i just deleted my saved game and started from scratch for the third time now
its kinda liberating
beforehand i use to rush into buying cars and id end up with heaps of cars id barely drive. this time im gonna take my time with each car
im kinda leaning towards stock cars this time round too
so far other than the cars ive won ive got the monaro and the svt cobra r

anyone else done the same?

So far, apart from a couple of minor mods for Clio cup and Hot Hatch championship, I've raced stock cars for more or less everything, which explains my slow progress in the game. However, if you check my signature for my complete % vs. A-spec stats, there are not many people (excluding Famine ) who can claim much better. Check here for a list of which racers have completed which races in totally stock cars.
I fully believe it's possible to complete GT4 without using a single modification, given the right amount of driver skill, and the right cars, although, maximum A-spec points will have to be sacrificed.:guilty:

do you use the oil change on your cars?

Does that include the infamous Opel Speedster Championship? As far as I remember that demands for a fully modded car, os is it prehaps possible to enter some other car? (Or it it just perhaps I that suck SO bad that I need all the mods I can get? :D )

In my second game that I am currently playing I too tend to lean towards not modding the cars at all, or at least as little as possible. It's a bit curious actually, in GT3 I thought it the most rewarding ("fun-wise") to buy new mods and ever improve your car, but in GT4 right from the start I found that stock cars are much more fun to drive. I wonder why this is, because of the better (although critisised) driving physics perhaps?

Cheers!

I started again recently too.

This time, no driving aids. So much more fun.👍

i never use driving aids
i absolutley hate them
shound be banned as far as im concerned or there should be an on/off switch
traction control on cars that dont have it??? :yuck:

:guilty: Oops! Forgot about that and the Peugeot 205 cup, neither of which I've done yet. :guilty:

Maybe some mods then. No NOS though! :) Not used a single shot yet. :)

And yes, I've used the oil change and tyre options permitted in the Stock car thread......:guilty:

I wholly agree with you, but I must admit, I used NOS aplenty when doing the Suzuki Concepts (or something) race to get the wonderful GSX/4 (?). I probably could win without it but just couldn't be bothered.. Does this make me a bad person? :D j/k

I don't use the driving aids when I don't have to. ASM is always turned off but in the 600hp+ cars I might use a "1" setting of TCS. Might consider doing without if I had a wheel and pedals though..

Cheers!

EDIT: Actually, in hindsight, as the Suzuki Concept thingy was fully modded in the power department and being a FF, I'm not entirely sure if the NOS helpt me in going faster or slowed me down with additional wheelspin..

I'd like to have all cars in the game. I like to race them stock or just drivetrain upgrades. I never use ASM but I do a lot of races on normal tires for maximum A-Spec points so TCS helps.

I lost my save game thanks (or rather, no thanks) to ActionMax.

However, it gave me a chance to restart the game.

I completed 25% of the game without buying a single car or upgrade. The only modifications I made were some N3 tires to qualify for some events, and a few small adjustments to the chassis on the Yellow Bird and the CLK Touring car.

But... 25%. Not *one penny* spent. Pretty easy to do-- I can't even gold a single license, yet I was able to do this. To me, that says that any fool can do it.

at the moment ive got the monaro, vy ss, fpv gt, typhoon, buick gnx and the svt r. all stock other than a sports exhaust for each
its amazing how quick you rack up k's if you only have a small selection to drive. im testing each aussie car to figure out which is fastest in stock form down the 1/4, round the track etc...
highly enjoyable, especially with the sports exhaust fitted :)

i started gt4 again too. i am now about 26.2% and i have only done a few races, but what the amazing thing is, in my GT4 Stats is written, A-Spec KMs= 3198km and B-spec 889kms. but the amazing thing is, that my b-spec skill is about reaching 6000. that unbelievable with only 900km almost.

but, i do prefere racing in stock...especially with the BMW M5.....

Yeah, I know the feeling.... One of my memory cards is a cheat save and one isn't, and actually, I still manage to have 90%+ win ratio on the non cheat one.

I'm going to start GT4 again on Monday when i get My DFP.:) Then i can complete GT4 Like a Pro:sly:

i'm starting GT4 on Saturday. with a wheel. :) unforunately.. not DFP :guilty: but Logitech Driving Force Feedback Wheel.:sly: Well yeah, its not DFP but good enough for me :)

And this time i plan to use no b spec, not even for 24 hr races! 👍

I've played thru it 3 times. I'm getting a little bored with it so recently i've been going through and beating the old games again.

i was thinking in restarting. I'm about 42%, beginners, japanese and american halls completed, and most of european and professional hall done. Many one make races also done. 1st time trough.
When I started, i was playin SOO bad. Most of the races were well under 100 A-spec and I used to buy a few upgrades and smoked the field on the straights.
Now i'm proud to say that it's all different. I'm became a new person! :dopey: Corners are the thing to watch now. the only thing lacking is time to play, so about july (free from school, so I'll have the nights to play) I'll restart! 💡

It doesn't sound too bad because before, I was frustrated with how hard the game was, and only in the last 10-15% I started to enjoy the RACES and not the WINNINGS :sly:

I sort of started again, got a second Memory card and decided to try that one with -

AIDS off
Manual
No cash boost
No free B & A license

Things that I didn't do through most of the game, played in auto with AIDs on through 98% of the game. And I'm not going to be so lazy this time. B-Spec milage is about 10 times that of my A-Spec milage, mostly due to 24 hour races and trying to get all 11 F1 car colours

I bobbled the idea, and I'm going to restart. At 62%, I've only got 11000 A-Spec Points, and too many neglected or unnecesary cars (I actually bought every evolution of Lancer, just to say I had them). Through my beginning quarter of the game, I've probably sunk close to a million bucks in parts I thought I would need, only to crush the opposition and leave the events with net losses :indiff: . So I'm wiping my slate clean, simply too many mistakes that took away from my game.
However... I'm keeping my current game save on my other mem card in the event that redoing mission hall all licenses, and the hard rallies proves to much to handle. Some of that stuff took me up to three hours (ie missions)

I think someone would faint if they saw my garage. I think i'll have to check, but i have about 7/10 of my cars are Japanese. 6/10 of those are Nissan/Nismo cars :)

...I actually bought every evolution of Lancer, just to say I had them...
I actually bought every single car in the game and won all the colours of the RX-7 LM and FTO Super Touring Car just to say I had them (and just in case I needed them - you never know when you might just have to have a green FTO STC! :dopey: ).

There is no way I am ever going to do all that again.

Good luck on your new save 👍

 yeah i had to do that when my memory corupted.

Sometimes it's not so hard to start again. I prefer the slower races in the Begginers hall, with stock/production cars. Don't know why tough... I guess when all the cars are almost the same, and have less power differences, it comes more to skill than the car...
Now with all those race cars with hundreds of bhp sitting in my garage begging tobe used, well, maybe i just rather have less options to enter in a race. Those days i'm usually entering a race 3 or 4 times with different cars trying to have a real challenge (not be smoked, and not blow the competition).
