RULES : Standard online racing rules for clean racing applied when ever possible.

Race :

Minimum of 2 wheels on track
Rumble strips are part of the track
No intentional AI contact
No wall riding
No wall touching
No short cutting
No cheating of any kind

Since this is a semi-enduro format (between 40-45 mins) we can’t really ask for 100% error free races. But you must still follow the same basic rules layed down for qualifications and use them when ever possible. Since you are racing with other AI cars little incident may occur and result in an excursion off the track, those are normal racing battles. Passing another car should always be done with caution and fair play just like in real life.

AIR RESTRICTOR

The winning driver will have a -1% hp air restrictor penalty in place for the next round. This penalty will be in effect for the next 3 races and then dropped after that determined period of time. Exp : A driver winning R3 will get -1% hp for rounds 4-5-6 and on R7 he'll see his power come back to normal. A driver winning again in that 3 races penalty period will gain another -1% hp but the 3 races period won't be resetted like in the past to 3. The longest a penalty (-1%) will hit will be 3 races.

Deadline Dec 31, be smart and submit before.

Very tricky track, Forced Pit Entry penalties so be smart. If it's hard for you then it's hard for all the rest of us. Error free performances should score big points here.

Steady & on the track > Fast & in the walls

:sly:

Steady & on the track > Fast & in the walls
The weight reduction should help a good bit with front end grip... Hopefully I can still manage something decent with my fast and close to the walls with many pits...

Yes, you should have a good car this round. 1099lbs that's starting to be a lightweight for a Takata! :sly: Control will be the key for SSR5.

I had time to race today, maybe the last chance in this year,so I did it.
The race was great, today I had the feeling of SSR5 in my hands,so it was flawless. No penalties (but there was a half lap long fight with the goddamn Ford GT) and hopefully fast...with these P/W settings. :odd:

SSR5 is one of my all time favorite courses, I love driving this in any car, but especially JGTC class cars. I usually do fairly good here!!!

Merry Christmas!!! I got a flashlight and a candy bar...really!! Told my wife and kids not to get me anything cause I felt a bit guilty buying the '34 Chevy two weeks ago.

Ran a banker race today between family things. Felt OK, but not great. I still hate this course, but I think that we've got an understanding. No penalties (miraculously considering the AI shoving me into walls), some pretty exciting battles with the McLaren and the Viper, and a couple death-defying passes on lapped traffic goes for a pretty fun replay to watch.

Ended up with a best lap of 1:17.xxx, but that was a very inspired lap, otherwise roughly 1:19s. Not too happy with the overall race, but it's a banker and i've got one in.

Question: What tyre strategies are you all using? I ended up with a 3-stop strategy on RM/RM every 8 laps. It's not that great, but first try.

I'll probably go the same route as you Chris, RH's don't make mathematical sense once again. I don't think RS's are the answer either unless you end up with a short stint. I don't know yet if I can coax 8 laps out of mediums, Neil will probably get 12 -15 laps on RM's, guess that's why he's "The Tire King" or "Tyre" for you English folks.

Feeling a little abashed
Just ran a banker race, 2 stopper on RM's

Fast lap in the low 1:17's
Most laps within a few .1's of each other, until the end of the stint :nervous:
Pretty solid run, with a little room for improvement. Consitant with what Chris is running.
Off to try and see how other strat's might work.

Just not feeling confident with my time, thinking I need to be about 2 min. quicker than I am now.

Naw, your times are fine JR....trust me!!!

Ran some quite low 1'16's, the little extra weight actually seems to balance the car out a bit better then it was, and it was quite good already. C'mon eats..lets see your stuff. I'm gonna go find our last race at SSR5 and see how we fared, I'll post my findings, but I think you won it eats.

EDIT: Wrong, you just said you were gonna win! Last Season Round 6, 42 laps at SSR5
1st. Drew22
2nd. GTX
3rd. Neil
4th. Eats

Yeah I think I only putted statements 2 times in the past that I was going to win. I'll try to find those 2 rounds. :)

I can remember at least one race last season where you promised and delivered a win. You get me nervous when you promise a win...but I guess that's the point ay?

Hopefully a RS-RM tire setup will make my Takata as nimble as a ninja! ;) I just hope I can find a gear setting that can make the car as quick as one. Not to mention a good racing line.

Gotta remembe to do the correct number of laps as well...:dopey: :dunce:

Wish I could get a 2 stopper on RM's! I gotta do 3! You been taking lessons from "Tire King Neil" ?

