No. The tongue is directly connected to the heart by the bloodstream, so any infection can travel VERY fast. Plus over time the piercing will move forward, and eventually split your tongue, like a snake

Two words: LOL WUT? :odd:

I like how, so far, it's all the members with pictures of cars in their avatars that have said all the dumbest stuff so far.

*checks entire thread* *Laughs really hard at how correct that statement was*

The reason I had it done? To cure my 19 year habit of thumbsucking. It worked, and if my daughter is still sucking hers when she's 16 then she's going to be taken to the piercing studio... :odd:

Most interesting reason I've ever heard for a tongue peircing. And I see where it could work.👍

BTW, what in the wide, wide world of sports, is Weetabix?:dunce:

For me, piercing is a non-option.
It's not a gender thing, nor a sexual orientation thing.
I just happen to HATE needles of all sorts.
Like most nurses, I believe that with needles tis more blessed to give than to receive. That has always been my position on that.

This thread is hilarious, personally, I don't like piercings or earrings because I don't want pierce my body, but if he likes it, I don't see the problem, a tongue piercing is like in another part of the body.
A tongue piercing makes you gay? of course, and a pink T-shirt too.

Thanks Duke for calling me stupid!!

I had my tongue pierced 12 years ago not for fashion and it certainly wasn't trendy then (it is now, makes me look like a sheep!!). It didn't hurt, and didn't become infected. In actual fact, it's been pierced three times now. The swelling can be a little troublesome, but nothing a diet of weetabix and soup for a few days won't cure. A good weightloss solution!
I don't have chipped teeth and nor do any of my friends who have their tongues pierced.

I suppose it's bettter than a x year old woman with a dummy.

The OP of this thread is quite, quite stupid.

I've got no piercings and have no intentions of having a piercing, a tattoo in a hidden place, however, may be a possibility.

Ummm, actually, it was the right ear being pierced that allegedly signaled being gay ("Left is right, and right is wrong") and the left meant straight.

Tounge studs are gay for one simple reason...they're to enhance oral pleasure on a mans penis.

A tongue piercing makes you gay? of course, and a pink T-shirt too.

...right ear, tongue stud, and pink t-shirt... Cheers chaps - I'm off to the shops 👍

So, for all intents and purposes, it's like our Shredded Wheat Cereal?

Sort of. Shredded wheat (which have too, incidentally) is strands of wheat, whereas Weetabix is more sort of... crumbly flakes I suppose..

I like how you think a fact is dumb stuff.
You first need to demonstrate that it is in fact, a fact. (And without resorting to cultural stereotypes to do it.)

Why do you think you can get different stud ends for them that all have to do with enhancing the pleasure from getting head?

Because the assumption they actually do that is entirely fellatious fallacious; why do you think you can get different stud ends for ears and rims and eyebrows and . . . —I think you get my point.

There is a piercing you can get right above your penis, around the pubic hair region that is for stimulating the clitoritis while she's riding you, would you not consider a girl who gets that to be gay?

Would you consider it strange if I didn't? (Especially considering how inconvenient a piercing like that is - trust me - I know.)

On another note, the susceptibility of subdermal piercings to infection is so great, I can't imagine anyone in their right mind ever getting pierced where they're going to be rubbing genitalia against it. That kind of friction is never good; just look at the failure rates of Prince Albert piercings (though they, specifically, are pierced on a different type of flesh and do not share directly the same problems).

The point of it is to please the same sex in which the person is, therefore leading people to assume they're gay.
You're forgetting that the predominant reason for piercings is aesthetic and not functional. Only a very small number of people get piercings for functional reasons, simply because actually using a piercing to do anything is locally stressful on the body and can cause tissue damage.

Anyway, your piercing stereotypes haven't been relevant since the mid-80s, and I'm surprised no-one else has informed you so.

Is it a tattoo of Mr Hankey the Christmas Poo peeking out of your bum....?
That would be pretty hidden... I hope.

:D

Although I can't seem to find anything on the documentary I saw on TV a short time ago, I can post this from a random site.

Tongue piercings are generally considered very useful for oral sex — although that's definitely not the only reason people get the piercing! The location of the piercing should match the style of oral sex you will be performing... Some people find that piercings closer to the tip work well if you will be performing oral sex on women, with deeper piercings being slightly better for men.

I'm going to assume the other reason is too be cool and fit in by giving the illusion that you love giving oral. I know thats made a lot of girls popular that I hang out with.

Because the assumption they actually do that is entirely fellatious fallacious; why do you think you can get different stud ends for ears and rims and eyebrows and . . . —I think you get my point.

