Hi guys just got the G27 and am trying to set it up but when ever I go to practice and try it seems like the wheel is resisting a lot when I turn almost to the point where it seems like I would break it if I have to turn.

The wheel does not seem to be free. When I put the car into reverse the wheel frees up and I can flick it from left to right no problem.

It feels like the car has its own mind and wants to go on its own. Does it matter if the controller is on?
Any thoughts?

Settings are simulation/FFB 5

Thanks.

No power steering is off. SO this is normal then? Basically it feels like I am gong against the motor. The wheel wont break if I forcefully hold it in place when it wants to turn?

Its my first wheel ever so that could be a learning curve.

I found the power steering should be set ON this make it easy to steer.

I think your wheel is fine. You say: "When I put the car into reverse the wheel frees up and I can flick it from left to right no problem."
It is normal you have little to no feedback in reverse. The front wheels (where the car steers with) are at the back then. So there is not a heavy car behind the wheels trying to keep them in line. What you experience is just the feedback. ;) When the front wheels are at the front there is a heavy car pushing the wheels forward trying to keep it go straigt on.

That's precisely the point of the motors, they're there to give you haptic feedback about what the 'car' is 'doing' by resisting the movements you should be making. As has been said, everyone goes through the 'This is so weird I feel like I'm breaking something!' phase but you're supposed to push against the motor by design, so you won't break anything. At least not immediately, the wheel will die eventually for one reason or another; if it's not a cracked encoder wheel it'll be blown MOSFETs, and if it's not that it'll be a burnt out motor. That's what warranties are for!

Thanks for the replies, makes sense =)

Although now I have another issue, using the wheel on PC, I cannot detect my clutch pedal. In the game controller properties the pedal is stuck at 100%.

edit solved

finally! for those with similar issues first uninstall drivers from device mnger and uninstall logitech profiler. then do:

Unplug both the USB cable and the A/C power adapter from both the unit and wall socket.

Wait thirty seconds and plug the A/C power adapter back into the unit and wall socket.

re install drivers and plug in wheel into different usb port when prompted (Plug the USB cable back into a different USB port on your computer. This will cause Windows to build a new calibration profile for your G27)

that should fix it and the clutch should function
