Just be smooth on your throttle and brake. Also try to steer not to much as it might overheat the tires. Also it is better to accelerate a little late out of the corners so the wheels are straight.

I usually aim to be 3rd or 4th on the last lap as in some strange way the karts in front are slowing down on the last lap enabling you to pass. Also it helps to adjust your steering speed from 7 to 0.

Todd8137,

do you have your steering characteristics on Simulation? The amateur setting is just a pain to me.
And turn your Feedback up to the highest setting. It fights you a little more, but you won't turn the wheel as fast.

I gave up on the National A Clubman Kart race 2 after only getting Silver. Haven't tried the international ones yet, though they are unlocked. I'm just taking the races mostly in order. I'm at the National A MR Challenge Race 2 now. Using the Evora, and damn. I hate non race MR cars. I should have used the an NSX.

Patience ,it's very thin at the minute need a day off playing for 7 hours makes my eyes go red eeeek yes thanks all will have to practice

What kind of problems are you having? You didn't explain why you hate karts so much, only that you hate them for some reason. So far the karts have probably been my favorite part of the game and I haven't had an issue beating all of the kart races on the first try. I'll help if I can, just not sure what the issue is?

Steering his my main problem going to far instead of small touches they always end up big, hitting the walls, heating the tyres up ,the rest of the GT6 is brill it's just this bit that's niggling me ,I should try once a day instead of being anal and trying for hours at a time also the other karts just seem faster I have tweaked the trans here there and every where, was never a fan of karts but I have gold fever that's getting anal

Don't go for the win first time out, just follow, keep it clean, it will come.

I've done the kart races.. took many mind numbing hours.. 2 times I spun on the 2nd last corner losing the race..
I found that acceleration is extreme touchie through the corners if you get the line right with the correct entry speed, all you need to do is turn.. lol got me through.. also shifter karts are awesome entry into GT6..

It's a real pita

I thought they were very good at being thrown around? Somewhere like Autumn Ring Mini can be driven entirely flat out, with just a lift off the throttle to get you round the first hairpin.

If the kart starts to slip, back off the throttle just a little bit and it should behave, or keep it flat out and apply a small amount of counter steering to keep the back end at a slight angle, the front corner tire will overheat but not give way. I think the key thing is to brake early and straight, ease off the brake as you enter the corner, turn and power through the rest of the bend.

That sounds like the essence of how you should drive every car, but in the kart's case, you can brake into a corner later and accelerate earlier. For the most part, you can drive it flat out as long as you are able to recognise when the back end is about to let go. Use the tire heat indicator and tire squeel to help you judge with that.

I hate the karts but got a feel for it and golded the first two championships. They are quite fun when you realise how fast youbcan be going and still make the turn but try to avoid curbs and skipping in the air.

Karts are ok but the kart track and the stadium track are quite difficult, some many tight corners!

I've just golded the 100 karts so I'm guessing I have the 125 ones shortly, hopefully it's on actual tracks

Eeeek it's nice of you all to answer ,but telling me it's been gilded by your good self just rubs salt in a very open wound
Time and patience took the snail to America

To be honest karts are really easy and fun to control, for me...i use a ds3.
Just try what you read here, they're right, It's mainly about smoothness. If you slam the brakes or if you turn with too much ''strenght'' you're done, go really easy on that left stick. You should practice online with friends if you can, when you understand how to do it they're fun.

I shall go back to them at some point but for now I will leave them as it's consuming me at the minute a mother hour to night I just can not get the hang of them need to shake the GT5 bad habits
Thanks pat

Would uploading a replay in cockpit view with all of the on screen display be of any help? Which tracks in particular are troubling you the most?

1 race is at Silverstone, so change your gearing for a longer track. The other 2 races are Kart Track & GT Arena. I finally got the gold & have Shifter Karts to look forward to.

I found I had to brake a LOT earlier then I usually would. Especially on the Kart tracks, get all your braking done early and once off the brake turn into the corner, you can also try getting on the gas early and getting a little bit of extra rotation but it takes a while to figure it out.
You'll notice if your late braking all the time and then steering into the corners right at the end of your breaking period you'll washout/understeer especially the longer the race goes on.
