i recently pick up a g27 wheel from craiglist for ( get this) $120 that's right..
i quickly made adjustments to my cockpit to accommodate the shifter and the pedals... i have to say this is a far superior wheel than the dfgt. and not by just a little, but by a landslide.
i thought it would be an easy transition from dfgt to the g27 wheel. but to my amazement. i had a difficult time adjusting to the clutch and gate shifter... not because i cant drive shift stick, (im a truck driver). but because i got used to the dfgt sequential shifter. and if that wasn't bad enough i got use to braking with my left foot on the dfgt. i keep forgetting the brake is now a clutch lol...
so i went to nurburgh and did some laps, slowly but surely i began to get the hang of it. i also found out that with a clutch and gated shifter, there are things you cannot do with a sequential shifter.
i found myself going to fast into a turn, then miss shifted. cars rear gave way then found myself drifting the turn at speed. i think they call that a clutch kick, dont quote me.. all i could do is smile. vehicle control is superb.
next took the wheel drifting session . again i found it so much easier to drift with g27 than the dfgt. i guess is the smoothness of the wheel. shifting takes some time to get used to though
anyway. has anyone have some kool techniques i can use, im currently practicing the heel toe shifting. i just cant get it. but im not one to shy away from a challenge..
has anyone else gone through this same learning process?
by the way did i say i love this wheel..
