Wow,
My friend was playing gt3 and got my 1000+ hp supra rz and was attempting to drift (hes never tried before). So, I had him let me try to see if it was any good. Dammm w/3.5 degrees of camber in the front and no traction control crap on normal tires this thing is a drifting maniac. The best part is that its super easy to control and keep in a drift. I think this car might take the place of my 240sx for favorite drifter. gonna go drift so c ya :D.

oh really you barely knew that, well i drift super soft and i always drift high horse power cars so thats cool, watch my vids i posted it on, its a 1000 + hp supra drifting

ok,
Ill have to check them out. i just perfectly linked (on midway i think is the name) a left hand drift through a tunnel to a right handed apex. It was fun

here ya go:

hmmm, cool man, good job. in MY opinion, high HP drift cars are easy. it is harder drifting a lower HP car than a higher HP car when both have racing slicks. try drfting a car with less than 300HP and mediums all around. drifting high HP cars can be fun thoguh. you get to go faster:p .

Try drifting a stock Trueno SS.. .That'll teach you how to make nice smooth drifts :grumpy:

I had to teach myself how to drift only by watching CudaMan's vids. I really didn't have any help other than that. I used high HP cars at the beginning, but then I lowered the HP and upped the stickiness on the tires. that might be why I am smooth with my drifts. but then and again, I like to take my 700HP RX-7 FD3S out for some runs. it is just a matter of personal preference I guess.

It IS preference. Because I know I prefer 1000+ hp Skylines (R34, R33), and I usually only drift AWD cars...

I can drift low low hp cars and my 240sx is like 380ish pony wise. I like the Supra right now because I can hold a drift longer w/it and its teaching me new techniques.

ouch man!

dont judge, whom u dont know! i enjoy drifting the 1067HP Supra! doesnt mean i suck! doesnt mean thats ALL i drift either!

"anyone can drift a car of 500+HP" ???

really? u make it sound so easy! good for the people who can and for those that cant must not be worthy of the game i guess according to u!

and i must say i honestly havnt seen many Supra drift videos with 1000+hp! u know why?..... CAUSE IT TAKES SKILL TOO! just as it does with low horsepower cars! Dont act soo stuck up!

sure drifting low horse power cars is challenging and making it look good can be just as hard. but honestly, when u can finish a lap on any course WITHOUT spinning out and have no traction in the rear pretty much the entire time, not to mention pulling a lap time that beats "professional leauge" racers, that TAKES SKILL!!!!! im proud to say i can do that with a car with more then 1000+HP! (as seen in my video, aside from the two straight aways in Apricot Hill, I HAVE NO TRACTION!!!!)

i know i am prob opening a stupid can of worms here, and now peope are going to say "drifitng shouldnt be racing"! well TFB! yes i can grip drive, yes i can drift , and yes i can drift and win races as fast as the grippers!!

High HP cars are fun! so are low HP cars! but dont go putting down those u THINK are below u! u play the same game we all do! if this is the only enjoyment and pride u get out of ur life then u need to get out more!

BTW, i can drift low HP cars as well! and yes... under 300HP!! :p

give me any RWD car with full racing supension and simulated tyres and ill start to drift with it...
i guess its mainly because of the tyres?

:) :) :)

If you have a car w/sims and you cant drift with it...then well um you must really be doing something wrong.

Basically its all suspension and tires like you said wassabii :)

im lost here, maybe u don't understand that w/ more hp, the faster u accelerate...

it u want to speed drift, ill challenge you, my chaser vs. ur supra

i'd like to see it, ur supra vid wasn't that great. lets see ur under 300 hp cars drift...
With the chance of possibly repeating myself - The Trueno SS with it measly 217Bhp ;)

:D I put 70 on Exhaust Note. 👍
But you say it takes skill. It takes skill to keep the car from hitting walls, but not a whole lot of skill to get it drifting through a corner. :odd: Even I admit that.

I really could care less WHAT car anyone has if its on sims. All you have to do is turn and the rear end brakes lose. However its pretty hard imo to keep it from spinning out while keeping a sharp angle (or any angle) so it looks cool....

Joining the convo kind off late, but i dont think that we need to get all defensive about eh hp we use to drift... drifting with other hp's just means we change tires basically... Yes there are little idiosyncracies that come with each type of tire but that is all more hp means... more grip needed...

I personally enjoy lower horsepower vehicles... and that is purely my preference at this time in my development through gt3... It is easy to start things out with higher hp... It is easier to start out and win races with more hp... easier to start drifting with more hp because with more hp newbies to whatever they are attempting with use the more hp to their benefit... more hp means more power to break traction... as well as higher speeds in the straights... The next step for either racing or drifting would be a move to light, low hp vehicles... It is here that real skills are honed... and here where one relies on real driving perfection than the ability of the car to overpower all mistakes... The next step would be a move ot incorporate all cars into the drivers style... this is the last and the hardest step...

Basically what i am saying is high hp without skill is useless... if you want to be fast... if you want to be stylish... you have to build up your skills... i find that lower hp removes the ability to rely on a car... you will learn the fastest way through a corner... or the control needed to drift perfectly through any corner... If one s tarts out with high hp and stays there they will never develop becuase being fast or drifting perfectly with more hp on the same tires takes much much more skill... a minute mistake will prove unfixable at your speeds... With low hp you have time to correct and teach yourself...

I personally race and drift with only 250-400 hp cars... i believe that speed can definitely stand out with lower hp cars in racing... and the same can be said for drifting skill... Too many people think its the car that makes the drifter... but it is not so... it is always the driver and the skill he or she carries to the car...

Dang exnote,

glad to hear ur just soooooo confident u could beat me! must mean u have alot more dead time on ur hands to practice then i do! the game has been at my friends house an hour away for about 2 months now! though im in no rush to drive over there waste my gas and time to pick it up bring it home and prove to u what i can do! after joining this board though i do feel more of a need to play the game now, now that i know and feel i have surrounded myself with more experienced GT3 drifters!

ill swing out there at some point soon and grab the game and then sit down for a few and knock out a few turns with the Trueno SS (which was the first car i ever practied with!) it seemed easy doing drifts with the low HP cars, and thats why i slowly started stepping up the HP to practice more control! from T. SS, to 240, 300, Skylines, then Supra! was deffeintly a great way to learn control and understand the cars and physics of the game more! though of course exnote will disagree and say i must have done it asss backwards!

i saw Back to the Future III last night and cant stop thinking this feels like MadDog vs. Marty! HAHAAAHHA!

"ok MadDog, 8am! i like to kill people after breakfast!" ROFL!!!

exnote, u clearly seem to have more experience and confidence in ur Gaming skills. more power to u! i seem to trip over a guy like u in every forum! so i wont bother with the pissing contest, but ill post some low HP vids as soon as i get my game back!
