JGTC S4 Round 1 Qualif + Results

First - 👍 to Eats for being the twisted little puppy that he is
Those of us from last season have come to learn the truely twisted mind that is Eat's 👍 As Andy and Neil have mentioned, this is not your "normal" JGTC qual. More like a "frog in a blender" qual.

If the Ford GT spec II I'm driving in GTPLMS is a "Squirrel", then this beast I'm in is a "mother-in-law" :ouch: you know... one really pushy broad :censored:At least Eats gave us no tyre wear  at the rate I'm trying to get this beast to turn I figure I'd get maybe 3 laps out of a set of RM's

I've only had a chance to put in a few laps and began to try and learn the opening laps. The learning curve on this car is going to take some seat time. Something the Drewpy Balls team doesn't have to worry about :irked:

I don't even want to think about what my fastest lap so far is, because it isn't ! LOL .... at least I've a few days to get more seat time 👍

I've run this 5 or 6 times trying differnt AI fields, finally found one that keeps me away from them after the hairpin in lap 1. My fastest lap occured in a run that's not my best, therefor not submittable; 1'14.432. That Mac you really gotta watch (but only in some lineups) he'll sneak up on ya about lap 5 or 6 and make the rest of your run misserable. He loves to push you off the black stuff, I mean he goes out of his way to hit ya. I really think Neil is driving it!!! Get out of my PS2 Balls!!!

Hey Balls, I knocked 4 seconds off my first attempt. Aside from lap 1 all my laps were within .700 of each other, and had it not been for the Mac they'd be within .450. He never got in front of me but I could see him on my arse the last 2 laps, got nervous and screwed up. I don't do well under pressure:)

Damn. You must be cruisin! I might get around to trying some more tonight...

how do you get different line ups ?
if the AI is set at 10 and on RS's ?
I'm still 3 seconds a lap behind for fast lap ! never mind the rest :ouch:

how do you get different line ups ?

To get different A.I line-ups you have to exit out of the race (eg. back to the track selection screen) and then start the race again.

Man I know what your saying! After a solid two hours of seat time I've really started to get used to this car and I've gotten in some decent time at the track now as well.

That damn MAC though! I ran the best first 7 laps that I could with a 1'14.699 as my top lap and then on lap 8 the Mac slams me in turn 1! I got back by him but with him pushing me through some turns I made a mistake and he took the lead back on the straight. Then going into the 2nd turn he tanks it and juts off the track only to swing a 90 degree turn into the middle of the track taking up 3/4 of the track... causing me to slam on the brakes to avoid him. The last two laps were still within 1 1/2 seconds of the best but I never could get back around the mac so I finished second.

The other team car isn't doing quite as hot but once he gets some more seat time I think we'll be alright.

I had my first decent session earlier on today, I'm still miles off the pace. Currently my fast lap is a 1'15.7XX. I'm not sure if its the car or my lacking skills that are preventing me from even getting close to other times mentioned...most probably my lacking skills lol. Anyways I'll keep trying.

I doubt it your skills mullen, being fairly new here nobody knows what your skill level is, but since I've raced with you at "the other place" I do and I know you're an excellent driver so it must be your ride. At least that's the excuse I'd use :) I'm glad you came over here to GTP, wish I could get 3 or 4 other guys from the old haunt to come over, like Beefer, CR, Skillage and Nut, but I think they're a bit afraid of the level of competition here. I know I was when I first came here, but I came over with Taz who has since dissapeared from both sites. He was in season one, started season 2 then dropped out. I don't think he was used to losing, but drive here long enough and losing gets very comfortable:)

I've got about as good as I'm gonna get on this one, gonna send my times in today. Lap times are very consistant, lost about .500 each on laps 8 and 9 cause the Mac was on my arse and I kept looking in my rearview...rookie mistake!!!

