JGTC S3 Teams & Car Draft

All right, considering threats of violence and whatnot seemed to work for others...I would very much appreciate it if nobody takes the Nissan Xanavi Hiroto GT-R. After miles of testing and retesting, having my first 2 picks taken by others, and generally running out of any time to run further testing, I'll not murder you if you take it, but I'll be terribly dissappointed in you

So please please please leave this car for me!

Just out of curiosity, what were your first two preferences?
The Mazda RX-8 Concept LM Race Car and the Toyota au Cerumo Supra (well it was still a bit touch and go between the Supra and the Nissan when somebody picked the Supra, but anyway :) ).

If you don't have a car number, no team information or no car at all then you won't be in the entrants for R1 Qualif. It's time to wake up now, still not too late. I have 8 teams and 8 part-timers registered here. R1 going up today at 9:00PM EST

Yipe!! I better get going

I selected Fairlady concept LM race car #75. If this selection is not possible
in pal version, then second selection is Nissan Pennzoil Zexel GT-R '01

Finally, I found the list of tracks for S2. Apparently some of the little grey cells have come back.

Would you be willing to indicate, perhaps, which of the fourteen tracks listed didn't make the cut?

And like a dummy, I've been practicing at the Autumn Ring and it's not even on the list. Hmmm.........

The track list will be up with the Race 1 Qual Thread, according to my Secret Services Intelligence Office.

Thank god, I hate that track ! Is it 9:00 yet ?

Iceman, since you and I have become such good friends during our battle over at der Nordschleife, at 8:04 EST I will grant you the hot tip on how to beat my 55' 29" race time easy with that little Soobarrooo.

That is, unless you have already figured out what said hot tip is.

Of course, I think our colleague BTTW is calling it quits at 9:00 EST USA time, so you might have enough time if you keep the oil warm.

You did an awesome job there !
I pretty much tried everything last night to get even close. Also checked out your ride. I believe it's the weight (100Kg) I have to carry what will result in very hard breaking and tire wear. My best time is still on 2 stops. Was running 4 and came close to my best time. The Subby comes to life around lap #6 but it's not enough to challenge your time !

Curtis, with some cars it is the only option.

I know from last season I ran Hards on the front 9 races out of 10, yet still I was usually required to make 1 more stop than most people and 2 more than you. Most times I would finish a stint with dark orange or red front tyres.

With SuperHard tyres banned, and tyre wear set to strong, it would appear that people are encouraged to make more pitstops rather than fewer, wouldn't you think? That's how this series is designed.

That's fine, it's your prerogative to decide how many stops you want to make, and if you feel that it's more realistic or more fun to run longer stints then good for you. I happen to feel the same way.

But everyone is entitled to their own choice regarding pit strategy. Folks who don't have your skill and consistency behind the wheel (like me) may feel happier running on softer tyres that make the car easier to control, or will have greater tyre wear because they're not as smooth, and will therefore make more pitstops than you.

I don't think that deserves the term "gayass strategy".

Woohoo, I got my car  Now I just hope it's up to the challenge. Bring on Round 1!

Gentlemen, start yer engines!

Haha

hOt4bOyZ vs holl01
Round 1:

holl01 DQ'ed! hOt winz!

But seriously.... I'm surprised no one picked the BMW or C5R. Is there something really wrong with those cars? If I was GT500, I think I would've picked one of those just out of curiosity.

The BMW's power needs a boost, awesome handling (though the typical BMW "disconnected" feeling in the steering) but almost a second off the pace in my testing. The C5R also has very good handling, but with the power restricted so much it lacked torque out of the curves and was thus a bit too slow.

Besides, this is the Japanese Grand Touring Championship...neither of those are JGTC cars, they aren't even Japanese :)

both CARS raced in the JGTC in the past. not those versions, but they raced there.

about hot and holl, i heard that holl was without his PC for some time... that should explain the missing in the entry list

first comments about the car test i guess... diferent driving styles i see... trust me, i was able to record very similar times with those 2 compared to the JGTC cars... i just think their handling is different...

Really? Hmm...all at the same track, or did you run comparisons at different tracks?
