Just lost my game data at level 37/40

I'm devastated.
I really have no idea what happened.
I turned off my PS3 this morning, some 4 hours after last playing it and when I turned it back on this evening I was at level 0. My save game is corrupted and not backed up. I've used 100's of hours to get where I am. Is there really nothing I can do? I'd even send Sony the hard disc if they could fix it. I'd even pay them to do it.
Jesus, what a bummer.
 
argh, that´s sad. only thing i could think of is giving the hdd to a good friend of yours, with it knowledge, who can restore the data somehow..
 
Hooooo sorry to hear that.:indiff:. Sometimes save files can't be saved properly and they end up corrupted. It has happen to me a couple times (not with GT5), it's definitely annoying.

If it helps you (matbe it wont), I'm enjoying a lot my second runthrough.
 
I feel relay sorry for you men , that is why i ALWAYS to a backup from time to time.
 
thats why the gave you the option to backup save data man..
if this happens to me i am not gonna play again.. :-s

Same thing happened to me... I was 31/37...
Add me (v-fal) and I'll share with you some cars that will help you start all over again.
 
I must say I'm touched by the response. No silly comments, just good old fashioned 'reaching out'. Thanks people.

that sucks. i don't think i would be able to get the motivation to start the game over again. at least not for a long time
 
Not to rub salt in the woulds or anything... but the sig could use an update ;)
 
If you subscribe to PlayStation+ they will let you back up your save files to a cloud. I'm going to subsribe soon as I get the chance. I would hate to loose my game saves. Also this will allow you to retrieve your saves from anyone elses PS3 as well by logging in to your acct. So if you swap PS3's or play at a friends house, its no problem, you can access your backed up saves from ANY PS3 with the cloud storage service they offer.

Cold blooded is an understatement. I was wondering what to do with my sig (not to mention my MyGranTurismo garage...). Just can't bring myself to put 7/1 in there yet ;-)

I neglected to say that I do have ps+ already :(

Anyways. That sucks. I was always afraid of something like that happening, so I recently got into the habit of backing up my save every time I stop a session of playing.

Well y'see now it looks like you were doing so well at it, that you've had to start again to give everyone else time to catch up.

I had it happen numerous times that I was a level 35 or so and when I would turn it back on I was a full level under. It didn't happen until after level 34 but it happened about 4 times after that. And it always put me back at an even level lower. At first I thought I was crazy, but after two times I wrote it down the night I hit 39 and the next day sure enough, back at the start of 38....no idea why.

I'll gladly share a car with you. Maybe an S.Vettel? I wont be playing much as Shift 2 comes out very soon. If I can share more than 1 car, I will.

I feel sorry for anyone who has lost data after hours spent earning cars/credits/XP. Must be the must frustration thing.
I'm hoping it won't happen to me but I still back up to USB once a week.
 
@SirAlanClive - I'm sorry for you, mate. I made a stupid mistake this morning, copying from stick>PS3 instead of PS3>stick. Gladly, I only lost the data of one day, Bob will have to race the whole day to get it back, but I can imagine the pain of losing it all. I have over 600 cars, mail me, if you want one :)
