KAMACHI Racing Revival Project (E30 M3/Volvo 240T/Macau 80s)PC

Hello fellow simracers,

I would like to introduce myself. I am Eric and quite new to this forum and simracing hobby.

I have been working on a project "KAMACHI Racing Revival" which part of it involve simracing in AC and I want to share my ideas with you.

My family established a sports brand, KAMACHI, in Hong Kong in the 80's. As a motorsports enthusiast, my father sponsored race teams under the brand to race in the Macau GP for many years.

3 very important race cars to the family are:
- 1986 Volve 240 turbo driven by Johnny Cecotto. Finishing 1st and 3rd in the race

- 1989 BMW Team Schnitzer M3 by Emanuele Pirro and Alfrid Heger.

- 1991 BMW E30 M3 Group A driven by Hong Kong legendary champion driver Charles Kwan.

Since it is the 30th anniversary of 1898 E30 M3, I want to bring this back and celebrate it with the community.

First, I've done a replica of the race car and exhibited it in this year's Macau GP.

Secondly, I want to bring these race cars into the digital age so that the fans and community can enjoy it as a free download.

This will involve:

(1) Get in touch with a skin modder to make the skin for the E30 M3 plus some tuning. It is because for that race, Pirro's race car was 6 speed where as Heger's and Kwan's cars were 5 speed.

(2) Get in touch with a car modder to build a mod for the Volvo 240 turbo.

(3) Overhaul the current Macau race track in AC and turn it back into a historic Macau GP circuit. This will involve moving the starting line to a different part of the straight (be more accurate to the 80's), remove some of the building and bridges, retro skin mod for the track, etc.

What do you think about this project? Do you like this idea?

I hope to collaborate with anyone who is interested in this, work together or even just point me into the right execution.

Hi GzeroD, I just had a look at the files inside the KAMACHI folder. Thanks a lot of kick starting on the Volvo. Awesome!
Just wondering if you will be able to add the wing on top of the trunk? Also, I noticed there are two fuel valves just in front of the wing. Please see the images. Thanksss

3 more experts came onboard!
I just received messages from 3 superb skin modders wanting to join in and support this project!
With them in the team, the race cars are gonna look Handsome : )

.kn5 for the Volvo added. Side pipe, fuel fillers, bigger fuel tank and that dropped bit under the rear bumper. Need to change the headlights.

Thanks for the offer @manu12 . I was planning to use Arch's physics for the BMW, and His AE86 for the Volvo as it has the same suspension type and I can adjust it to match the Volvo.
I'll do these versions first and you can let me know if anything is wrong with them.

Maybe we could also quickly redo some opponents so that they have related performance.

Wow that's a really CooL idea! I have a friend that he is a fanatic of Macau racing and he would have all the logos in his computer. So I think it will be very easy to do an accurate skin for the rival cars!

Volvo got a sunroof delete, resized and moved fuel fillers, started on the cockpit and changed the front to square headlights. Front lights get paintable covers as well.

Coming in fits and starts as I keep letting myself get distracted.

@manu12 are you confident with doing physics?

Just one thing, lets keep the aero simple, 3 elements, some body drag and lift and front and rear downforce. I'd hazard these cars made very little downforce, less than 100kg at top speed?

I have shared 4 cars here and tell you that I will modify your C9, have you got memory problem ?

However, I'm not confident with doing simple aero, I have never donne a 3 wings aero.

Thank you and well noted for the changes on the Volvo. I will quickly info the skin modder in regards and see when is the earliest date for the livery's first viewing.

Also, we mentioned about the revival cars pack. What do you think we narrow down on these:
Revival pack:
- Rover 3500 Watson's
- Toyota Corolla(AE86) Trampio
- Toyota Supra(MA70) Minolta
- Ford Seirra RS500 Watson's
- Skyline GTR R32 Castrol
- Honda Civic EG6 出光

Any suggestion or any cars you guys want to add or take out from this list? Once confirmed, please share with me the car model to use as a base. I have one more skin modder onboard that can help us to paint the skin for this revival pack.

Macau is my favourite street track in the world, and beatiful city. Every time i came to macau i walked on the streets where track goes.

I was reading through this thread and it made me want to mention that I did make a Starion Group A. Ill drop the tune's link here for anyone passing through this thread that's looking to fill the Mitsubishi-sized void in their Group A field right now.

The model still has the sunroof, the rims aren't that great and the car is 4WD. However, I think it's better than nothing for now if you're looking for a Group A Starion. It's competitive with the Sierra RS500 and M3.
