Just Got F2007 and I'm Not Impressed

And how anyone can drive it with FFB higher than 3 is beyond me.
I drive the F2007 with the force feedback set to 10. :irked: It makes me feel like a real man for a little bit.

I know quite a few people who do. It's not too bad but in a long run it kills your arms(like real racing). So I drive all the cars on GT5P with FF on 5, including the F2007.

Lately i've been revisiting F2007 TT's trying to get back into the top 10 while being clean. I used to be in the top 10 at every track late last year, but over time I noticed i'd dropped out. So i've gone back and got all my top 10 places back:sly::dopey: But driving the F2007 again reminded me why I used to drive it every afternoon/night for hours last year. I just love it.:D

I want to see someone go in a straight line with the F2007 with FFB on 10. When I have mine set on 1 it is way harder to turn the wheel than ALL other cars set on ten. Is this what everybody else feels?

Nope... got FFB on 10 ... only get severe steering shake going above 250 KPH down a straight...

It's not too hard to keep in a straight line while going down a long straight, such as the main straight of Fuji Speedway. I just tighten my grip and try to minimise the shaking. You get quite used to it and it adds to the thrill of driving the F2007.

ABS is banned in F1. Drive the F2007 without ABS to get a more true to life feeling.

While I agree with using N tires, limiting yourself to N1s seems unnecessary. In real life F1 cars have 4 different tire compounds, and we have no idea which N tire corresponds to which real life compound, or if that's even how it works.

I've watched F1 religiously since 2007, and the in-game F2007's sound is horrid. Horrid. The basic frequencies are correct (all it takes is some math to get those..) but besides that it sounds nothing like an F1 car.

The other thing that bugs me is the car's reaction to the road. In real life, everything shakes violently, especially the drivers head. In-game, the suspension bobs lazily, and the helmet sways gently back and forth, and even worse, the steering feels completely dead.
I'm not sure if this happens because Prologue has undetailed tracks or because the game doesn't update the physics enough times per second, but it bugs the crap out of me.
Breaking news - GT5P is NOT a Formula One sim

This thread just inspired me to go back & drive the F2007 for the first time in more than a year. Wow! Not good at all! Now I remember why, immediately after I bought it & raced it a few times, I gave up on it: weirdly smooth & "spongy", no feel, & unconvincing, artificial sound. Driving it, you feel oddly disconnected from the car - kind of the opposite to the way I would imagine it actually feels IRL.

I don't know how realistic the cars in F1CE are, but they're certainly more convincing feeling than GT5P's F2007, & way more fun to drive.

I'm quite surprised in the differing opinions on this car - although I think it might come down to controller vs wheel.

I'm currently "saving up" to get this - what's the quickest way to get the cash together?

I Agree F1CE had it pretty much nailed compared to GT5P. BUT...I still enjoy the F2007 in GT just because it is the only "true" racecar we

have.:grumpy:
Nice to hear from ya Biggles.

I believe it's the Ford GT one make dealership race at HSR. 3 laps, 47,000 Cr.

45,000 actually - 15 races later - and the F1 is mine!!

Just been blasting it round Daytona and HSR... it's hilarious!!!

Off to try a track with actual braking in!

EDIT: - Hmmm maybe that course shouldn't've been Suzuka... anything below 2nd gear bend is pretty tricky with the DS3!!

it would be nice with some feedback from a F1 driver, as they are the only people who know how realistic it is ;)

If you want realism, go and drive an F1 car. If you want some fun (which people don't appear to be able to have these days) play this game and enjoy it.

good point. I love the F1 - even though I'm not really good in it. I s'pose people have fun when the stuff is realistic. I know sometimes in GTA I like to just cruise and obey the road rules....is this normal?

Any way, there needs to be a balance - and this balance comes to people at different levels. If you want to go fly a plane, you could pick GTA SA, but if YOU want to FLY a plane, Flight simulators are the go with almost full simulation.

Smooth and spongy are two opposites

And this car is in no way spongy, it handles like its on rails.

The car is absolutely amazing and this thread should be destroyed

I wouldn't say smooth & spongy are opposites. To clarify: strangely smooth on the road surface, unconvincingly spongy in the steering (I'm talking about with a G25 - might feel different with a pad).

The thread should be "destroyed"?!!!

Went back to take Schumacher's Ferrari for a spin in F1CE: electrifying sound, stiff suspension that communicates the bumps in the road surface, precise but demanding steering, gear shifting that demands that you actually match engine revs accurately - all far superior to Prologue's F2007. I have no real idea how "realistic" F1CE is: but the bottom line is it's demanding, deep & above all fun! 👍

My friend, not associated with GTPlanet, races a A1GP driver. He only races the F2007, so he hasnt been playing GT5P for a while. Dont know If that tells you anything, but he does like the F2007. Ill get his Real name sometime (of course he could be lieing, but Why would you claim to be an A1GP driver instead of a F1 driver?)

you say he likes the F2007? has he said anything about the handling of the car and how realistic it is?
A1GP is pretty close to F1 so, if he is telling the truth, it could be a pretty good yardstick

The point of these cars is that they are inherrently very very diffucult to drive well. It requires lots of practice to get anywhere close to their best out of them compared to their road going counterparts. If you are able to master driving these cars then its a very rewarding feeling doing so, but bear in mind that these cars wont naturally flatter your driving as may be the case with road going versions.

I wasnt overly impressed myself with the F1 car myself but practiced until I was able to drive it reasonably well and secondly to enjoy driving it, now its one of my fave cars in the game.

Dont quote me on that one but i THINK Felippe Massa said that he loves to drive GT5P because of its realistic feeling, i could be wrong here though.
