what on earth is this tabbed browsers thing?
It means that when you have multiple websites open, you don't have to have your taskbar crowded with a bunch of browser buttons which can get stacked in Windows XP when you've a bunch of programs open. I regularly have several websites open - Google, Gmail, a couple of forums I visit, etc. and it's just far neater and easier using tabbed browsing.
why should i switch over and can someone give me a FULL list of whats different/better between these 2 browsers?
It's much more secure and is far less of a target for viruses/adware/spyware.
It's got a built-in popup blocker (it doesn't catch them all, but it's a hell of a lot better then Internet Exploder).
It's got tabbed browsing (see above).
It's fully compliant with W3C standards. Microsoft deliberately include non-standard HTML tags and CSS styles or don't apply some tags and standards properly. As a result, lazy or incompetent web designers design websites which don't work properly in other browsers. The more people that use Firefox and other W3C compliant browsers, the more pressure will be on Microsft to standardise their browser and quit abusing their near monopoly.
In my experience, Firefox seems to be much more customisable because of the huge range of extensions, skins, etc.
I have a couple of issues with Firefox though - on some forums it gets the graphics a bit screwy, including GTPlanet and some Flash games will only work for me in Internet Exploder. I've also heard it's a bit of a memory hog. Apart from that, it's overall a far superior piece of software than Internet Explorer.
