Done them ,just 125 shifters to do
PT

Congrats. Practice really does make perfect eh? Sometimes it's best just to limit the amount of attempts you do with any event before going to something else and coming back another day. I was struggling with the 3rd one on National A and had given up but, yesterday, I got on a roll....did 3 events at Goodwood (which I'd given up on before as impossible) and improved my times by 6 seconds combined, went to the Kart event, added some ballast to balance it and won the event on the 3rd attempt (spun at last corner of last lap on one attempt). I usually limit myself to 3 or 4 attempts at any event before moving on and coming back another day

Cannot comment on the Shifter event, not got that far but I did the following

GT Kart Championship 125

Race 1: Gearing 75MPH (lap times around 35.3) = 120 km/h
Race 2: Gearing 81MPH (lap times around 56.7) = 130 km/h
Race 3: Gearing 75MPH (lap times around 27.0) = 120 km/h

Ballast weight 7 kg
Ballast position 50%

Remember brake late and use draft, don't panic early in race there's enough laps to catch, pass and then chill out to the finish line.

Hope this helps someone.

cheers Bee_Bee9

120 km/h for race 1
140 km/h for race 2 (87MPH)
110 km/h for race 3 (68MPH)

worked perfectly for me (DS3 controller). Easy win compared to the struggle with default settings. Still you have to be concentrated.

Ballast and tactics (brake late etc.) as mentioned above. (+ avoid curbs !!!)

Thanks for the tip. 👍

Kart s are incredibly .....erm..... Kart like ! Lol
So paying 40 quid to go go karting any more these are better than the real thing

The main problem was a little heVy handed on the steering ,lowered the sensitivity. On the thing and then just gave it a few goes ,I find the 125cc the better ones to drive

I'm with you man, hating the cart races as well, especially Kart Space. Of course I hammered them until I got gold (haven't tried the shifter race yet tho'), but didn't modify the car at all, didn't really think it would be necessary. I think these races are particularly hard for those using a controller, as the steering inputs are always more jerky. Keep at it man.

You have to mess with the transmission a little bit, but I've found adding weight to the ballast unnecessary. Using a ds3 by the way.
The key with the shifters, from what I've found, is keeping your gear a level higher than the corner suggests. I did this and beat the competition fairly easy. Also, Corners are where you're gonna get them, so go for high acceleration, without sacrificing too much top speed.

i am still stuck on Kart Jr at alpine mini wtf can't get it right at all any help?
I assume you mean Autumn Ring Mini? That is a pain in the a$$ one (I struggled with that one on GT5). Some people say just be on the throttle the whole lap with a slight lift at turn 1 but I am a bit heavy handed for that. For me, I did the following:

Turn 1: Stay on the outside, Brake late and hard until you reach the apex then just let the kart coast until straight again and then accelerate (I usually overtake 3 or 4 karts on this corner);

Turn 2: Same again, brake late, coast till straight then accelerate,

Turns 3 and 4: Keep on full throttle, stay off the curbs

Turn 5: Lift off and coast till past the apex and then accelerate

Turns 6,7 and 8: These are all full acceleration with no lift or braking.

When I managed all the laps with no mistakes, I overtook the leader just after turn 4 on the second lap. The main thing is to stay off the curbs as much as possible, each time you try just push as hard as possible and if you spin then you know to back off slightly at that point next time round. Some people can do the whole track almost flat out, others, like myself (no wheel, only a DS3) need to lift off the throttle at certain points. Maybe reduce the controller sensitivity in the options menu. And, finally, don't just aim for the win each time, just aim to improve your time or just improve one corner at a time. If you can perfect one corner on one run, another corner on another and then string them together you will find it all comes together. Hope that helps a bit and good luck

What mileage has yours done I have 233 miles it gained 1 hp?
Ouch, really?

233 miles on a kart?

Damn, your ars must be sore...

I overhauled my 100 SPL early on, and gained the 8PP/2HP.

Or was it a plain 100?

I forget now.

They're cheap, buy a new one.

I just did the 125 series with almost no trouble whatsoever. Just be very smooth with your inputs. Honestly in GT6 these carts are crazy easy to drive compared to karting in real life. I am very disappointed and can't wait to be done with the karting so that I never have to touch it again as it's unbelievably boring. Real karts are much twitchyer, much more difficult to brake properly in, and a lot more fun. I think that most of you having trouble are probably just being A bit too abrupt with your inputs. Just slow down a bit and remember you don't have to win the race in the first corner or the first lap, and I think you'll actually end up being a lot faster. Remember, smooth is fast....

I did find that setting my Top Speed from 75 down to 68 worked well for me, so hopefully that might help a few of you out in that series as well. Good luck, it's definitely doable...

Agreed 👍

The turn up and drive karts most people have experience with indoors are really easy to drive – primarily because the owners don’t want people crashing them all the time. Even twin engine ‘pro-karts’ you gte at better outdoor tracks are fairly straight forward unless it’s raining (then they are mega fun!). But proper 2 stroke race karts are much, much faster and much, much harder to drive.