Sure you can get different stud ends for those, but do any of the stud ends claim to inhance oral sex? No. Why? Because those studs aren't associated with that practice.

Would you consider it strange if I didn't? (Especially considering how inconvenient a piercing like that is - trust me - I know.)

Strange? But did I say that anyone without one was strange? No. I said men get them to enhance pleasure for their ladies, and if a lady got one, then it would make you think she might be gay. Some men grow mustaches because their ladies like them. Do you think people without one are strange?

Lenny Kravitz has both (pubic region and prince albert) and claims that both magnify the pleasure he gives to his partner. Aslong as its deep enough into the flesh, the friction shouldn't pull it out.

You're forgetting that the predominant reason for piercings is aesthetic and not functional. Only a very small number of people get piercings for functional reasons, simply because actually using a piercing to do anything is locally stressful on the body and can cause tissue damage.

In todays society, yes. Its all about image, and giving the illusion that you're something you're not. I'm simply saying that if you're a guy, don't get a stud, it makes people think you perform oral sex on men. If you must have one because all the cool kids are getting one, get one closer to the tip of your tongue so girls atleast think you're the master of going down.

And getting your tongue pierced hasn't been cool for almost 10 years now. The fad has come and gone, which means what I'm saying is what most people are thinking now.

I think tongue piercings are mainly for style.
I see girls of 12, 13, 14 years old with piercings in their tongues, and I doubt (a little) they think about sexual functions of their piercings.

👎 You could at least try!

Edit: Thought about doing a disclaimer for this post...

, might be wise.

Denise! Cancel the flowers and box of Milk Tray...

Clearly you've never had the pleasure of visiting Birmingham.

EDIT

Mayhaps 'pleasure' was the wrong deliberately ironic word to use there...

Birmingham is a very strange place, been there for a work a couple of times, normally big cities tend to be quite monotonous (barring Brighton), but Brum was just, weird.

Where the hell did you hear that?

The hospital. My mom's the Pathology department supervisor, and has showed me what happens, through books and testimonials from the nurses

Seriously man? Hardly worth a response really.

But not the ears? Wow, the things you learn on teh intertubes.

picard-no-facepalm.jpg

I highly doubt that piercing your tongue will make you homosexual. Seriously.

But on topic, whatever floats your boat I guess, get the piercing if you want, i really don't care whether or not a man has his tongue pierced.

EDIT: Just saw the "Bloodstream" post.

Allow to further explain myself here. The bloodstream comment was obviously worded terribly wrong! What I was trying to say is that by having a piercing in such a moist place as on your tongue, any bacteria will stay alive for longer. Then add in the fact that your mouth is filled with soft, porous membranes, and you'll see what I mean. Say you've got a fat dip in, you're clearly spitting, but still getting the effects of the nicotine and all the cancer causing chemicals because it's seeping into all the soft membranes. Having the tongue pierced is an open connection right into the bloodstream, as it will never scab up and heal while the piercing is in, obviously.

And the piercing moving forward is completely true. It moves very slow though, it'll take decades to finally split it

That's why you keep your tongue clean. For aftercare instructions I tell people to keep a small bottle of Listerine on them at all times. So after the eat, drink, smoke, dip or whatever, they can wash there mouth out and keep it clean. As Milford said earlier it's probably the quickest healing piercing there is. You really have to neglect it for a correctly pierced tongue to have many problems.

Also, I still don't believe the tongue ring will work itself out. Maybe if it's pierced to close the tip, but piercings directly through something like tongues and lips normally don't push out. Whereas piercing off a flat surface like eyebrows and belly's are more prone to that. I believe the only thing that will happen is the hole may get bigger simply for playing with the ring gradually stretching it bigger.

It will heal and it heals quickly, as I already explained. It's all to do with saliva. It's the same as any other hole in the body and isn't more susceptible to infection at all.

Again, you missed my comment. My tongue has been pierced for TWELVE years. There is absolutely no movement. Does that make it a little clearer that migration in tongue piercings doesn't happen?

The only piercings I am aware of which migrate out are eyebrow and bellybutton, but this is due to skin being pinched as opposed to the bar being pushed through something. Surely if tongue piercings moved forwards and caused an eventual split, by the very same method all earlobe piercings would move downwards and split the lobes, surely?

I won't carry on, I don't imagine any of you want the mental image of a split Prince Albert... (oops, too late ;) )

Maybe there is a magnet at the back of your head that is negating the forward crawl your piercing is doing, ners.
