Believe me, I'm the last one who wants to see parade laps. I want to see racing, but not todays "soft" racing.
They could've raced in the rain with the heavy wet's. Why do you think a lot of driver's changed to inter's right after the SC? And the last time I checked the difference between heavy's and inter's, the heavy's could handle a lot more water on the track than the inter's.
You ignore a number of things; no driver-skill on earth can rescue an aquaplaning car, no marshall on earth can survive a wheel to the face and no sporting series on earth could survive a significant crash into the crowd.
The race cannot be run in conditions that make any or all of those things nigh-on inevitable. You say F1's run with that much standing water; can you remember when? I'd be interested to see the actual conditions and the ride-height of that year's cars.
Back to the race ... great stuff so far, one SC can turn it all on it's head though
