Kart seasonal and traction control option...

In this latest seasonal I have been having a bit of fun with the new kart space 1 time trial.

Consequently, I was checking out a few of the top guys/gals settings and noticed that some have traction control off and some have it on default value 5.

Given an option I always turn TC off, but, for the life of me, I can't find anywhere that I can do this with a kart...I tried bringing up the RA menu in challenge but it's also greyed out!?

Is this just a regional thing or is there something obvious i missed? (probably the latter... :) )

It probably shows that because they had it on when they were driving a car and it stays like that when they switch to the karts. But obviously go karts don't have traction control
 
If you want your time to show traction control = 5 go into the Nurburgring TT and change your TC to 5, click ok, do a lap (maybe not necessary).
Exit the TT and go to the Kart TT, set a lap, it will show TC = 5, like mine does.
But you wont have any traction control. Its just a glitch.
 
I don't know if it's just me but I noticed on this event that if you just slightly drove on a curb it gives you a invalidated lap :/ Or is this another glitch or is just me?
And to achieved best time is very hard to do and to setup a gear is almost a science :S Even to do so I'm still 4 sec behind of a no.1 player :S

Yeah it's just your driving, you have to keep in the white lines 95% of the lap.

Just keep experimenting with your driving lines and you'll find what works and what doesn't work, Kart Space 1 doesn't allow for corner cutting much.

As for gears - reset them to default, then change the 1st gear to as short as you can. That should get you quicker.👍

It's the same when you do a hotlap in Practice or Arcade mode.
So stay between the lines :sly:
 
^yeah, just put your gearing to ~60mph; that's just about as fast as you can go on that track anyway.
 
Ive geared from 57(below what you can dial in the max speed box) to 80+ and think 58-68 is fine to turn 34 flats. Not sure what's good for faster since I'm stuck at 34.027 :D
Anyway, seems within that range technique varies but laps are pretty much the same.
With the super short gearing you're up to speed so much sooner you make up for hitting the fast parts, already at full speed. I think despite the labels and intent being clear, changing gearing(which should involve only ONE ratio!) is also affecting grip in a manner not consistant with gearing changes. I think keeping the first gear numerically high improves grip and accel(another example of reversed settings??)
Anyway, I set my kart with a hi first as above and gear final for mid 60's which nets me 68 on a hot run at the end of the straight

Even in GT mode.. they cut turns having all the wheels outside.. since I'm stuck in GT mode..I've been doing seasonal and special events.. and in the special events while driving the kart..you see AI's doing the same though..
The worst part is if you do the same.. you probably end up loosing the grip in higher speeds..and spin out.. things that doesn't happen to them.. :ouch:

No it's not just you..but it happens the same in the drift trial.. while practicing to get higher scores I experienced situations that just don't make sense sometimes hitting the wall or stepping over the grass..I've ended up loosing all the points..but this doesn't happen all the time.. sometimes I loose the points..sometimes I don't.. in very similar situations.. I just don't get it.. :ouch:
