Hahaha, OUCH.

I feel sorry for the people who have even more of a HP disadvantage here, just against the faster cars I mean, not even just the people who have their HP dropped from being fast... Definitely a "fun" case of less grip/hp vs less brains, this round.

Ouch, this is gonna be a trial by fire. We've never run this round in JGTC and personally I haven't raced here for quite some time. All part of Eats' clever strategy I'm sure ;)

I did a couple of quick sighting runs last night. Laptimes were dropping off consistently as I played with various lines, so there's a lot of work to be done this week...why do I get the feeling you've been practicing for this finale showdown Eats? :nervous: :sly:

Well it's official, I SUCK the big one at this track! :grumpy:

Can't even get out of 6th place at the moment, lap times over 1'30.xxx nearer 1'32's.
When I used to run in the WRS almost every week, rallies and this track were the only ones I didn't race. I hate this track that much!

This is gonna be a week that I am relying on Andy's city-course skills to get us some points!

Sorry buddy!

Man, It's gonna take more then skill on this course, it's soo darn fast, big HP and little weight are gonna have the advantage. Got up to third place ONCE but spun out soon after. I'm beginning to see why Eats picked this course, it will make for an interesting end to the series.... Quite sadistic of you Eats!!!

Managed to do a race, with no mistakes, no wall touches.

Followed the Panoz around for the first 5 laps until I just couldn't hang in the slipstream anymore.
Managed to do a 1'29.8xx fastest lap on lap 3 with the whole lap in the draft.

Finished in 4th, 11.5 seconds down on first place.

Think this is going to be the fastest I can manage, but will keep trying for the rest of the day, then send in my time.
I know it's early, but I can't honestly say that I am confident about improving.

At least I won't get the dreaded 10 second pen for no quali time!:)

Neil

:banghead: :banghead: 🤬 are my thoughts about this round !
Not the rythum tracks that I like, that's for sure !

Tried to get around this track last night. All you could hear was "Are you 🤬 kidding me ? !!!"

With that said :grumpy: the point race is too close and I've got to find a way to get around this round. Seeing that Andy is a city specialist :scared: this is going to be one melee for the last round.

Time Sent.
Won't have time later this week, but I <3 NY!. After you get your braking points, forget about it!

OK OK, no more bad puns. but I was wary trying this track and AI combo after seeing some of the comments, but diving into the Hairpin, and flying through the short-technical 180, you can make up TONS of time. I ended up 2nd place, ~3s behind that bloody McLaren. My best lap was (a hugely draft-assisted) 1.28.3xx! standard was low-low 1.29s. I'm happy with it and it's back to LMS Testing. I can't WAIT to come here in LMS.

Good luck all and see you in the races.

well, second attempt at learning this track.
Got into first place on the second lap.
Ran a 1:30.xxx - no draft
some time still out there

I was channel surfing last night and discovered my pay TV provider has myteriously unlocked several channels that were previously unavailable to me. One of them is Motors TV (24 hour motorsports :D ).

Flicking to this channel last night I found the Suzuka round of the SuperGT (formerly known as the JGTC). Coverage was a bit low-budget but it was pretty cool to see the real series, along with some of our cars (RE Amemiya, the Xanavi Z I posted a pic of, etc.).

Any of your folks get SuperGT where you live?

Yup!
Motors TV is a free-view channel on Sky in the UK.

Mainly European presenters, and sometimes the commentary is a little dodgy, but it covers pretty much every kind of motorsport including SuperGT, World Superbikes, Rallies, AMA Supers, ice racing, truck racing, karting, speed boats, even lawn-mower racing. Basically, if it has an engine, and can be raced, they cover it!

I watch it sometimes if I miss a round of the bikes for some reason, or if I can't sleep at night. It's a good channel!

Neil

EDIT

Time sent to Eats!
Thankfully, there isn't a problem with the race here. Proof that not only Hp matters round this track is that if the AI are on RM's the same as us, they are easily beaten.

Sounds pretty sweet to me!

