RULES : Standard online racing rules for clean racing applied when ever possible.

Race :

Minimum of 2 wheels on track
Rumble strips are part of the track
No intentional AI contact
No wall riding
No wall touching
No short cutting
No cheating of any kind

Since this is a semi-enduro format (just under 1h each round) we can’t really ask for 100% error free races. But you must still follow the same basic rules layed down for qualifications and use them when ever possible. Since you are racing with other AI cars little incident may occur and result in an excursion off the track, those are normal racing battles. Passing another car should always be done with caution and fair play just like in real life.

i do like the AI and penalty settings that you have applied for this race EV4L, thank you, a race around here would be unbearable otherwise...

Me likey too! :)

Though slightly shocked at no pen's, but will accept any help getting past the AI on this wonderful but tight track! 👍

Nice!

Neil

I'd just like to lodge a quiet protest of the no penalty race condition. I think it takes away significant challenge.

And, I have a question I'd like a ruling on please:

If I have a race already recorded, with all settings as required but with the penalty set to speed limiter, can I submit that time anyway?

Thanks in advance, Eats.

Glad that I check here every now and then, as I didn't see the no penalty for the race... been using the speed limiter....teaching myself how not to "bang" my way thru this track..... spending time learning the opening....and I'm still running the AI at +10.... figure that I need time building my skills.... who says that EV4L doesn't have a heart ? :sly: LOL

Awesome. I hope the guys are slower at +7 compared to the +9(or was it 10?) that I tried out for the first time last night. With my weight increased and power decrease, getting around the AI with the same weight and 120-200 more hp than me was QUITE a struggle! I was going for the time penalty thing too, but it's definitely all good. 👍

Just ran my first full race, and it looks like it'll be the first hour plus race!

got 10-11 laps out of mediums, and 6-7 laps out of softs.

Hope that I haven't breached the no race time discussion rule?

If I have (don't see how) Let me know and i'll edit!

Neil

I don't know if I like the no penalty rule... I guess it's up to the code of honor ot not prang off of walls and gain advantage then? I disagree that it'd be unbearable though, with penalties.

Also, can we start compiling all replays at one dump site so we can all view everyone's submitted qulay and race files? I'd love to be able to DL at any time to check 'em out, especially how some guys cope with tire wear... Maybe a JGTC Yahoo group or something? Or a JGTC@yahoo.com email addy to send all files to with all sharing the password to log the files?

I DO like the difficulty setting 7-10 though!

We'll see how this pans out...

Agreed. I was fully prepared and looking forward to running this with the time penalty enabled.

Hey Scott - could we use the secondary site for that ? the one that Eats' set up in case this one goes down again. Sounds like a good place to have the vids/replays up.

I hear you on the tire wear thing....Neil's getting that many laps on his set :scared: I've got almost 1/2 a race sitting in the other room... and I'm not getting that :indiff:

I still plan on running with the speed limit on, if for nothing else, to improve my driving ... that's why I run AI at +10, even with the option of running lower. It just takes me a bit longer to find the opening lap dance.

Oooh... Opening lap dance. Does that cost extra? Or is "No Contact" still the rule?

As for files, yes, the other site would be great! As long as we use .max files. The video is TOO BIG for my poor dialup to handle. I really want a mandatory qualy/race database of replays for us to refer to. OTOH, I'm a data fiend so I may be a bit neurotic...

First time JGTC goes Monaco, learning experience, so the rules are what they are. If you feel like using PIT IN/SPEED LIMITER penalty system do yourself and me a favor and go for it, I'll just finish that many positions ahead in the results. lol because my qualif run was made on 10 laps not knowing the track at all before leaving home yesterday, so don't expect me to finish 8th

Your time was just a bit suspicious there, Boss. I was waiting for the explanation. Kinda figured you did like, one lap only or something.

I'm cool with the speed limiter ruling, mostly because I'm have a laziness issue at the moment. But I may give it another shot.

I'm still in shock over actually making it onto the podium in qualifying. So did everybody in GT300 have too much pizza or something?

Well, a lot of people don't like the track, so that might be some of it... But, I feel I spent a LOT of time doing that. Actually, I KNOW I spent a lot of time on my lap. Granted, a few hours before that lap though, I had a faster one by over a tenth, but I nicked a wall for a speed drop. Then it took me a decent while for things to click about how I was supposed to be driving, instead of just going out and about hoping for a randomly quick and clean lap.

