Hook up a USB flash drive or external HD to PS3. Go to gamesave folder on PS3. Press triangle. Copy to HD or flash drive.

If your system is running slower after any update including system updates.

Get a USB/FLASHDRIVE and manually download the update from your PC. Then overlap the update with your USB save.

Many people have been having this problem, often if you download updates using a ps3 internet connection it can corrupt the updates data and make your system run rough.

and now i'm really scared . my gt5 completely froze without even starting up and my ps3 restored itself.

Great now I'm worried, the only thing that has happened to me though, was that Route X froze up the first few times I tried it on arcade mode.

Really feel for you OP. My last ps3 died and I lost everything. I havent ever backed up my Gt5 game data since getting a new PS3 and you just reminded me to do it. Thank you.

I don't want to be the kid that points to the most recent update when his ps3 blows up, but is the start-up really sluggish post-update than it was before? It took over 5 minutes to get to the menu screen... :/

AAAHHH im scared now, because i have the old ps3 80 gig big boy that plays ps2 in perfect condition, but shes gettin old. Three times ive had to reset my whole back ground, internet, font, and home screen tv size settings. Gt5 freezes more n more, but i got a big prob. I dont have ps plus, and last time i tried to copy to an external source it told me there was a copy right notice n i cang do it...DONT DIE ON MEEEE!!!!!!!! if someone can help then PLEASE i need it bad.

Played the game this morning and noticed that the thumbnails for certain cars were missing, game seemed really slow and clunky after 2.03, took longer than usual to load between screens etc etc. Not blaming the update I hasten to add, then the game froze a couple of times this morning. After the second reset it reverted to day 0. I had 378 days, 120 cars, 4 million credits and all the DLC.

Warning signs for me were .. 1) Load times much slower. 2) Thumbnails for cars missing in the garage. 3) Stuttering of the cursor when moving it about. 4) Music cutting out. 5) When selecting a car no engine start up sound.

If you see any of those more than once I recommend deleting your game data and re-loading. My game reset on only the second reset after freezing. The game data was corrupted on checking the game save folder.

Luckily I have Playstation Plus so a save from a few days ago means I haven't lost that much, I deleted the game data and am currently re-downloading but on a 0.7 MB connection its slower than my ex wife in a spelling competition.

Just thought it might be a useful heads up for others, perhaps newer players, if I did not have online storage I would have lost the lot. And that would have miffed me just a little bit.

Anyone else had the above problems since 2.03 ??
It's funny, because I recently re-installed my game data, and it actually caused these exact symptoms you describe somewhat.

Well I finally got all the updates downloaded. The save that was made yesterday, the one I downloaded from my online storage with PS Plus has had some weird side effects. It showed me in a WRC car that I have not used in ages, no profile pic, most thumbnails wrong or missing, DLC Car Pack 1 all present and correct but DLC Car Pack 2 are showing in my garage exactly as I left them but if I select them it tells me I need to re-download the pack, they have the yellow exclamation mark icon next to them too. Bit strange. The game does seem to be running smoother when I open the garage and click between icons though.
I just reinstalled the game data the other day and saw the same thing. If you click on one of the blank thumbnails and click the triangle button a little menu will come up with the option to restore all thumbnails. This process will take some time. You can also redo your profile pic easily.

Edit: I have a 3mbps connection and it took me 4 hours to download the 13 updates and install the 8GB's of data from the disc. It took another 45min. to rebuild the thumbnails for about 500 cars.
