JGTC S2 Round 8 Qualif + Results

Do i really have to tell ya ......well let me just say I have 2 daughters that are several years older than you guys. I am, as you say, mature!! And as astounding as it is, I can still somewhat drive a car in my advanced maturity:)

Perhaps this would have been better in a new thread, but as it is:

I'm 26.
I do a bit of rallying here in Australia (my cars are in the WRS Rides thread).
And when I'm racing GT4 I look something like this:

 
I'm sending my time and my replay will follow later, since I have several replays in that MC and I still have to find out which one is the correct one to send.

With my participation in the GT Challenge and the Portuguese race series, I didn't have much time this week due to work overload.

As for my age, I'm a 38 years old happy Portuguese.

I'm the youngest so far (Finally, I'm winning something), at the ripe age of 17.
 
Damm, all of you guys with your comfy couch, JGTC approved cockpit with a DFP and a racing seat and me I'm here sitting my ass on a wooden floor and with a bs DS2 in hand...:guilty:

Special Stage Route 5...most underrated track ever. :eek: Suprise of this season up to now, by far the most enjoyable qualification session I had the privilege to race in the JGTC series. I had no clue it was going to be so good when I entered SSR5 on the schedule!

I'm 29 and I've been playing GT since GT1, although GT2 was the first one I played for any length of time (didn't have my own PS1, borrowed a friend's for several weeks for GT2). I bought my PS2 for only one reason...to play GT3!

Thank God for qualifying points. That's the only thing that's kept me competitive in this championship.

I was really happy with the line I found around the last corner. There's a huge amount of time to gained or lost just there.

You're a pretty sharp cookie there, EV4L. I was scratching my head at why my T1 time was, well, slow. Thankfully I saved the replay and went back to check and sure enough---wetware problem. T1 should have been 30.380".

Even though it makes no difference in the lap time, I do need to slow down a bit with my tapping fingers when sending in my times.

Obviously no need to update anything, but thanks for raising the issue.

And congratulations to VTR and to Drew on their qualifying runs.

Well, it's fairly simple. Braking earlier is better than braking later. If you can find a way to get all your braking out of the way almost before you turn in, that means you can power into and through the apex and gain a much higher exit speed. With such a long straight here, any gains you make on the exit of the last corner are multiplied all the way down the straight.

But it's easy to brake too much, or have too much speed which requires a lift to avoid hitting the wall on the exit. If you get it right though, you can pick up half a second.

i expected to place bad, but since a lot of cars are heavy, i had a decent lap... just didn´t get a point... so that makes a 8 point difference for VTR:scared:
i wonder how everybody will run in round 10... lots of weight coming in...

You're older than me mate! I don't even have a licence! :lol:

Like Eats, I'm one of these drivers who use an old, busted DS2 sitting on the floor. I just can't justify spending $300AUD on a game controller, especially when my DS2 could die any minute :scared:

Yeah that's exactly how I felt until I actually bought the DFP...never looked back, best money I ever spent!

They're $130 now in the U.S. I've got two but that's only because I've already destroyed one. I'm thinking about getting another for backup.

How right you are, I couldn't imagine using a DS2, been using the DFP for a couple of years, I've destroyed one and have rebuilt my second.
 
Agreed, I enjoy my wheel/pedal combo so much I would give up food to buy another one, if mine broke. For all the time we all spend "driving" the money is nominal when spread over the years.

Of course, I lucked out and got mine second hand from a friend who never used it. It's still technically "borrowed" but I'd buy another one the next day if I had to give it back.

The hardest part is the space requirement. I could never have this whole thing set up at my parent's house but it's one of the best parts of moving out! :)

Heh, try carting it around the world with you :) Mine has now been to Australia and Switzerland with me, and next it'll be going to India. It costs almost as much to ship it as it does to buy one (of course I don't pay for that, so...)
