I finally upgraded to the Fanatec Turbo S with standard pedals and shifter set. I bought it new off Ebay from a trusted seller. I'm hoping to receive it for the long weekend ahead.

I used the DFGT for GT5 and MS wheel for FM3 so i'm familiar with wheels but not one like this from what I have heard there is allot of different settings and right now I am totally clueless on what some of them really do. If anyone has any tips for me that would be cool.

Thanks in advance.

First, familiarize yourself with the various setting possibilities (what various the options mean and how to change them). Then, just play with the settings as is to see how comfortable you are with them. Finally, fine tune the settings and adjust them on the fly (force feedback, steering angle...). It may take you a while to pinpoint the exact settings that you want, so be patient and enjoy the game with the wheel. That's what I did when I had my Turbo S, and it took me 2-3 days before I was familiar and got down the settings I wanted.

The Turbo S is a great piece hardware, so enjoy every bit of it.
Good luck, and have fun~

Download the latest firmware from thomas blog. That will give you all the settings, and just wait to ask questions about them after you get it. It will make alot more sense when you have it in your hands.

Ok, Thanks. It did say this on the ad "I updated the wheel to the latest firmware which is 6.81" so I think its all set as far as having the latest firmware.

Ok, so I got my wheel. I have only tried it on FM3 so far. (Going to try GT5 later) It seemed like there was just a bit of a lack of Force Feedback. Is it the game or do I have to adjust some of the settings. The FFB is 100%. What about the sensitivity? Something else?

Forza 3 is quite weak compared to other sims.

GT should give it a work out, though I have never tried mine.

Remember to start your console first when using Xbox. Otherwise it thinks it's a Microsoft wheel. 270 degrees.

I think you got it backwards. I was starting the console first and was wondering why it didnt feel like 900°. I just tried starting the console by using the wheel to turn it on and bingo. Huge difference. Its definitely 900° now.

I just received my 911 Carrera wheel 2 days ago. The seller that I bought it from stated that it was 681 firmware. But from my understanding the latest is 701 now... I think.

Here is a link to download the driver for your wheel when you get it.

Thats strange. It says in that link to not power up the console with the wheel but when I did so is when I got 900° of rotation. If I power up the console first I only get 270°.

I just tried it again to be sure I wasnt going crazy. My wheel is completely opposite of what spagetti and even the Fanatec site says.

Does anyone know what these settings are for??

Sho
Lin
Spr
Dpr

I don't want to mess with them until I know what they are or what they do.

Also if anyone has any info on the post above that would be cool.

Sho = Shock Vibration effects, turin it up for rumble.

Lin = Linearity. 10 -50 I think.

Spr = Spring. How fast it moved back to center. (only for PS3).

Dpr= Damper. Makes i harder to move the wheel. (only for PS3).

I need to try that with the XBox. I have been starting my console first as well. Ill try tonight and see if there is a diff.

Cool, Thanks.

Let me know how you make out by starting your console with and without the wheel? It seems I have to use the wheel to power up my console to get 900* which is opposite from what I have read from older threads.

Yeah, I have only been starting the console first, but still getting the 900 degree steering. So Ill chck it the other way tonight.

Thats what I find strange because mine isn't but I also haven't messed with the settings much. I see "Sen" is for rotation so I will try and put that at 900 and try turning on the console first again to see what happens.

I just got my shifter cable and couldn't get it working (on my lunch break) but then found out after some research on this site that I need to calibrate it first (which i'm going to do as soon as I get home). I had no idea.

Chris make sure your Sens setting is 900 degrees.

If you set your Sens @270 or below the Xbox thinks it's a Microsoft wheel.

Pull up telemetry on Forza to check your maximum steering angle.

Annoyingly Forza magnifies steering around the centre and reduces it at the end of the wheel stroke.
Not so much as to put you off but it's there to see on telemetry.

Edit damper works on shift 2 Xbox.

Thanks guys. Found out the wheel was on 500° and changed it to 900° so now I get 900° when I turn on the xbox first. Also, I just calibrated the shifter and that works perfect too. Now I just got to learn how to race with a shifter and clutch again. Holding onto this wheel with one hand is a bit of a handfull.