Yes,maybe J.R. learned the lesson well.
Two stopper on RM's,I can't believe that. You guys don't know the brekas or what?I have a bad habit:if one of the other cars appears just ahead of me,I want take him down as soon as possible, then I need to push harder and sometimes this few seconds of macho driving style does not pay off at the end...
You guys with two stoppers, may I ask what is your average lap time?
Time sent to eats!

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I called the folks I ordered my DFP from yesterday, since it hasn't arrived yet. Here's a summary of the conversation:

CSR: Guten morgen.
Me: Hi, do you speak English?
CSR: Little.
Me: (oh boy) I'd like to find out the status of order number blah.
CSR: Okay. (silence)
Me: Hello?
CSR: (silence)
Me: Hello?
CSR: Ja, it goes next Thursday.
Me: You mean it ships next Thursday? Why?
CSR: Uh...we have no...things.
Me: You mean you don't have stock?
CSR: Ja.
Me: Your site said you had stock of both items when I ordered. (I'm also waiting for my wireless router)
CSR: Ja.
Me: (sigh) Danke.

So...still stuck with the DS2 for this week's race. Assuming this CSR (we'll call her the "Fountain of Information" :sly: ) was right, I should have it in time for next round qualy.

I put a run in last night, appalling to say the least. 3 penalties all caused by AI drivers taking VERY strange braking points as they do at this track. Also, it's very difficult to save the tires with the DS2 for me here, so I only managed 7 laps out of RMs, equalling a 4 stop strategy :ouch:

well, still tossed up, as the times are close to one another
a two stopper on RM's
or a 3 stopper on RS's

LOL you guys!

A 2 stopper is an option for me too, but I am sort of leaning towards 3 stops myself.
Will be experimenting tomoz, doing the maths, and setting my time.
Tho, I still have my air-restrictor pen till next race and still have +4 weight (now you guys who should have been slowly dissolved in acid, know why it should have been you!:trouble: )
So I'm not too optimistic about what that time will be like in comparison to everyone else's, but I'm still game!

Laters

I do have a nice Hotlap in thr low 1'16's, but it's a 3 stopper for me, even at 8 laps I'm totally red. I love this course and usually do well here but I eat them tires!

For me, the run I just put in a three-stopper run that had only one penalty. For me, the RM-RM combo went 9 laps before the rears turned red and I had to change tires. I got plenty of time this weekend to get a penalty-free run to submit.

And I'll agree with your asessment about the AI drivers having odd braking points. Sometimes when you're making that dive into the tunnel after Start/Finish, they'll rear-end you really hard and send you straight into the tunnel wall! :grumpy:

Time Submitted.
WOW. went back after 4 days off, and knocked 45 seconds off my previous time with an entirely different pit strategy. Lets just say the Tire King would look down on me in disgust.

Went RM/RS for the first 3 stints, and burned the tires clean off the car in 7 laps, then did the last 10 laps on RH/RM. It worked. Set a blistering fast lap too (compared to my old one). I'm very happy with it, we'll have to see the results. Good luck all.

Sorry EATS .. my time for GT4 is strictly limited for the last 2 and next 2 weeks .. though i will be back to race the remeing rounds { if i havent been expunged }

You are right!

You should be ashamed of yourself

I am doing 9+8+8+6!
Got a fast lap of 1'15.xxx

Gonna finalise in the morning!

Neil

You dog you Neil!!! Now I gotta go run 31 laps again being that my fast lap was 1'16.002, I'm pitting 8,16,24 on RM/RM's.

Race done!
Times off to Eats ASAP!

Pits @ L9/L17/L25
Fastest lap 1'15.8xx!

Very happy with it, though I might be shooting myself in the foot a bit (no weight loss)

But on the bright side I do get my power back for the next race!

Happy New Year everyone!
Off to start celebrating my birthday in a couple of hours. Thankfully it's a party at my pool-team captain's house, so now problems with the rowdy element in town!

Neil

Time submitted. I managed a penalty-free race until lap 31 so I ended the race in the pit lane :irked:

Front tires just disintegrated for me here with the DS2. No subtlety of cornering does that I suppose ;)

Good luck all, and Happy New Year

time sent
not overly happy
had to give up the two stopper for the three with a heavy foot
and still not fast enough I'm sure :(

Times in, almost forgot, been trying to get a wireless connection to the PS3 so I can go get the GTHD Demo from PS Store.

Times in to Eats. Ran a three stopper with one penalty as well, but my fast lap was in the 19's so I'm not looking forward to a high placing in the standings.:indiff: Ah well...