I WANT THAT HERE! Were I am in the States, I don't get SuperGT coverage at all, and I have to wait until winter to see chopped up coverage of BTCC. Roadracing here is about 5th on the list behind NASCAR, NASCAR, F1, and NASCAR (no, that's not a typo.) It's sad really.

Who was I trying to kid?

The AI are a complete PITA on the race situation.

I have done some tyre testing, with normal race settings, and the number of times I have been pushed into a wall.............I'm getting concussion!
Usually by a BMW Mac or a Nissan Z concept!

@Eats, mate!:bowdown:
Please can you suspend penalties for next weeks race?

We are all capable of being trusted not to abuse the leaniency, and it may stop some of us having to submit race times tainted by 'forced' pit stops or 'speed-limiter' pens that we didn't deserve.

Neil

Good luck with that request Neil :) Finally had a pretty good run, came in second (barely) but spent most my laps drafting the Zonda with the BMW on my arse , managed a 1'29.044, that was of course drafting every straight. Gonna go run a few more times tonight cause I won't have time the rest of the weekend. Good Luck ladies and gentelmen.

Just watched the Super GT first round @ Suzuka!

Was won by a Lexus!

Karting on now, but gonna re-run quali and if it's significantly faster than my previous run, i'll re-submit!

Neil, I must say I haven't had any trouble with the AI here (aside from the usual stupid AI driving). It takes a lap and a bit to overtake the field, since there aren't many overtaking opportunities here, but they seem to behave fairly well when it comes to ramming me into walls...

It tended to happen after a pit-stop, and to be honest I have worked out the passing places and where to just let them through so I can draft past at the right point again.
Also, having done some pit-strategy testing, the problem has more or less resolved itself.
Though it still might be an idea?

As to re-running the quali race again. I tried all afternoon, and couldn't get an error free run in.
Although I was faster, and the lap times were better,I just couldn't string 8 faster laps together.

Ah well!

At least I have two full races already done, with two different lap counts. So we'll see which one is right then try to beat it.

Neil

Uhm... I'm stuck at my parent's house for easter and I haven't submitted my time yet... I have one from running it earlier this week, and haven't had a chance to play since then, been super busy. I won't be back at my house until later tonight as well, AFTER the deadline...

So, either I won't be submitting a time this week(completely ruining any chance of decent points next week, if I have one), or I'll be submitting one late and hoping it'll be counted. :indiff:

Time submitted.

I think I managed a fairly solid run this week. My only problem is that my approach to qualy was so aggressive through turns 6-9 (the complex) that if I apply the same driving style on race day I'll have no tires left after 2 laps

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, oh well, times submitted, have no idea how I fared but we'll all know soon.

well, times submitted

I worked my butt off this week on the qual - trying to break through the barrier - and I don't think it's going to be good enough :( my usual qualifying .... sigh.

Got a fast lap of 1:28's

and I agree on the way I went at the qual vs. what I'm going to have to do with the race. Neil's already got two in the bank ? :scared: I haven't even gotten to testing the tires yet :nervous:

Oh yeah? Which barrier's that then J.R? The one at the end of the SF straight, or the one at the 1st right? (That's the corner I kept messing up today!:banghead: Just kept on missing my braking point:guilty: )

Nice fastest lap though!

And, yup got two in the bank, one of 20-something laps, and one of 20-something+1 laps. I got bored! :boggled:

Neil

...maybe that's why I can't get a podium... :)
Naaaah, that's my way of doing things and I've been up there a time or two... 👍

Should be back at my house in about an hour and I'll submit, probably not going to be counted, but hey!

Awesomeness. No need to submit now... :indiff:

12'01.757, 1'28.588

I don't think I'm going to do the actual race. Not in the mood.

Have fun duking it out guys, and enjoy the next season which I'm positive will be more fun for everyone after the stuff we've made aware this season. I'm not going to be spending the time playing GT4 that I need to to play like I want to, so why bother at all.

Thanks for getting something great started though eats.
