Yep, today I returned my suck MP3-player and bought a PS2+memory card+GT3 for the money. I think GT3 seem to be pretty much like Sega Gt 2002, anyway I like it more.

A few questions though:

1. Can you re-paint cars without buying a whole new car?
2. Why did not the "value" on my MX-5 rise when I bought upgrades worth over 10000?
3. Can I switch parts from cars to cars?
4. How/where can I get little more money than $1000-1500, without cheating?

Thanks :D

*NO repainting cars
*just like in real life, most people wont pay more for an upgraded car
*only rims can be changed from car to car, but there are limitations
*race you asss off, sell winning cars, its all about invested time !

Took your time didn't you :D
Or you could just invest in a cheap copy of GT:C and win a couple or races. You then get a gift of 10 million creds!

Hi, Lofberg, and welcome to GTP and GT3.

Most of your questions have been answered, but I'll also recommend you read through the "Read This" threads at the top. Those should answer the next 10 or 15 questions you have.

Have fun and enjoy the game!

By getting experience in GT3, you'll know what to expect from GT4 in December!

As for making money, its VERY difficult at the beginning, and is often very monotonous as you race the easiest races over and over again.

wow, you are kind of late... you could've waited like.. couple of months and buy gt4!
anyways.. welcome to GTP.

1. nope, you cannot repaint those cars...
2. well, it's like.. you get a used car, and trying to sell it even though it has good upgrades in them... i saw a evo 8 selling for its stock price (30 grand(?)) with 40 grand of worth upgrades in it.
3. nope, you can't switch parts from cars to cars...
4. hmm, well, if you have a MX-5 (that was my first car also) i kept running "Sunday's Cup"'s superspeed way... 1000 credits. i saved it up until i got my STi.. then a viper.. then i cheated and got trillon credits :sly:

that should help.. i think. enjoy your stay in GTP and remember, use search!

I kept racing Super Speedway on Sunday Cup with the Toyota Trueno AE86 until I had enough for my RX-7 Type-RZ. Then I raced the Super Speedway in the last championship in the beginner races for $10,000 over and over to purchased enough upgrades to race it in the Ametuer races.

do what races you can with the miata then go for an impreza and aim for the rally leauge. you get a car like every three races and after you complete it if you sell them all you end up with about 1,000,000 credits over what you started with. not to mentions an escudo which is good for the super speedway endurance race. and if your lucky you'll get an F1 car from that.

ps. If anyone would like me to post the complete 2,000,000 credit beginer strategy just ask.

You could try for all golds in the IB License test, which will get you a free car that will easily win the first few events, and have money left over for upgrades. You might have some difficulty (okay, a lot of difficulty) doing this if you just recently bought the game, though.

You'll notice you can't win cars over, and over again like in GT2. But, you can win prize cars over and over again in the series races. One easy money race is the European Championship in the Amateur class. If you use the save trick, do a search for it, you can then choose what car, out of four, you want to be awarded. Wait until you win the Gillet race car, and then sell if for some quick and easy credits.

Are you crazy?! First of all the graphics are so blurry it looks like someone rubbed Vaseline on the TV and the physics of the car is nothing compared to that of GT3

.getting my groove back!

In answer to your last question, Lofberg, try this approach if you wish:

Here's a fairly quick way of making a fair bit of cash without having to do the same boring races again and again and again etc.

STAGE 1

Begin with 40, 000cr nestegg.

Then to enter the Amateur FR races buy a Z28 in a nice shade of green (colour optional :D) . I fitted T2 tyres (10250cr), a Sports gearbox (5600cr), a Racing Flywheel (1000cr) and changed the oil (250cr) for a total cost of 39930 cr. i.e. a whole 70cr left in my pocket .

I'd better win then ... luckily I did giving a prize fund of 5070cr. Bought a Semi-Race Exhaust and paid some grease-monkeys to take out the extra seats and so on to lighten her up whilst I chatted with some of the lady spectators I'd impressed with my driving skills {"Yes, that's right, I'm a professional racing driver ... would you like to sit in my car?" {waves hand airily at garage, not realising he's pointing right at the pile of all the unwanted kit, including seats, the mechanics have just removed} }. Prize fund now at 1120cr after an expenditure of 3950cr.

With the Z28 thus modified, won Laguna Seca quite easily, gaining another 5000cr and upping the prize fund to 6120. Paid out 4700cr for an engine rebuild to improve power by thirty/fourty horses, leaving 1420cr rattling about in the tin. Had a fine race at R246 and took great pleasure in leaving the Nippon Siki brigade trailing in the Z28's wake on their home ground .

That added another 5000cr to the fund and the race organisers weren't very happy when I said that rather than some 'special edition' rice burner I'd take 125000cr in cash if they'd be so kind .

So the prize fund stands at 131420cr if I've added it up right. Time to sell the Z28. It's nearly new, only having done a grand total of 21 laps on three courses (84.7km), but the second hand market is brutal here it seems and I'm only offered 5707cr for it. I politely point out that it's had nearly 26000cr spent on it in the last three days but the buyers are unimpressed and, reluctantly, the sale is made.

Prize fund stands at 137127cr and I'm in the market for a new Merc as we speak .

Time for Stage 2 of the earning process.

STAGE 2

The Silver Arrows triptych of races is a natural for this step as I now have enough money to buy a rather splendid SLK 230 and spanner a few optional extras onto her.

