Gran Turismo sparked my love for racing and now im buying a used Tony Kart. So Stoked... I learned almost everything I know about racing from the Gran Turismo series. Great Games. Also, Speed Secrets by Ross Bently is a good book. After reading it, My lap times came down. All my time spent on Gran Turismo has had a major effect on my karting. My first time out It didn't take me long to get some fast times going. GT taught me all the logic and basic stuff racing line etc... Then all I had to do was get used to the handling of the kart and I was rippin` out fast laps. Karting is very fun. I love it... Has anybody else had the same type of experience?

sorry for bringing up old post but i wonder if u can drift them...im going karting today and im gonna try it..xD

Check https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=84230. Tells you how to avoid drifting in a kart, so of course do exactly what they say not do. I found last time I tried drifting a kart it was a case of "grip...grip...grip...and we're going backwards", with no half measures. Still, have fun trying :)

Heh don't worry about him he's currently hooked on Hot Lapping.

I don't know how you can ever drift a kart because out here they don't have the power it's just grip...
So I'm hot lapping and getting faster almost every time
I go karting about once a year so I'm a bit slow and yet fast because my weigh is low

I'm Lovin' It

ps I'm hooked on drifting to. The only place a can drift is in GT3 so not much options

Cool site, looks like fun. This type of post is not a commercial advertising that I can see.

Have fun carting.

Shift your weight, Shift your weight, Shift your weight :)

You can't really drift a kart. You can certainly slide it, though. They just have too much grip to sustain any sort of drift.

<- My avatar suggest's otherwise...
That's not a kart.

This is a kart

I think it would be very difficult to drift a kart. When i was driving one it had loads of grip and then when you push it too far it snaps and you spin. I found it hard to push it to its limits and keep it there without loosing control

Throttle control :p

I got a few little drifts going when I went karting in the Holidays, abit harder seen as they wern't the more powerful karts (Under 17 :grumpy: ) which appeared easy to get sideways on the double right-hander.

Kart's don't really drift, they do slide. However if you find the back end kicking out in a kart when your being over zealous with the wheel and not going as fast as you could be going. With regards to karts snapping, they tend to snap more if your too heavy on the brakes because they only have rear brakes you lock the rear wheels very easilly.
