True. I've noticed they have started using sand this year. There's still some hope...A lot of snow and ice = a lot of salt to melt the ice.

I live in the rust belt, I think I would knowThen Slash had it right the first time with road salt... lol.
Road salt is exactly why the Capri is put in the garage over winter and we bought the Up.

It's likely to stand up to it better, and for many more years, than a 1980s FordSo you don't care if the Up is exposed to road salt?![]()
As much as I hate to admit it, this is true. Though I'm not sure if I agree with "less dirt traps". There's still plenty. It's likely to stand up to it better, and for many more years, than a 1980s FordProvided SVT washes it regularly enough it's unlikely to take hold anyway. Modern cars are pretty well rustproofed, not full of dirt traps like old cars, and pumped full of waxes and underseal.
This is why I always used to check for wheel damage when I went to pick it up. Any damage to the wheels and they're not getting paid! Having said that though, Focus ST wheels would look awesome on Bruiser so it's a good excuse to get some 👍
Small update (no pictures unfortunately) - Bruiser got some new boots yesterday! My dad noticed on Wednesday that the tyres were looking a little bald, so yesterday after school me and my mum went to get some new tyres. I didn't take pictures because the wheels were dirty and Bruiser really needs a wash, plus the tyre shop made a huge mess of the wheels. They scraped off all the paint around the edges of the rims with the fitting machine, and with the wheels being black you can see the damage a mile off. My dad touched them up with some paint earlier today but they do need completely respraying. In fact, to be honest, we need completely new wheels. Ironically I just found a full set of Focus ST wheels going for £180 - right after we've spent money on new tyres for the current ones.
I'll try and get some pictures tomorrow, but I can't guarantee anything.
Which garage did you go to to put the tyres on?
Mas Tyres. We used to get a lot of our stuff done there because they're cheap, but unfortunately they're not the best at their job. Not meaning to sound racist, but only immigrants work there, so the service isn't the best. We only went for the tyres because we desperately needed some (the old ones were practically illegal) and they had the cheapest prices.
I've heard of them before and I've heard they're cheap and their service is 50/50 really. They might only be 2 mins drive down my road but I don't think I'd go near them.
When I bought my BF Goodrich tyres to put on the Capri, I wanted the BFs taken off the wheels they came with, the minilights taken off the Cooper Cobras and putting together and leaving the others seperate. Mas Tyres quoted me £35 for that and said it would take 20 mins. When I turned up he said he didn't know the profile would be so low on the tyres. I said if the profile was too low why do you change wheels with tyres of a 35 profile like that one there? He just mumbled something so I just left straight away.
The only place I'd let touch my car and sort out wheels and tyres for me is Pit Stop down Leeds road, Andy who owns it is a bit of an old school guy but knows what he's talking about and a bit of a petrolhead. To do the same job he needed nearly 2 hours and it cost me £60, but the service is great there. Check out his website and you can see what cars he's done before.

Nice, thanks for that. I don't think I've heard of them before but I'll definitely mention it next time we need tyres. 👍
Good grief. The regular gallery is a bit grim though. People in West Yorkshire apparently have hideous taste in alloy wheels!Yes definitley, I wouldn't recommend anyone else besides this place when it comes to tyre replacement or tracking. In the classic cars section theres a familiar vehicle in the gallery![]()
The road salt is why I bring my cars through the local car wash at least once a week during the winter. With underbody spray included. Otherwise yes the salt does indeed tear these cars to pieces in only a few years living in the northern climates. I also undercoat my cars right away after I purchase them. Then Slash had it right the first time with road salt... lol.

Slightly offtopic, but who do the British consider "immigrants?" Obviously anyone from outside of Britain... but, like Spanish, Irish...?Mas Tyres. Oh, I know where it is now looking at the pictures. Not sure why it didn't click before. The Capri is looking pretty mean there
. But I second what @homeforsummer said, there's an awful taste in wheels in the normal gallery!

Also the main guy their isn't an immigrant, he used to go to school here with my dad and uncle.
