Can somebody take my Subaru around there and see if it can run these times? I'm sure I'm leaving a little on the track especially since I'm still using the Ds3, but 7 to 12 seconds sounds crazy! (Lol)

My goal is just to run sub 7:00 mins both 6 Lap stints which I'm still off by 2 laps.

rosckolove runs the standard Subbie. He posted either a 36 or 37.

I gained lots of time on my runs by running flat out in a few sections. Places where you normally lift off for a second, go flat out.

Good suspension should also take off a good second - two.

I doubt you'll be doing those times in a race consistently. You'll get one lap like that (maybe) then you'll drop 10-20 seconds the next 3 laps, and your tires will be shot. So go ahead and try that strategy and pit every 4 laps and I'll run my times and pit every 6.

1) I said fresh tires (Laps 1-2)

2) Why would I lose 10-20 seconds? At the end of a stint perhaps (Lap 6+)

3) Why am I pitting every 4 laps again?

Being fast = / = extreme tire wear.

36's and 40's seem really quick. I'm pushing pretty hard for mid 50's.
I'll be around pretty much all day if anyone wants to get together for a group practice. Send me a PM

still running 6:41 on the 4th lap, 6:44 (i think) on the 5th lap going flat out the whole time, no track cutting at all, 2 wheels on the black surface at all times. I'm barely even hitting the grass the whole lap. I had more then a few minutes of practice for this, so i will not be running out of fuel again hahaha. That was super ridiculous, A lot of fun though.

Are we doing 12 laps or what? it would be nice to figure out how long i have to hold these tires together for.

Because you'll be racing, not setting qualifying laps. So all the fast lap times won't do anything for you when someone is right with you trying to pass. You may be able to run those lap times by yourself, but when someone is challenging you and runs with you, or beside you, it's a different story. Why are you arguing with me anyway? I could care less about how fast you go on the 'Ring. I know the tires in the game and how fast they'll fade. Hot lapping isn't racing. 👍

Your argument doesn't make sense to me. Thanks for letting me know I won't be hot-lapping but instead racing. I've totally never done the whole racing thing before  . If someone is right by me, wouldn't my lap times be faster due to slipstream? Also, how would they get next to me in the first place if I'm faster? Why am I arguing - Because you make ridiculous statements, no offense.

Can we not argue before the race has even begun lol?

Anyone want to schedule a qualifying slot yet?

Yeah I qualify tuesday, and to answer someones qusetion yes the race will be 12 laps total.

alright so i just need to pace myself to get 1 more lap a stint, not that bad. I doubt i can make the series.

My argument? I never started an argument. The 'Ring isn't a very wide track and there's hardly room for two cars side by side. You only have a few chances at drafting there as well. I've been in plenty of 'Ring races online in GT5. It's much harder to go faster in the race while actually 'racing'. But if you're so good that you can 'slipstream someone beside you' I guess you're right.

Not gonna get into the middle of this (I think you guys should work it out on the track lol) but technically, there is some side-drafting effects in GT5. Not as good as lining up bumper-to-bumper drafting, but it's still there in the game :P

For the qualifier we are going to set the room to 1 Lap and launch you guys like that. We're only going to get 1 shot at it, so you have to decided to push for pole or keep it conservative for a decent time!

Side drafting works somewhat, but you don't want the 'wash out' affect when you're cornering.

Just because someone is faster than you does not mean they're "hot lapping" or cutting corners as you imply.
That's where the argument starts, you need to stop assuming.
I cant hit 6.40's either, and Im sure Im not alone, but you don't see the rest of us making unfounded allegations.

Maybe you should race with ImmortalPilot one day. Might help you see...

I don't need to race with anyone to 'see'. I never said I couldn't get that low in times either ;). I said NORMALLY as fast as you should go is 6:45. That's a guesstimate for people who aren't quite as fast. There was no argument. There was assumption. I've seen plenty of racers use grass and curbing on the Ring where they're not suppose to and it gains them plenty of time. I didn't specifically accuse anyone here of doing it either. So don't imply I did.

Fair enough. Is anyone going on to practice today? Need to get my Lexus ready but I should be on tonight.

Yeah as Joe said, you'll be doing a 1 lap race for qualifying. If you schedule when you want to qualify in advance, I can basically qualify anyone. Don't put it off guys :P

Ok so the warm up lap is scrubbed now right? Now i have to make a trans setup just for qualifying ughhh lol..

For the qualifier we are going to set the room to 1 Lap and launch you guys like that.

So for qualify we're going to have a race of 1 lap starting from stop in grid?

its still 1 person at a time though right? It kind of sounds like an actual race between all of us for qualifying

Yup. By the way is the car spec locked in? Need to know before I get that stage 3 engine for the Lexus.

Yeah, just one person on track at a time. I'll clarify it in the OP, thx.

Specs are locked in. It's too late to change them at this point imo

Is it locked in for the series as well? I don't mind messing with power limiters but if I have to earn the cr for and set up another Lexus it would be a hassle.

i will just send you one dude lol.. i don't buy much anymore.

I'll have to wait for my qualifying. My car's tuning is not even close to being finished. I have two setups right now and I somehow have to make a compromise between the two. A fast and hard (So TC=1 most likely) and a slower but easier (TC=0)...Neither setup so far feels good enough to run in for hours on end.

Also...I found out I have a mind blowingly fun setup on my Premium Subaru so that has tempted me greatly to use that car - even though it eats tires like mad. It's just so fun. Imagine a 4WD car with a 50-50 torque split that somehow has no understeer and actually has oversteer on demand. Ya.

Are you guys thinking of running a practice race tomorrow, around the same time slot as the race?