From previous runs in the series (I've used it as a resource-gatherer before) I know that the most challenging race is the middle one as Super Speedway is decided more by the car than the driver . So I prep the Merc with that in mind.

T4 Tyres 16500cr) are the first thing on the list to provide higher grip in the fast corners. I back this up with a Stage 1 Weight Reduction (a snip at 1200cr) so that there's less mass trying to pull the car sideways through those same corners. To provide the necessary grunt to keep things rolling along, I buy a Stage 2 Turbo (13500cr), Semi Racing Exhaust (2900cr) and Sports ROM (1500cr) and put some high performance oil (250cr) in the sump. The final but important addition is a Racing Flywheel 1050cr) to help the revs spool up a little bit quicker through the somewhat sluggish gearbox. One performance based note is that the standard box, although slower to accelerate, is actually quicker overall at Super Speedway as it doesn't top out.

That's a total investment of 92210cr leaving me with a nice nest-egg of 44917cr.

I run the race and win handily after an initial battle as the superior power of the field reeled me in through the first corner - a spot of drafting and an early turn in for Corner 2 soon puts paid to any AI aspirations of victory .

20000cr richer, I head for Trial Mountain and realise that I should have used my knowledge of the series to add less kit and have done this race first–easy win for another 20000cr.

Finally, Rome Reverse, the easiest race of the three in my opinion, despite (or maybe because of)the technical nature of the course. A very comfortable stroll with a winning margin of 3.5 seconds or so.

The prize fund ratchets up by 60000cr to 104917cr and I, extremely reluctantly, sell back the DTM to the organisers for 245000cr, giving a total of 349917cr

So there you go, six different races in two different cars and nearly 350000cr in the bank. Easy and not dull.

Hope that helps anyhow and a warm welcome to the Planet too.

I'll go for some "Turbo Races" in Amateur that'll give me 5000 for a win etc. I just have to get me a better upgrade of some kind. Cya, and yeah, thanks for all the help. I'll try to make something useful out of that :)

It's a trade-off, big bucks or neat cars, but keep in mind you can never win these cars (Trueno SS edition, Mercedes CLK Touring Car) again, unless you trade with a friend, or start a game over from scratch. That's a warning to you.

The Amateur GT-R (Red Badge) events pay out 30,000 per win. Not bad for a few laps. Keep the Nismo 400R you win, though, as you'll never win that again either.

On the other hand, the European 5-race Series can net you a 300,000 credit Vertigo which you can win multiple times. Or pop for a 18,000-credit Miata, some tires, and take on the 40-lap Roadster Enduro for a 100,000 prize and a chance to win another Miata, or potentially an F1 car (sold mine early on for 300,000...mainly because I don't trust myself to use the car as you should!)

People laugh at the Vitz, but the series pays out 25,000 for 5 wins, and a 10k bonus (plus another Vitz worth another 3k). It's also a good way to get some early dough, and to maybe spring for the Altezza/IS events in the Amateur series...you could win an Altezza LM that is a great all-around race car (and is worth a bit, too).

Another handy bit of advice to you: If you find a road car you like a lot, one that's not too underpowered, but enough to keep up with the computer, be sure you do NOT tune it with parts like Engine Balancing, Port & Polish, or Weight Reduction. The Polyphony Digital Cup and the Trial Mountain 2 Hours enduros require "Normal" cars that have no tuning; some things can be removed like race transmissions, and flywheels, suspensions, turbos...but the three things I mentioned before are stuck to the car for good. Then again, if you save them for last, you probably won't have a money issue for buying a new car for those events.

Check out a few pages around the GT3 forum, you'll learn a lot and get some answers. Print out a copy of the prize list, too. Of course, you may have more fun overall, if you play the game the way you want to, without hints or tricks.

Hey Lofberg ya beat me to it... I buy GT3 tomorrow. How far are you? You got a small headstart in our lack-of-social-life race lol... I don't think I will beat this game 100percent with all golds. The liscense tests are HARD!

Enjoy the game, Lofberg... it's really fun!

yeah ... license tests are hard, when you start to play the game first time. Acctually - very hard if you want gold. But after I got 100% (took it nice and slow) I got all golds with not much work. You learn tracks and car handling with driving races ... and that helps. ...

How are graphics in GT4 compared to GT3? Physics?
Graphics are even better, physics are rumored to be as well, though they are not much different in GT4 Prologue. There is a GT4 board where you can read a lot more about it.

Lofberg: Something I tried that seemed to move me along quite nicely in Gran Turismo 3 was to finish all the Time Trials in Arcade mode and win the Panoz Esperante GT-R. If you're interested in completing the game at 100%, you'll have to knock out the Time Trials anyway, and you win a bonefied race car for your efforts. Then jump into the licenses and obtain them all, bronze is enough but all golds will gain you more free big cars. Then when you have the licenses you can get into the higher paying races with the Panoz.

That way you're up and running a big quicker. You can sweep the Beginner series and start racing in Amature and Professional.

HOWEVER: Most people here, myself included, will suggest that you take your time and work through it in a more standard manor. Skipping ahead will cause you to loose out on some valuable driving instruction and "stunt your skill growth". It all depends on what your goal is with the game.

Lofberg: Welcome have fun. GT3 is increidble and GT4 will be better.

Sounds like maybe you should do a little less of that.