Anywho, about the whole penalty thing, this makes it hard in my mind, because I don't know what's considered legal or not. There were definitely times where I fought for the same space with the AI, but I never thought the time penalty was too harsh. You can get by enough without it making you slow down. The only time I see the time penalty coming into play is when you do something that would MOST CERTAINLY get you into the pit lane with the forced pit entry thing. Then, there's the problem of the AI coming up behind you and smacking you in the butt, but still. I think it'd definitely be doable to avoid ANY penalties in the race. Sure there will be more contacts than normal, wall and AI probably, but any time the penalty will come into play, it is very well deserved. Leaving this out gives the possibility of who knows what, and that makes it hard to determine in my mind if something that happens in a race, is legit or not. One person's idea of what may be ok, might not be ok with me, and so on.

Just my opinion, and I'm not asking for anything to change for now, just giving my feedback. 👍

Nuvo, feel free to send me a PM. ;)

It's no biggie, other people voiced their opinions, I like to talk, so I voiced mine as well.

Continue on... :)

Okay, I was of the belief that we should keep the penalties, but I just tried doing a stint on RM/RH on the DS2 and I couldn't even keep the car pointed in the right direction let alone go fast.

Zeratul, I TOTALLY understand why you had such an "abortion" of a qualifying session! IMPOSSIBLE!!!!

Hat's off to those who can negotiate these streets with the Dual Shock... :Bows Down:

SHig: "You can have my DFP when you pry them out of my cold, dead hands (and feet)!"

I'll stipulate that it's probably a hardware, marriage, fist, and furniture conservation countermeasure to defeat penalties this week.

Later!

i feel better now knowing that the DS sucks for this kind of race... maybe that´s one of the reasons that i was so far behind in qualy...

That's great!Lot of people thinks that turning on one of the penalties for the clean race!Respect. That's how things goes on the right way.
I always use this penalty for my own fun.The only excitment in this race to overtake the others when no place for it.Real driving simulator.:dopey:

Keep telling yourself that! :) It's not the DS that sucks, it is _I_ that suck when I fumble around with the DS. I NEVER drive DS2 for any comps except for rallys, and as I recall Zeratul is pretty much DFP except when his wheel is being shipped, so we're somewhat crippled 'cuz we've lost our "touch" with the paddle (remember when that's what they were called?).

For me, the hard part was throttle modulation on the hard tires that killed me. Francisco, you two stick it (I use the buttons) so it's easier for you to modulate the gas so no excuses!! YOU SUCK! Hahahh... (jokes, man, you know it's all good!).

Anyway, fun event, looking forward to GV, and CAN'T WAIT for Infineon!!!

I'm with you there buddy!

It's my DFP, and i'll kill anyone who tries to take it from me!

Now, I couldn't use a DS2 pad to save my life, it sits on the desk gathering dust, and is only used for photo-mode and Maxdrive.

As for the pen's situation. I have a banker race done, that will be improved upon, but it is completely clean!
Don't ask me how I did it, divine intervention maybe, but it's clean.
And I'm running with speed pen's on also, just to keep myself honest!👍

I love this track, always have. It's historic, it's beautiful, and I raced it in NFS Porche 2000 ('unleashed' for the americans) over and over and over again. So I know it like the back of my hand.

Neil

hmmm.... let me see those hands Neil.... LOL
while I do love the track, I'm not that good at it...see my qual time :(
I agree about the history and the scenery...where are the rich babes ?
at least this week I don't have to worry about disappointing a partner :(
i'll be in the back of the pack this week

i really want to download this week´s qualy video, because i´m kind of slow right now... i have to figure out how to be 1´5 faster:crazy: well, part of the problem is the lack of mileage in this track. a great one, but not a lot of action in GT with monaco... hopefully the race will be better:tup:

Is anyone besides me finding that the +7 difficulty cars are worse than the +10 difficulty cars?

At least the +10 difficulty cars spread out enough that they can be overtaken one at a time, more or less.

I've only used the +10 cars, 4 of which can be overtaken on lap 1, then the #5 car in lap 2. Don't see them again until I lap them. Last night I did a run and was fortunate to lap 3 of the 5 while they were in the pits. I'm running with forced entry and have not had any penalties....yet.

Hmmm!

Must try that, been running with them at +7.

Pretty much the same on the first and second laps. But, and this is unfortunately a big but, when I had to lap two cars I was staying clean and it took almost a lap to find a way around. That alone may cause me to give it another try.
