I thought people would've liked having a challenge for once.

No doubt many people do. But some of us find the demands of the Kart races too much of a challenge. It's more than a question of patience and practice.
I am in my 50's, this is very likely one reason. All other races are good and challenging fun, but the Kart races go beyond that and demand what I no longer have: lightning quick reflexes.

Balderdash. I'm 65 and I did it. I happen to know von Stiefel is a good driver and a smart man, so he can too.

Reflexes have little to do with it. Anticipation supercedes reflexes in the racing driver.

Thanks to the good advice here and on another forum, race 1 & 3 from utterly impossible became quite easy: 75 MPH, 10 kg ballast at 50%, driving steadily and without forcing it or applying excessive sharp turns, learning when to push and when not, learning when to brake hard. During Race 1 of 6 laps, I even crashed into a barrier around half way and had to reverse, dropped back to 4th and still managed a win if not very comfortable.

Lol, quite so. The Kart races are all about avoiding difficult situations. Once you're out, you're out.

Certainly will mate. I've had more amazing races in GT6 a-spec than I did in 5. The tyre restrictions really help.

Definitely agree with you. In GT5 it seemed like a chore but in GT6 I actually have my heart pounding in 75% of the races lol.