The karts in GT6 understeer on turn in as I don’t think the game replicates the rear brake only on a real kart. Most people struggle because they over drive the kart on the way in to the corner, create understeer and then, whilst still understeering with lock applied, try to accelerate… then they wonder why the kart spins.

I ran the shifter series yesterday. The Silverstone and Williow were awesome, but I was initially making the same driving error on the tight stadium track. Lowered my gearing, lowered my entry speed in to the corners, focused on exit speed, and the kart was so easy to drive.

Someone help me!

I simply can't win the last race of the 125cc championship on IB.

Tips?

EDIT:

Nevermind. With the balast trick, I got it!

For the 100 and 125 karts I just moved the ballast to the front to keep it off the rear. I did not try adding any additional. It worked ok but you still need to be very quiet with your steering and don't brake in the corners.

Also assuming the OP meant Autumn Ring Mini, I'd add that in karts you have to turn in for every corner from the far outside to maintain your speed. The Junior karts accelerate slowly so any lost ground in the corners can't be made up. So it's an exercise in "out-in-out" to the Nth degree.

I found a new setup by myself for the third race of kart 125.

Gear top speed minimum (120 km/h)

Weight 10kg

Ballast position 50%

Power limit minimum (90%)

I have passed very easily and finished first with sixaxis.

I bet Kaz is trolling with those kart challenges. He knows people hate him for including them in the first place, now he made sure he'll hate karts even more by making them one of the most difficult races in the game.

Shifter kart championship has me pulling out what little hair I have left. I can easily win the first 2 races but GT Arena....no way. I've gotten 2nd in the championship a few times by always messing up the third race. One day I'll get gold.

Lots of great input here!

1st purchase I could make was the shifter (in my avatar). Love karting, wish GT5/6 karts were a bit more realistic, but they are still fun to drive. You realy have to use up the track and make the corners as round as you can. In real life you get a better feel for the handling because in essence you are a huge part of the overall ride (a large percentage of the overall weight of the kart is the driver), So you can man-handle it. You can also turn the wheel in real time and put the kart where you want it better. I have spun more in these races in GT6 in one hour (finding the limits), than I ever did in over 10 yeas of (real life) karting.

Momentum is huge in karting, so in GT6 it is a great way to force yourself into fine tuning steering input, corner entry (angle/finding proper apex for best exit) and brake/throttle usage.

Have fun, keep at it, and most important>> DO NOT THROW THE CONTROLLER at the TV!!

Use the ground view, not the view where you can see the entire cart because you over correct causing you to spin, also & this is a bit old fashioned but use the x & o buttons to blip the trottle for a far quicker response. If golds all you want give it a try.

thanks for that tip, however now the AI is messing with me....4 straight races ive shaved off a tenth finishing on his bumper

yes the shifter karts have me thankful the controller is wireless as i may hang myself.Im currently at 99% completion the GT arena race is killing me

I'm very pleased to report a win at Race 3 (Arena) in the Kart 125 Shifter series.
In so doing I won the Enzo Ferrari '02 and 159/159 Gold Stars.

Total time: 3:41.819
MoV: 0.773
Best Lap: 26.431 on Lap 2

Here's my setup:
Transmission: 81mph
PL: 95%
Ballast: 5@+50
*Note: None of these settings are chiseled in stone. Feel free to do it your own way. This is not Bible school.

Here's my method:
First I raced the Red Bull karts at Arena until I fully understood the line and the reasons for it.
Then I raced over and over again with the 125 Shifters at Arena until I could, step by step, do the following:

Lap 1: 9th place across line, soon to be 8th at 1st corner. <---"Lap of the Gods" (apologies to John Watson)
Lap 2: 7th, soon to be 6th at the 1st corner
Lap 3: 6th
Lap 4: 5th
Lap 5: 4th
Lap 6: 2nd
Lap 7: Stalked and set up leader to pass. I love to stalk.
Lap 8: Took 1st place at 1st corner; cruised to Victory.

My best advice is to adhere to the line, don't even think about touching a curb, but be ready to smoothly deviate and correctly pounce when the timing is right to pass. Every corner is in play for passing. The long curve onto the straight requires a formally correct entry (every lap) and a subtle lift to both stay hooked up and to pass going into turn 1.

My setup for the shifter kart for all of the races was
Transmission - 124mph
Ballast 20kg as far back as possible

With that set up you can floor it in acceleration as long as you are reasonably straight and you can take the final sweeping curve at the arena flat out at approx 5-10mph than the AI karts

Did take me a fair few attempts and I did have to ram the first place kart to get him out of the way.

Yeah having issues at Kart Space 1 with the 100cc Kart. :grumpy: Anyone got a setup that will work with the DS3? I have golded the other two, and I have silver on the Kart Space 1. Thanks for any help, all.