Lot of quiet teams I wonder if thats a good thing or a bad thing? I finally got a consistent run where the Mac didn't catch me with a few laps to go. Fast lap of 14.378 but I cut 9 seconds off my original race time. Had another with a much faster lap but the mac beat me again and the overall race was 3 seconds slower then this past one.

He got up right behind me and as soon as I saw him I dipped it in the grass 3 times! Seems like your not the only rookie here Drew!

I'm with Mullen .. due to duties with the GTPLMS .. ive had very little time at Apricot .. maybe a total of 35 laps here only .

Sending my times today .. this isnt one of Dels favoured tracks , so i expect to finish at the back of the pack .. my best lap is in the low 1.15's .. i guess i could get into the 14's , but a 1.14.1xx is in another class . 👍

I can't manage much better than a 1'15.5, i need more practice in my car i think.

I had a quick run in the Woodone Supra (just for testing purposes) and instantly noticed I was able to run faster laps, even with very little prior experience with it. Oh well, I'll try and get a few more runs in tonight.

Times submitted, doubt I'll have the fastest lap, but I think my race may be podium material...possibly.....maybe...a slight chance maybe!!!

And Season 3 is off and running. Here's to a great season to everyone, lets all stick it out till the end.

Honda Takata takes more time to master than the other cars in the lineup, just a fact. :)
Yeah... Stupid me stupid me for even STARTING to think otherwise. :dunce: The excitement of starting a new season and my impatience got to me I assume. I hope to get some good time in today after I go for a motorcycle ride. 👍

Times sent in.

I'm not very convident with my time, only had about two sessions racing this qualifying round. I'm still way off the pace regarding fast laps, I saw a couple of 1'15.3's but i could never stay consistant with those times. Anyways, looking forward to seeing the other times...good luck all.

Times sent to Eats.

Know I have been beaten by Andy, but that's ok by me. He IS my team-mate after all! :)

Neil

Don't forget.

+10 secs penalty on race time for missed qualification for everyone

10 secs is alot of time, you can loose couple positions right there.

I'm passing all of them by the hairpin at the bottom of the hill (turn 9)on the first lap,but the Mac will sneak up on you, he gets faster with each lap.

Hey Andy!

Stop picking on J.R. it's just not right, to mock the afflicted! :D

Neil

The cars are obviously not well matched for qualifying sessions like this... I imagine some may be able to just about hold the same lines the AI are taking, while others, like myself, have no chance what so ever at taking the same lines at anything near the same pace. The only time we have some sort of advantage is when they do their slowing down mid turn.

The way the AI drive along with how much more grip they have up front than I really turn me off to this. NSX takes more time to master? Sure, but even then it's not as fast. In qualifying. In the actual races it's tire wear may even out the differences, but in qualifying, not a chance. Still working on it, didn't get to play yesterday, will submit something measly in the next hour or two. *sigh*

Times sent.

Confident I'm way behind mullen. :dopey: Well, we'll see how our time's compare when the results get posted.

And I guess it will take time to master the NSX with all the driving aids turned off.:scared:

Ok, so I had another post written up after I finished my last RACE. And I REALLY freaking wish it had posted it rather than my internet taking a crap and now my browser so I can't even access it.

Basically I just explained my last race, which went oddly well for the most part, and then expressed the fact that next season will require some changes. This two race per round thing has to go, and the NSX will require further changes if it's to be worth using at all.

Sent in my times to Viper along with my teammates... but I can't get my ar max to work I got another pen drive to try it keeps saying that I don't have enough memory on my pen drive lol...

Wow thats one hell of a job you must have been ripping up on that first lap... I sometimes would have the lead on the first lap but most definitely on the 2nd lap.

 I had a bit of time after we played a round of golf today and I don't know if I was trying to make up for a poor round or I had just the right amount of alcohol in me but I record 2 races faster then my previous attempts and I ripped off 3-4 laps in the 13's!!! Sadly though only one of them was in the race I turned in but it did happen to be the fastest one I have run. 1'13.598!!!

That ****ing mac can't touch that!
