JGTC S2 Round 3 Race + Results

VTRacing, I dunno what you're complaining about, poor tire wear and all you still took a solid 3rd place!

Yes, I understand that it looks like I'm whingeing for no reason. But this is one of two tracks (High Speed Ring is the other) where I would expect to be close to the front. Particularly considering that I have -2% weight here. Those are the only tracks in the line-up that really suit the RX-8.

I had 4 attempts at this race, my first 3 attempts would have put me about 7th. It was only by driving very nearly my best that I was able to get 3rd.

Yet I find myself still nearly 30 seconds behind hotboi and 25 behind Casio, both of whom are carrying more weight than I am.

This is to take nothing away from either of those drivers. I just did some quick calculations:

I am assuming hOtbOi stopped only twice (say each pit cost 35 sec) and with his fastest lap at 1'33.8, I averaged 34 laps at 1'34.000 to come up with an "optimum" race time of 54'26. Now, including his out of fuel incident that means he must have been lapping very close to that 1'34 every lap.

That's impressive.

So I guess the two pit stop strategy was the way to go this week? I thought my time would be much more respectable than that. I still have no idea how you were able to win that race Casio.

Quick question to all GT500 drivers: How fast were your average lap times? I'd say my average lap was low 1'33. I had about 7 or 8 1'32's and one 1'31.

Yeah, I also had a couple of early runs that would've put me 9th, and my final run was very solid. Note that I pitted 4 times (to your 5 I believe?) and I was basically the same time as you. Also with -2% weight. My argument is that my car is underpowered. Anyway I don't want to take anything away from your complaint, I think it's valid, although your car is faster overall as you stated. I guess the problem is that it's very difficult to balance such a spread of machines.

Although I would recommend to viper that he draft a couple of testers for next season so that he's not the only one balancing the cars...not saying I don't trust you viper, it's just that different driving styles suit different cars, plus there's the DS2 vs. DFP issue. Just a thought.

Quick question to all GT500 drivers: How fast were your average lap times? I'd say my average lap was low 1'33. I had about 7 or 8 1'32's and one 1'31.

Early in the race, after my first stint on RM, my laps were in the low 1'33s. Then, as the fuel burned down I could run consistently in the mid-to-high 1'32s.

So, if you do the numbers, it works out: to win this race with my 4-stop strategy I would have had to have averaged 2 seconds per lap faster than hotboi in between the stops (2 sec/lap x 34 laps = 68 sec. AND 2 x pitstops = ~70 seconds; they cancel out).

Instead, I could only average 1 sec/lap faster, so I ended up roughly 1 pitstop time behind.

Both of us were running RH tyres, but hotboi only had to stop twice.

So you were faster than me even on RH. :odd: I had RM/RS all the way, with 4 pit stops. Man, when's the next JGTC Season? :indiff: :dopey:

I give up....
We are in the presence of the master, nice job hOtbOi. 👍 , and including running out of fuel

my winning time was not the race with the running out of fuel ~ even if i finished that race i woulda came in 2nd
i had to re-do another race right after

my car handle'd like a dream on low fuel ~ the loss of weight made the turns alot more grippy 👍

pitted lap 11, 23 ( around 35 seconds each )
first 16 laps or so were 1'34.6's and some 1'34.3's
as the car got lighter i slowly started pushing harder getting lower 1'34's

:yuck: I think i'm down a bit on horse power. Every race i've been about about a minute behind even if i ran close to a perfect race.

:ill: AW MAN Eddie died. Man what a wrestler too. Saw many a bout and he was fantastic and tenatious as anything could be. :(

WOOOOW that was close Ange :D
Its my first win on this board :)) へもへ
(althought Ange had +4%weight and less power ...:/ but its only to linep cars - ne ?;)
My target was to get under 1h but unfortunately i had 3 laps over 1.43 which costed me about 6sek ? cos all my laps were very close to the best one.
I started with RH/RM pited after laps 9 and 18
From lap 19 i used RH/RS and made last PIT after lap 26 - i thought that it will help but now i know that it was wrong - i should stay with RH/RH and after lap 27 change to RM/RS ... but i won and thats the most important ;)
Grats to all podiu finishers and unbreakable HotBoy ;)
OO and one more think - i didnt refuel at all and before last lap i really was scered that my fueal will be out but fortunately it wasnt :) now i know if it would i would lost... ;)

I can't remember my exact lap times. But every lap, I was aiming for a low 13s T1 (Best I saw was a 13.1) and sub 51 T2 (Saw a 50.6). I think most of my times on fresh tyres were in the mid-low 31s, then towards the end mid 32s.

But if it wasn't for a penalty on lap 4.....

But next week, on HSR, the lower horsepower cars are really going struggle I think.

Wooohooooo!

What a poor result. At least now I'll drop some weight, and since I don't see me being very fast again at HSR, I'll aim for having a light car for Laguna.

Congrats to hOt6o4bOi and villainpl on you wins.

Well, not what I was hoping for but I guess it will do. Next week I'm going to have to try a different strategy, and find out where I'm losing 20-30 seconds each race. Besides my one penalty, which cost me about 8-10 seconds, my race was absolutely perfect. I ran it exactly how I wanted, and was very consistent. :(

Yeah, can I join your 'I give up' club. I tried so hard this week, and I still couldn't win. He rubs it in by having more wieght than most of us as well.

Remember that Simpsons episode, where Homer becomes a stonecutter, but everyone is sick of looking up to him, so they make a 'No Homers' club.....

But seriously, how do you do it H.B? Is there some kind of mediation we should be doing or something?

call me cocky or whatever, but i actually look foward racing with curtis, in fact, its one of the reason´s this series is so fun. i mean, i don´t need to go on with the excuses of "how the car was bad" for this round or any other, but i´m already looking foward to round 5 in laguna seca, when thankfully i´ll have 0% weight i think... maybe i can match up well there... i´m going for the win...

i mean, if i´m not racing for the win, there´s no point on racing i guess... i know he is good, but every round i´ll try to win, no matter if i´m driving a ferrari or a minardi...

well, just my 2 cents guys, don´t take this as cockyness or something like that, just saying that its up to us the the DS2 (or the DFP), so we can always make a challenge...

about this race, i had all my laps in a 1´5 second range, problem was tire wear, i had 4 pits, and raced with RM/RS, to much understear, and a slow pace. sorry andrew, couldn´t do it any better this time, and round 4 will be even worst... hopefully with tracks like laguna seca i can be back into some meaninful races, congrats to curtis for making only 2 pit stops, really don´t know how to save that much tire... congrats also to all podiums and andrew, another great finish besides the weight, great job... now lets hit HSR and see what it brings to us there...

argh damn, had one try where my best lap was 1'31.340, but i ran out of fuel in the last lap and lost about a minute + had 2 penalties (56:2x in the end). no chance to submit before the deadline, because my internet connection broke down :(

i think i could have had podium or at least 4th place with my second try (i would have done one, if i knew i could submit my time), because the AI was no competition and i kinda like the track ;)
