calm after talking to curtis and i find out that i was not been that slow, it was just a killer RX-8 in my way :dopey:

there´s a gooddiference between the RX-8 and the RX-7, the handling of the first is far superior. i ran with the RX-7, and although it looks fast its not that easy to achieve...

maybe in the weekend i´ll do some more testing, i don´t want to be unfair before i ran 5 or 10 laps with each car of the grid to see how do they stack up, then i can talk about changes... 👍

anyway, good racing to all, and since i didn´t hear from andge, i think it will be "Fandango Racing"

umm... the white lines.. that are near the last few corners... well the last 2 corners + chicane, and that leads thru to the finishing line?? can they be crossed over??? thanks

I'm pretty sure that the white lines are ok to cross Jase.

Fandango Racing is ok with me.

Geez I have to watch this forum more closely. I didnt realise this thread was here untill now, I have not even driven my car once yet.. :(

I'll have the number 13.

Do we have to use the tyres we qualify on to race on?

VTRacing
In the interest of certain legality (and because no-one seems to know what part of the track I'm talking about) I've decided not to bother with my fastest lap, and I'll submit the next fastest.

Is this where you're talking about?

or here?

Also, I ran a 15 lapper today, see where the AI cars are running? I tried to run with them without crossing into the yellow, and I couldn't keep up. Once I crossed over I was able to keep up and eventually catch the AI drivers. Also, with the difficulty set at 10, using my car for this series, these are some of the cars I'm up against.

I picked my car last week without testing any cars, and then when I went to drive this week I realized I didn't even own the car…LOL!!!!

I drove a few laps the first night, really loved the car, and set a goal for the week that I wanted to hit. Well, last night I not only hit my goal but I beat it by .8 seconds. Now I am going to spend the next couple days trying to knock another .2 (possibly .5 if I can get enough time in) off and break this certain second barrier that is my new goal.

Even if I don't hit the goal, I should probably run a few trial runs w/ AI and different tire settings to see how I do. Am I correct in assuming that we run 15 lap races? Or what is the usual race length?

I just ran a 15 lapper for testing. I've never run this series before, but I'm sure the races will be longer than 15 laps.

I'll make a new JGTC rules, settings thread with everything included tomorrow. 👍

Also, I'll get a new email account dedicated only for this JGTC series to which you can send me your replays. :sly:

Umm.. I'm wondering what ever happened to this tread. I think the rules are pretty straight forward, but it would be good to have a referance.

I was wondering what qualifying determines? Seeing as we don't actually race each other, does this just let us know what each other is doing, or is there a point system based on qualifying? Maybe I'll start to understand everything a little bit better once the season starts.

<----wishes we could discuss splits so he knew how well, or poor, he was doing

Came up with a team name "Can-Am Toyo Racers" :sly:

??Confusing, clarification needed. In one post Eats says to just keep 2 tires on the tarmac then in a later post he says that the yellow lines area were off limits. Already have my time for qualifing based on the earlier post, what will the ruling be on this?? Just follow the AI? they are never wrong or out of bounds

I submitted my time before any of this hoo-haa erupted and I can tell you now, I used the yellow stripey area. I don't have the time or inclination to go back again and change my line and cornering tactics. I'll do it for the race if it's necessary, I don't see why it should be though, my lap would have been clean in WRS.

eatsviper4lunch, I think this week the yellow stripe area should be allowed, the AI uses it, and some drivers have already submitted their times using it. From here on out, maybe we should make it clearer what areas we can and cannot use.

I already said this :

eatsviper4lunch
The thing we must understand is that even if I say it's against the rules to go past the white/yellow lines some people without replay proof will still use it, if you fell proud and satisfied of yourself just do it I don't care. The real important thing is 2 wheels on the track at all times, me I don't even use that extra space past those lines anyway. From my point of view going past the white lines is ok, going in the yellow lines section is not.

So it's pretty simple, use all the space you want, me I normally don't use so I don't really need those. The only thing illegal is not having at least 2 wheels on the tarmac / rumble strips.

Thanks alot for the way you sent your replay with all the info needed, that's really how it should be done. 👍

Just updated the first post entrants list with all the info I have, looks like the only team name missing is VTRacing & Teledriel. Let me know if I missed some info. :sly:

well done, I know to me, this seems like a shakey start, but I'm sure it will smooth out ar the series progresses.

eatsviper, I know that a replay is not required to be able to participate, but could you point me in the right direction or recommend some good capture devices? I really want to get one so that I can submit my replays.

Not a problem, thanks for running the series, I'm sure it's a bucket of work 👍

You want a replay device or a capture device to make .avi-.mpeg-.wmv videos?

Are you NTSC or PAL? And is your PS2 chipped or not?

50+ hours week at work + 2 days a week night school + running a GT4 series...yup it's retarded :p  But I'll survive no worries!

I don't know.... which ever one I need to send my replays to you.

NTSC and not chipped.

EDIT: I am not a computer person. I know how to upload pics, and stuff, but not really a computer type of person.
