Okay guys, not quite sure what to do now. I have got a gold in speedway and high speed ring. Any other race I either finish last or like 7th. Something stupid like that. The reason for this, I'm always getting clipped. No matter what at some point im getting hit, then I usually make my way back, and then I get hit again which by then the race is over. I'm getting really frustrated with this event. Ive been using the M&M Camry. And yes I have searched, and have been using set ups that have been listed, but it is still not cutting it. This AI, jesus.:grumpy::grumpy:

The ASM is slowing you down.

Turn it off using one of two ways...

1. Turn off ABS. This automaticall disables ASM too.
2. Remap your controls to include the RA options and turn it off during racing.

Should make for an easy gold if you hold an inside line and stay away from the AI.

Im not too concerned with the oval tracks as I am with the stupid track courses. Those seem to be posing more difficulty. And I believe I have turned my ABS off.

right there with you man. no idea what im doing wrong. seems like even the slightest amount of braking on those track courses and i spin out, not to mention its almost impossible to get back going without spinning out AGAIN.

Just keep trying till you can't stand it. Those damn A.I. suck, and always seem to get in the way at the worst time. But then after 20 trys you will get first and really will feel a big relief, and it really feels like work.

I would be willing to bet large sums of money that a LOT of the time (not all of the time) the problem has NOTHING to do with the AI, it's because you don't know how to race two wide properly and can't stick to an inside or outside line only to save your life. I had very little trouble with the Nascar races.

I didn't turn ASM off for the races I couldn't change it. Turn it off when you can & just follow the AI to see when you can pass them. You want 0 countersteer with NASCAR cars because they tend to be a b****.

Change to racing soft tyres and turn off ABS like dude says. Only other thing you can do is change your gears for the street courses so the topspeed is about 200 in the gear setup screen that way you get better acceleration

Was that in response to the TC? He said he's done the ovals... NASCAR driving rules are kinda thrown out of the window with the other tracks.

If that were true why does it appear I can get gold in High speedway and the indy speedway? The other two tracks are really giving problems.

Leave the ABS on for all tracks but Daytona Speedway. There you will want it off. I had it on for the championship when I ran it. Golded the first 4 finished dead last on Daytona loosing to much speed in the corners and then got spun out.

Like there is no advice on handling the mazda track or the grand one? its like the first turn im dunzo. and if not the first it like just after that.

No, I was just speaking in general.

The rules do go out the widow on the other tracks. My advice would be to use ABS set to 1 and TCS set to 3-4 with racing softs on the two road courses. Oh, and be gentle with the throttle. :sly:

Its odd because Ill go into the turn with minimal or no throttle, as the turn is almost complete around the apex just after, as im straightening out i will give gas and then i will hammer down once im straight. But it seems that the AI can go through the turn faster and accelerate faster coming out of the turn. If i did the same, I spin out...

Soft tires ABS=1 TCS to suit your style I found that I had no issues on any course except Daytona. My Bspec Bob had some issues on Grand Valley but I did not.

It's because the AI almost always have the TCS turned on to some degree, that can help because you will be able to give it some throttle through the corners without having to be uber-precise.

I beat all these races without any trouble. Driving a stock car around a road course takes some throttle control and learning how to bump and bang without crashing. I had a great time in those races.

Like so many of you have had no difficulty and I feel like an idiot. But its not that im terrible at the game. Ive been driving with aids off since I bought the game and have beaten everything till NASCAR and Formula GT cause i dont have that car. But yeah, jesus this is harder then the historic cup.

Turn your ABS to 0, it will disable the ASM too. I was wondering why my speed always drop to 195mph in the corners even though I was drafting. The culprit is the stupid ASM, which is On by default (I want to kick the person who done this in the nad). Once I turned it off, just hug the yellow line and got gold in first try.

On the button, there is some indepth analysis of this race in another thread.

If you have problems with NASCAR I would not turn of ABS on the Roadtracks.
ASM is only forced on on Indy and Daytona. So you can use ABS on the other tracks and just set it to 0 on the oval.

For me it had nothing to do with ABS, I had to set the gear ratio shorter and max out the downforce for the track races, this made the car handle much better - was able to get in front and lead quite comfortably. Then set it back the other way for the oval and indy races.

I managed to get gold on Indy, Grand Speed Valley, and High Speed Ring. On the fourth track i got rammed and hit the wall. Beeing fed up with trying to win this championship, I waited a lap and rammed the driver in second place overall to place him last.

Fresh start on Daytona, but was sent spinning by the AI after 4 laps. Same thing here. Found the driver now in second place overall and placed him in the wall. Won the event by 10 points. I'll have to get gold on the last 2 races some other time. I just couldn't be bothered anymore.

yeah i just did the NASCAR event and got owned on the last race by that annoying jeff gordon, he slammed me into the wall & made me lose

but turn on TCS for the non nascar tracks it helps alot

I was coming on here to find a thread on this, or post one myself. I was having the exact same problem as many of you have had - finding the oval tracks fine, and the race courses a nightmare spinning out at every corner.

I'v finally got it down. For the oval tracks, turn off every driving aid that you are allowed to change.

For the race tracks, turn Traction controll up to maybe around 4 or 5, Skid recovery on, and ABS to 1. This should make your car handle similarly to a non-Nascar car.

Hope this helped.

I actually really enjoyed the Nascar cup in A-spec.
I had super consistent laps !
AI was way behind!
